Maar toen kwam Dochter met een briljant idee: ze had net de film Project Hail Mary gezien en vroeg mij of ik voor haar het vest met de vossen wilde maken. En ik heb ja gezegd. Ik ga mijn avonturen met dit vest niet op de blog vertellen, want het is een flinke klus. Dus ik durf niet te zeggen in welk jaar ik het af zal hebben…
After a hiatus of 15 year I have started knitting again this year at the end of winter. To practice I started with knitting a few hats. Soon Daughter came with a brilliant idea: she had just seen the movie Project Hail Mary and asked me if I wanted to knit her the fox cardigan. And I agreed to it. Als afwisseling op het grote vossenvest project, heb ik deze zomer een aantal haarbandjes gebreid en daar wil ik het deze blog wel over hebben. Het patroon heet de Heat Wave headband en is van Celeste Knitwear. Je kunt het hier vinden.

De eerste keer breide ik de Heat Waven headband met paarse katoenen garen dat we hadden gevonden bij Boekenvoordeel. Het garen heet Gründl Cotton Quick uni kleur 160 Violet. Dochter droeg het haarbandje graag met het warme weer. En ze was er heel blij mee, omdat ik een breiproject had afgemaakt voor haar. Het jaartal waarin het vossenvest af zal zijn, durf ik niet te geven.
The first version of the Heat Wave Headband was knit with purple cotton yarn. We bought it at the shop Boekenvoordeel. The yarn is called Gründl Cotton Quick uni colour 160 Violet. Daughter loved wearing the headband with the warm weather. And she loved it, because it was my first finished knitting project for her. The year in which I’ll finish the fox cardigan is still undetermined.
Het haarbandje van Dochter zag er wel erg comfortabel uit op de warme dagen. Dus ik maakte er ook eentje voor mijzelf. Bij de Action vond ik een bolletje bamboe garen. Ik heb het bandje niet bewaard, dus meer informatie kan ik je niet geven. Het is inderdaad een fijne haarband om in de zomer te dragen.
Daughter’s Heat Wave headband looked really comfortable during the hot summer days. So when I found some bamboo yarn at Action, I bought to make one for myself. I didn’t keep the label, so I can’t give you more information. I can confirm that it is a nice headband to wear during the summer.
Na een pauze van een paar weken, kriebelde het weer om nog een Heat Wave haarbandje te breien. Ik zou binnenkort mijn nichtjes weer zien, dus dat leek mij een leuk idee. Ik vond garen van bij Wibra dat ik passend vond bij mijn nichtjes. Het is Wibra Fiona dat bestaat uit 55% katoen en 45% viscose. Ik zie geen naam voor de kleur, maar het is een witte basis met roze, groene, gele en blauwe schakeringen. De nichtjes waren ook blij met hun haarbandjes. Ze zijn lekker zacht om met warm weer je haar uit je gezicht te houden.
After a break of some weeks I was looking to knit some more Heat Wave headbands. I knew I would see my nieces soon, so I had a plan. I found yarn at Wibra that I thought was fitting for my nieces. It’s Wibra Fiona and it’s 55% cotton and 45% viscose. I can’t find a name for the colour, but I would describe it as a white base with pink, green, yellow and blue colour changes. The nieces were also happy with their headbands. These headbands are nice and soft to keep your hair from your face on hot days.

Eerste vakantie manicure bestond uit drie laagjes van Impulss nail polish Magic Shell. Dit is een transparante jelly nagellak met roze shimmer. Het toont heel anders in de schaduw (zie pink) dan in zon. Als accent heb ik met blauwe stempellak een afbeelding aangebracht van stempelplaat KADS Flower 051. Ik heb deze vakantie allemaal kleinere potjes nagellak meegenomen en twee stempelplaten en een paar kleuren stempellak. En deze nagellak is 8 ml.
The first holiday manicure was three coats of Impulss nail polish Magic Shell. This is a transparent jelly nail polish with pink shimmer. It looks very different in shade (look at the pinky nail) then in the sun. As accent I added with blue stamping polish an image from stamping plate KADS Flower 051. I brought only smaller sizes nail polishes and some colours of stamping polish and two stamping plates. This nail polish is 8 ml.

Daarna droeg ik DanceLegend Miss Chief. Dit potje is 6,5 ml. Het heeft een dun kwastje, dus ondanks de dekkende formule had ik toch drie laagjes nodig. Het is een mooie nagellak met shimmer en holografische flakes. In elk licht ziet het er mooi uit.
Next I wore DanceLegend Miss Chief. This nail polish bottle is 6,5ml. Is has a thin brush, so despite the rich formula I still needed three coats. It’s a beautiful nail polish with shimmer and holographic flakes. It looked pretty in every light.

