Deze ronde van When Colours Collide was Neon. Dus alle felle neon kleuren en indien nodig voor je nail art mocht je ook nog een beetje zwart of wit gebruiken.
This round of When Colours Collide was Neon. So all bright neon colours were allowed and if needed for your nail art you could also use some black or white.
Het was leuk om mijn neon nagellakken uit te zoeken. Ik koos uiteindelijk voor geel, groen en roze met een accent in zwart en wit. Ik gebruikte een nieuwe KADS stempelplaat met kleine patronen, die ook heel geschikt zijn om gezamenlijk gebruikt te worden.
It was fun going through my neon nail polishes. In the end I chose for yellow, green and pink with an accent of black and white. I used a new KADS stamping plate with small patterns, that is also very suitable for layered stamping.
Vandaag hebben we weer een blauwe nail art. Dit keer met Masura Waterfall. Dit is een thermal nagellak, die verandert van kleur afhankelijk van de temperatuur. Masura Waterfall gaat van bijna wit (warm) naar turquoise blauw (koud).
Today I’m showing you again a blue nail art. This time it’s with Masura Waterfall. This is a thermal nail polish, that changes colour depending on the temperature. Masura Waterfall changes from almost white (warm) to a turquoise blue (cold)
Hier laat ik het zien in drie dunne laagjes. Het is dan nog niet dekkend. Hier is de nagellak in de koude staat en gefotografeerd onder een lamp. Ik vind het heel mooi dat er ook een meer zilveren gloed zichtbaar is.
Here I’m showing it in three thin layers. It’s not fully covering yet. I’m showing it in the cold state and photographed under artificial light. I think the silvery sheen it has, is so beautiful.
Hier is het in de warme versie. Dan wordt het ook transparanter. Deze foto is in de zon genomen.

Later vandaag heb ik er nog een accent nagel aan toegevoegd. En omdat het ook heel goed lukte op mijn andere hand, mag deze weer eens op de foto op de blog. (hier en hier zie je haar ook) De thermal laat ook iets van het kleurverloop zien.

Dit weekeinde had Dochter haar grote balletvoorstelling met de hele dansschool. Ik hielp achter de coulissen mee met het maken van knotten, heel veel haarlak opspuiten en het aanbrengen van make up. Om in het thema te blijven droeg ik deze nail art.
This weekend was the big ballet show of Daughters dance school. I helped behind the scenes with tying hair in tight ballet buns, using generous amounts of hair spray and applying stage make up. To stay with the theme I wore this nail art.
Het is niet vaak dat ik “dubbel” stempel, maar mijn eerste stempels in zilver waren niet heel goed gelukt. Ook in het roze ging het niet perfect, maar samen zag het er best goed uit. Ik heb met de nail art heel veel kleine meisjes heel blij gemaakt.
It’s not often that I use “double stamping”. But my first round of stamping in silver was with a lot of holes. Also the pink stamps are not perfect, but together it looked ok. With this nail art on I made a lot of little girls very happy.

Ik heb mijn nagels lichtblauw gelakt met Essie Gel Couture Getting Intricate. Daarna heb ik op vier nagels Catrice Galactic Glow 08 Follow the Zodiacs aangebracht en eroverheen met donkerblauw het schubbenpatroon gestempeld. Op mijn ringvinger, zonder topper, heb ik een zeemeermin gestempeld.
I painted my nails light blue with Esse Gel Couture Getting Intricate. On four nails I also painted Catrice Galactic Glow 08 Follow the Zodiacs and stamped over it with dark blue. On my ring finger, the one without the Catrice topper, I stamped the mermaid.

Deze ronde van When Colours Collide was met de kleuren Nude (neutraal, huidkleurig) en Goud. Ik heb een aantal favoriete merken voor nude kleuren en deze keer koos ik voor Essie. Om precies te zijn ik koos voor Essie Not just a pretty face. Zoals je straks op de overzichtsfoto kan zien, is deze nagellak regelmatig gebruikt.
This round of When Colours Collide was with the colours Nude (neutral, skin tones) and Gold. I use a couple of nail polish brands for my favourite nudes. This time I went with Essie and to be more precise I went with Essie Not just a pretty face. At the end of this post on the materials used picture you can see I’ve used this polish already many times.
Ik heb alle nagels met Essie Not just a pretty face gelakt (3 laagjes) en op mijn middelvinger en ringvinger met goud een bloemig paisley achtig patroon gestempeld. Ik heb alles afgewerkt met een laagje top coat.

Vandaag laat ik jullie een swatch zien van deze nieuwe groene nagellak van Catrice: Easy Peasy Green Squeezy.

Deze prachtige smaragdgroene nagellak lakt heel prettig met de brede kwast. Ik laat hier twee laagjes zien met top coat.

Een vriendin van mij is dol op de combinatie van smaragd met goud, daarom heb ik een dag later mijn swatch opgeleukt met wat nail art. Ik heb op mijn ringvinger een accentkleur gedaan met Essence Cosmic Lights 02 cosmic star. Dit is een gouden metallic nagellak met grove holografische glitters. Helaas creëert de grove glitter een hobbelig oppervlak. Op mijn middelvinger en pink heb ik met goud een bloemenstempel gezet.
A friend of mine loves the colour combination of emerald and gold, that’s why I added some nail art the next day. I did an accent nail on my ring finger with Essence Cosmic Lights 02 cosmic star. This is a golden metallic nail polish with large holographic glitters. Sadly the “under glitter” gives a very bumpy finish. On my middle finger and little finger I stamped with gold a floral pattern.

Dus… Ik heb een tijdje geleden alle nieuwe toppers van Catrice gekocht, maar omdat ik niet de snelste ben met swatchen en het nabewerken van mijn foto’s, zien jullie ze nu pas op de blog. Ik heb er zeven, maar er schijnen er nog meer te zijn.
So… I little while ago I bought all the new toppers by Catrice that I could get here where I live. I bought seven, but apparently there could be one or a couple of more out there. I’m not the fastest in swatching and getting my photos ready, so it took a while to get them ready for the blog.
Bij zes van de zeven toppers heb ik steeds dezelfde methode gebruikt: hoe ziet het eruit over zwart, over wit en over een nagellak die vergelijkbaar is met de basiskleur. En hoe zien ze eruit in twee laagjes over je natuurlijke nagel. Dit laatste wordt door Catrice afgeraden. Er staat duidelijk op alle potjes: USE BASECOAT.
With six of the seven toppers I used the same method: how does it look over black, over white and over a nail polish similar to the base colour. And finally how does it look in two coats on its own. This last option is not advised by Catrice. On all the bottles it clearly states: USE BASECOAT.
Ik heb er uiteindelijk voor gekozen om zo veel mogelijk informatie in één foto te brengen, zodat je snel een indruk hebt wat deze toppers doen. Stel je staat in de winkel en hebt een potje in je hand, dan kan je met één foto van deze post al geholpen zijn. Laten we dus maar snel beginnen! En ook handig om te weten: ik heb alle foto’s met natuurlijk zonlicht gemaakt.