Vervolgens droeg ik een hele mooie roze nagellak. Dit is L’Oreal Rose Aphrodisiac, een potje van 5 ml. Ik droeg het in twee laagjes. Met het beschikbare licht heb ik een beetje moeilijke pose gedaan om de “glow” in het roze te laten zien.

De laatste vakantie manicure was Impulss Sparky Lotus. Dit is een holografische nagellak in een potje van 8 ml. Ik droeg het in drie laagjes. Als accent bracht ik op duim en ringvinger met lichtpaarse stempellak een afbeelding van stempelplaat KADS Min 029. Ik maakte de foto op een bewolkte en druilerige dag, dus het holografische effect kreeg ik niet op de foto.

Om het prettig te dragen bracht. ik tot slot een laagje glitter smoothing top coat en een laagje gewone top coat. Hema Rose petals bestaat uit een mix van lichtroze en donkerroze glitters en holografische glitters. Het heeft geen zwarte glitters! Dat is een reflectie van de camera!
This is my final manicure of the month. I first applied one coat of Kruidvat 080 Flamingo Pink and then two coats of Hema Rose petals. For a less textured wear I added a layer of glitter smoothing top coat under my regular top coat. Hema Rose petals is a mix of light pink and deep pink glitters and holographic glitter. It doesn’t have black glitter! That’s a reflection of the camera!
Net als vorige maand was het heel erg warm weer. En net als vorige maand had ik weinig nagellak tijd. Dit komt omdat mijn nagellak plekje op zolder is en daar was het gewoon veel te warm! Vervolgens droeg ik mijn project nagellak van dit jaar: Masura Jasmine honey. Ik draag Jasmine honey in drie laagjes en daarover een laagje Catrice Dream in 060 Prism universe. Het is nu zichtbaar in mijn potje dat ik het zo regelmatig gebruik. De nagellak is nu gezakt tot net boven het Masura logo. Het is de tweede keer dit jaar dat ik Jasmine honey combineer met Prism Universe. Alleen deze keer heb ik Prism Universe als topper gebruikt.

Daarna droeg ik Angel wings. Een nagellak die ik op de socials heel vaak langs zag komen en heel mooi vond. Een vriendin heeft deze aan mij gegeven, omdat ze wist dat ik Dam Love at frost sight en Catrice Spectra Light 02 Iridescent Illusion ook heel mooi vind. Ik droeg het in drie laagjes en de shimmer is echt betoverend in het echt.
Next I wore Angel wings. It’s a nail polish that I saw regularly on the socials and I was intrigued by it. A friend gifted it me, because she knew I love this kind of polish. She knows I love Dam Love at frost sight and Catrice Spectra Light 02 Iridescent Illusion. I wore Angel wings in three coats and the shimmer is magical in real life.

Daarna nam ik even een “pauze” met een neutrale nagellak, want ik wist wat Zoon had uitgekozen voor zijn verjaardagsmanicure. Dit is Revlon Birthday suit. Meegenomen in een online bestelling om tot gratis verzenden te komen. En dus ook de enige Revlon Ultra HD Snap! in mijn collectie. Het was een prima nagellak.

Op verzoek van Zoon droeg ik wederom een blauwe manicure met glitters. Deze keer is het een rewear die hij mooi vond. Ik draag een laagje Wikkid Dodge’em en een laagje OPI Better be blue. Zoals de afgelopen jaren draag ik de verjaardagsslingers van KADS mini 032 in witte stempellak. Onze Zoon was erg tevreden met het resultaat. Hij is gestart met de puberteit en hard aan het groeien. Ieder jaar ben ik weer benieuwd of hij nog een verjaardagsmanicure van mama wil.

Deze laatste lente maand was qua weer meer een zomermaand. We hadden een hele vroege hittegolf met waarschuwingen vanwege de hoge temperaturen en hoge luchtvochtigheid. Op alle nagels, behalve de ringvinger, draag ik twee laagjes Catrice ICONails 170 No more Monday blue-s met als topper een laagjes China Glaze Fairy dust. Op de accent nagel draag ik twee laagjes Catrice ICONails 120 Pink clay. Daarover bracht ik een water decal aan met een lichtblauwe bloemen afbeelding. Dit was wel een succes.