Catrice Galactic Glow 02 Enchanted By Prismatic Spell
De eerste topper die ik bespreek is de tweede in mijn rijtje. Dit is Catrice Galactic Glow 02 Enchanted By Prismatic Spell. Deze topper heeft een lichtroze basis en roze naar goud kleurende flakies. De shift is subtiel en alleen een beetje zichtbaar over de zwarte basis. Over wit valt het effect bijna weg op de foto, in het echt kon je wel een subtiele sparkle zien. Over de roze nagellak is het een leuke transformerende topper. De twee laagjes op mijn pink laten zien dat het heel transparant is.
The first topper I’m showing is the second from the line up. This is Catrice Galactic Glow 02 Enchanted By Prismatic Spell. This topper has a light pink base and flakies that have a subtle shift going from light pink to gold. This subtle shift is only slightly showing up on the black base. Over white it hardly shows on the picture, but it added a soft sparkle in reality. On top of the pink nail polish it’s a really fun transforming topper. The two coats on my little finger show it’s really sheer.
Catrice Galactic Glow 04 Fast As Lightning Speed
Fast As Lightning Speed heeft een meer koraalroze basis met flakies die gaan van roze naar lichtoranje. De shift is wederom het beste zichtbaar over de zwarte basis. Op de witte ondergrond zie je dat deze basis wat meer kleur afgeeft. Over de koraalkleurige nagellak Meet Me At Coral Island geeft het een leuk transformerend effect. Maar in twee laagjes op mijn pink is deze ook heel transparant.
Fast As Lightning Speed has a more coral base with flakies shifting from pink to light orange. The shift is again showing best over a black base. Over a white base you can see that this base colour gives of a little more colour. Over coral nail polish shade Meet Me At Coral Island it has a fun transformative effect. But in two coats on my little finger it’s showing very sheer.
Watch Out! Universe Blaze heeft meer kleur in de basis. De basis is rood met flakies die gaan van fuchsia roze naar oranje. De shift laat zich het beste zien over de zwarte nagellak. Over de witte basis zie je dat deze topper echt meer kleur afgeeft. Dat is iets om rekening mee te houden! Over de rozerode nagellak Sassy Polish With Good Habits geeft ook deze topper een leuk transformerend effect. Op mijn pink zijn de twee laagjes misschien wel leuk genoeg om zo te dragen (als je van jelly nagellakken houdt).
Watch Out! Universe Blaze has more colour in the base. The base is a strawberry red with flakies going from hot pink to orange. The shift shows best over the black nail polish. Over the white base you can see that this topper comes with a good wash of colour, something to keep in mind when making combinations! On top of the reddish pink nail polish Sassy Polish With Good Habits gives this topper a nice transforming effect. The two layers on my little finger could even be worn just like that (if you like jelly nail polishes).
Catrice Galactic Glow 06 Conquer The Auroral Belt
Conquer The Auroral Belt heeft een transparante paarse basis met flakies die gaan van paars naar goud. Wederom is de shift het beste te zien over de zwarte nagellak (ik blijf mijzelf herhalen op dit punt). Over de witte nagellak zie je dat deze nagellak transparanter is en minder kleur afgeeft dan de vorige. Over de paarse nagellak Purple Is The Best Policy geeft het wederom een leuk transformerend effect (ook hier blijf ik mijzelf herhalen😉 ). Op mijn pink zie je dat deze topper echt een heel transparantie basis heeft.
Conquer The Auroral Belt has a sheer purple base with flakies shifting from purple to gold. Again the shift is showing best over black nail polish (I’m starting to sound like a broken record). Over the white nail polish you can see it’s more sheer than Watch Out! Universe Blaze. Over the purple nail polish Purple Is The Best Policy it gives a nice transforming effect (again I’m beginning to sound like a broken record 😉). On my little finger you can see that this topper has a really sheer base.
Catrice Galactic Glow 07 Feel The Cosmic Vibe
Feel the Cosmic Vibe heeft ook een paarse basis. Deze kleur is koeler paars en Conquer The Auroral Belt is warmer/roder paars. De flakies zijn blauw en als je heel goed draait, dan zie je ze ook een beetje paars. Over zwart zie je vooral hoe blauw de flakies zijn. Over de witte nagellak zie je dat deze topper meer kleur geeft. Over de paarse nagellak If Not Purple… Then What? heeft het een leuk transformerend effect. Op mijn pink zie je twee laagjes die een leuk laagje kleur geven.
Feel The Cosmic Vibe also has a purple base. This colour is a cooler purple and Conquer The Auroral Belt is a warmer more red purple. The flakies are predominantly blue, only if you really turn and tilt you can see a bit of purple. Over the black base you can really tell how blue the flakies are. Over the white nail polish you can see that the topper has more colour in the base. Over the purple polish If Not Purple… Then What? it shows it’s fun transformative effect. On my little finger you can see that two coats give a nice wash of colour.
Catrice Galactic Glow 08 Follow The Zodiacs
We zijn er bijna! Nu is Follow The Zodiacs. Deze topper heeft een lichtblauwe basis met flakies die gaan van goudgroen naar blauw. Ik vind dit echt zo’n zeemeerminnen kleur. Deze topper zit echt tjokvol flakies. Over zwart toont de topper heel erg groen, maar over wit voornamelijk blauw. Over de blauwe nagellak Me, Myself And My Polish (ook hier en hier gebruikt) zie je wat van allebei. Ook de twee laagjes op zichzelf vind ik erg mooi.
We’re almost there! Now it’s Follow The Zodiacs turn. This topper has a lightblue base with flakies going from a golden green to blue. It’s giving me mermaid vibes. This topper is really packed with flakies. Over the black base it’s showing really green, but over white is mostly blue. Over the blue polish Me, Myself And My Polish (also used here and here) you can see a bit of both. I also really like this one in two coats on it’s own.
Catrice Galactic Glow 01 Night-Time Stargazing
Voor de topper Night-Time Stargazing heb ik het iets anders aangepakt. Ik heb deze topper vergeleken met twee andere toppers die ik heb en die een vergelijkbare vibe afgeven. Van links naar rechts: Catrice ICONails 62 I Love Being Yours, Catrice Galactic Glow 01 Night-Time Stargazing en Wikkid Polish Air.
For the topper Night-Time Stargazing I changed my method. I compared this topper with two other toppers I have that seem comparable. From left to right: Catrice ICONails 62 I Love Being Yours, Catrice Galactic Glow 01 Night-Time Stargazing and Wikkid Polish Air.
Op mijn wijsvinger heb ik 1 laagje Catrice ICONails 62 I Love Being Yours over zwart en wit gedaan. Deze topper heeft flakies die van lichtroze naar goud gaan. Op mijn middelvinger heb ik 1 laagje Catrice Galactic Glow 01 Night-Time Stargazing over zwart en wit gedaan. Deze topper heeft flakies die van groen naar blauwig paars gaan. Op mijn ringvinger heb ik 1 laagje Wikkid Polish Air (ook hier gebruikt) gedaan over zwart en wit. Deze topper heeft flakies die van roze naar groen gaan. Op mijn pink heb ik twee laagjes van Night-Time Stargazing gedaan, je ziet dat dit een hele transparante topper is. Ik moet wel zeggen dat de shift van de Wikkid topper het gemakkelijkst op de foto was vast te leggen.
On my index finger I’m wearing 1 coat of Catrice ICONails 62 I Love Being Yours over black and white. This topper has flakies that shift from light pink to gold. On my middle finger I’m wearing 1 coat of Catrice Galactic Glow 01 Night-Time Stargazing over black and white. This topper has flakies that shift from green to a purplish blue. On my ring finger I’m wearing 1 coat of Wikkid Polish Air (also used here) over black and white. This topper has flakies that go from pink to green. On my little finger I’m wearing two coats of Night-Time Stargazing, it shows that it’s a really sheer topper. I do have to point out that the shift of the Wikkid polish is easier to capture and clearly showing on the picture.
Al met al ben ik erg blij dat ik de “complete” collectie heb gekocht. Ik hoop ze de komende tijd hier en daar te laten zien in nail art op de blog. Welke toppers zijn jouw favoriet? Mijn favorieten zijn de combinatie Watch Out! Universe Blaze met Sassy Polish With Good Habits en Follow The Zodiacs.

Vandaag wil ik een niet-saaie maar wel neutrale nagellak in het zonnetje zetten. Het gaat om Dogwood Flower van Masura. Deze neutrale roze tint is door de toegevoegde gouden en holografische glitters heel mooi.
Today I want to show you a neutral nail polish. It’s Dogwood Flower by Masura. This neutral pink polish is definitely not boring because of the added golden and holographic glitters.

En hier een foto van mijn duim in direct zonlicht. Ik heb deze foto genomen na een paar dagen dragen. Zoals je ziet zit de nagellak er nog prima op en is hij alleen maar een beetje uitgegroeid.
And finally a picture of my thumb in direct sunlight. I took this picture after a couple of days of wear. As you can see the polish wears really well, it’s only grown out a little.

Deze ronde van When Colours Collide was de opdracht te werken met Zwart, Mintgroen en Wit. Ik gebruikte dit als excuus om eindelijk eens mijn nieuwe plaat van Maniology van Nails by Miri te gebruiken.
This round of When Colours collide was with the colours Black, White and Mint. I used this as an excuse to use my new Maniology plate in collaboration with Nail by Miri.
Ik koos ervoor om vier nagels wit te lakken en eentje zwart. Ik stempelde er met mintgroen een abstract driehoekspatroon over. Behalve op mijn ringvinger, daar stempelde ik met zwart.
I painted four nails white and my little finger black. I stamped over them with mint in an abstract triangular pattern. Accept for my ring finger, that’s where I stamped with black.

Drie weken geleden schreef ik mijn vorige post over Polished Pantone SS19, de challenge die Julia @juliabrenchley en ik organiseren op instagram. Het is weer tijd voor een overzicht van de swatches van de kleuren van deze en tevens laatste periode. Na 9 intensieve weken waarin ik heel veel kleuren lakte, is de challenge alweer afgelopen!
It’s been three weeks since I wrote on the blog about the Polished Pantone SS19 challenge that Julia @juliabrenchley and I are hosting on instagram. In this post I’ll walk you through all the swatches of the colours of this final period. After 9 weeks of lots of swatching the challenge has ended!
Pantone Sweet Corn
Als eerste is nog Pantone Sweet Corn. Dit is een van de neutrale kleuren van dit seizoen. Ik koos hierbij Catrice Luxury Nudes soft matt 01 White & Bright. Dit is een matte sneldrogende off-white nagellak van een limited edition collection van een paar jaar geleden. Het is erg streperig en daarom draag ik het nooit. De nagellak heeft een roze shimmer. Ik draag hier twee laagjes zonder top coat.
First up is Pantone Sweet Corn. This is one of the neutral colours of this season. I chose Catrice Luxury Nudes soft matt 01 White & Bright. This is a matt quick drying off-white nail polish of a limited edition collection of a few years ago. It dries down very streaky and that’s why I never wear it. The polish has a pink shimmer.Here I’m wearing two coats without top coat.
Met een laag top coat is de lak een een stuk egaler. Dit ziet er beter uit!
With a layer of top coat it’s more evened out. I like it better now!
Pantone Brown Granite
Voor Pantone Brown Granite, ook een van de neutrale kleuren, koos ik OPI That’s what friends are Thor. Deze lak droogt een stuk donkerder op dan in het potje, maar daardoor klopt het met de Pantone swatch. Ik laat hier twee laagjes zien met top coat.

Pantone Lemon Verbena
Hierna kwam Pantone Lemon Verbena. Hiervoor koos ik Essence 38 love is in the air. Ik vind dit een hele fijne gele nagellak. Dit is twee laagjes met top coat.
Now it’s Pantone Lemon Verbena’s turn. For this colour I chose Essence 38 love is in the air. I love this yellow polish. This is two easy coats with top coat.
Pantone Turmeric
Pantone Turmeric is een kruidige oranje. Aangezien oranje de nationale kleur is van Nederland, heb ik mijn best gedaan om iets anders te vinden dan een creme nagellak. Hier draag ik twee laagjes van Masura Orange Fresh, een heldere oranje nagellak met holografische flakes. Ik heb deze foto gemaakt met lampen in plaats van de zon, dus de holo laat zich niet zien.
Pantone Turmeric is a spicy orange. Since orange is the national colour of the Netherlands, I tried my best to find a pretty one. This is two coats of Masura Orange Fresh, a bright orange polish with holographic flakes. Since I took this picture under artificial light, the holo is not showing.
Pantone Pressed Rose
En dan is het nu de beurt voor Pantone Pressed Rose. Ik draag twee laagjes van Essie Young, wild & me. Deze nagellak brengt heel gemakkelijk aan. Ik heb nog wel top coat gebruikt.
Next is Pantone Pressed Rose. I’m wearing two coats of Essie Young, wild & me. This polish applies really easily. I also used top coat.
Pantone Living Coral
Ik heb al meerdere koraalkleurige nagellakken gebruikt voor de kleur van het jaar. Dus deze keer koos weer een andere en ging ik voor Essie Sunday Funday als Pantone Living Coral. Ik laat hier twee laagjes zien met top coat. Ik heb deze nagellak al een keer eerder op de blog laten zien. Als je beide foto’s naast elkaar zet, zie je dat er kleur verschil is. Dat klopt en komt door het licht. De eerste keer maakte ik de foto in de zon, deze keer met een daglicht lamp. Maar allebei kloppen ze, omdat deze kleur meerdere gezichten kent.
I have already used multiple coral polishes for the colour of the year. So this time I chose Essie Sunday Funday as Pantone Living Coral. I’m showing you two coats with top coat. I’ve used this nail polish before on the blog. If you put the photos next to each other you see that there’s a difference in colour. That’s because I used a different light source this time. First time I made a picture in the sun, this time I used a day light bulb. Both are correct representations of this polish 😊
Nail art with Pantone Brown Granite, Lemon Verbena, Turmeric, Pressed Rose en Living Coral
De laatste opdracht was een nail art met een hele serie kleuren van de challenge, namelijk Pantone Brown Granite, Pantone Lemon Verbena, Pantone Turmeric, Pantone Pressed Rose en Pantone Living Coral. Ik heb twee verschillende smoosh technieken en fluid nail art gedaan. Ik wilde de resultaten van de verschillende technieken eens naast elkaar zien. Ik zal nu per vinger vertellen wat ik heb gedaan. Op mijn wijsvinger heb ik de techniek gebruikt die ik meestal doe. Ik bracht wat druppels nagellak aan op mijn stempel en dan drukte dat een paar keer over de nagel heen. Op mijn middelvinger en ringvinger heb ik twee pogingen tot fluid nail art. Ik heb daarvoor decals gemaakt op mijn nail art mat en er wat siliconen spray bij gebruikt. Het eindresultaat was eigenlijk een best dikke decal, dus ik vind het niet erg mooi. Ook al is het patroon in de nagellak veel complexer en spreekt mij dat juist aan. Als laatste heb ik op mijn pink een smoosh techniek gebruikt waarbij je nagellak op de nail art mat doet en dat met de stempel oppakt en dan op de nagel aanbrengt. Om onverklaarbare reden was dat erg geel geworden. De fluid nail art was wel met de bruine lak erbij gedaan, de andere smooshes niet. Dat heb ik gedaan omdat het bruin de kleuren wat vertroebelde.
The final challenge was to make nail art with a lot of the Pantone colours, namely Pantone Brown Granite, Pantone Lemon Verbena, Pantone Turmeric, Pantone Pressed Rose and Pantone Living Coral. I used two different smoosh techniques and also made some fluid nail art. I wanted a visual how the different techniques give also different results. I’ll tell you for each finger what I did. On my pointer finger I used the smoosh technique I usually do. I dropped some nail polish on my stamper and applied that on my nail in a couple of rounds. On my middle finger and ring finger I’m showing my first tries at fluid nail art. I made decals on my nail art mat used a silicone spray. The end result was a rather thick decal, something I don’t like. But the patterns in the decals are very nice and more complex, something I think is really beautiful. Finally on my little finger nail I used a different smoosh technique. I dotted some polish on my nail art mat and picked it up with my stamper and put that on my nail. For some reason that one turned out really yellow. I only used the brown polish for the fluid nail art, because it made the colours a little muddy.