Op verzoek van dochter droeg ik voor pride month deze manicure. Een klasgenootje heeft bekend dat ze zich als bi identificeert. Op duim en wijsvinger droeg ik twee laagjes Catrice LE Hop, hop hooray reloaded C07 Basket of tulips. Op middelvinger en ringvinger droeg ik twee laagjes Essence 118 Ultra violet. Op de pink droeg ik twee laagjes Catrice ICONails 61 Me, myself and my polish. Als accent bracht ik op de ringvinger nog een laagje aan van de glitter nagellak Rimmel Londen 021 Bedazzle. Dochter was erg tevreden met het resultaat (en ik ook).

On thumb and pointer I wore two coats of Catrice LE Hop, hop hooray reloaded C07 Basket of tulips. On middle finger and ring finer I wore two coats of Essence 118 Ultra violet. On the pinky I wore two coats of Catrice ICONails 61 Me, myself and my polish. As accent I added a layer of glitter polish by Rimmel Londen 021 Bedazzle. Daughter liked the manicure a lot (and so did I).

Passend bij het warme weer koos ik voor een “jelly sandwich” manicure. Ik startte met een laagje Dam nail polish I’m in a flurry (advent 2023), daarna een laagje Dam nail polish Go fish (een topper met holografische glitter en reflective glitter), weer een laagje I’m in a flurry en tot slot weer een laagje Go fish. Daarna bracht ik een glitter smoothing top coat en mijn gewone top coat. Wat was dit prachtig in de zon.
Fitting for the warm weather I chose a “jelly sandwich” manicure. I started with a layer of Dam nail polish I’m in a flurry (advent 2023), followed by a layer of Dam nail polish Go fish (a topper that’s part holographic glitter and part reflective glitter), then another layer of I’m in a flurry followed again by Go fish. Then I applied a glitter smoothing top coat followed by my regular top coat. This was so beautiful in the sun!

Daarna had ik behoefte aan een meer neutrale manicure. Een van mijn heet zomerweer jurken heeft een zebra print en is beige met taupe. Ik besloot dit als mijn inspiratie te gebruiken. Mijn beste match waren Essie Master plan en Essie It’s all bright. Ik draag ze in drie laagjes. Over de nagels met It’s all bright bracht een afbeelding aan van KADS Summer 004. De match werkte erg goed.
Then I wanted to wear a more neutral manicure. I decided to use a summer dress (hot weather summer dress) as my inspiration. This dress has a zebra print and is in the colours beige and taupe. My best matching nail polishes were Essie Master plan and Essie It’s all bright. I wore them in three coats. Over the nails with It’s all bright I added an image from KADS Summer 004. The match was really successful..

Aan het einde van de hitte golf was ik weer terug op neon roze nagellak. Ik droeg twee laagjes Catrice Neon 04 Flashing pink en een laagje Clionadh UV. Inmiddels is de hittegolf voorbij. We kunnen weer even bijkomen in gemiddeld Nederlands zomer.
At the end of the heat wave I was back for more neon pink nail polish. I wore Catrice Neon 04 Flashing pink in two coats with one coat of Clionadh UV. The heat wave is now over. We can recover in very average Dutch summer weather.
Mei was voor ons een hele drukke maand. Hierdoor heb ik niet met dezelfde regelmaat als anders mijn manicure kunnen wisselen. Een groot deel van de maand werd gekenmerkt door warm en zelfs zomers weer. Elke manicure is gedragen met base coat en top coat, tenzij anders vermeldt.

Op 4 en 5 mei gedenken en vieren we de Nationale Dodenherdenking en Bevrijdingsdag. Voor deze dagen droeg ik Cadillacquer Positive thinking in drie dunne laagjes met glitter smoothing top coat onder mijn reguliere top coat. Ik heb deze nagellak gekozen vanwege de naam. Het is nodig om positief te blijven denken in deze tijd met zulk nieuws op de radio, tv en krant. Nieuws van internet vermijd ik op dit moment actief.

Voor Moederdag droeg ik twee lakken die ik van de kinderen heb gekregen. Ik draag twee laagjes van Essie jelly gloss nail polish Orchid jelly en een laagje Essie special effects nail polish Ethereal escape. Ik bracht er een rozen afbeelding aan met een zilveren holografische stempellak van stempelplaat KADS Flower 037. Een hele lieve manicure.
For Mother’s Day I wore two polishes I was given by the children. I wore two coats of Essie jelly gloss nail polish Orchid jelly and one coat of Essie special effects nail polish Ethereal escape. I added a rose image with a silver holographic stamping polish from stamping plate KADS Flower 037. It was a very sweet manicure.

Ik had KBShimmer Such a smartie al een tijd niet meer gedragen en daarom koos ik ervoor om deze weer eens te pakken. Ik droeg het in twee dunne laagjes over een dubbele laag base coat. Helaas had ik toch compleet rood verkleurde nagels. De verkleuring van december nagellakken was net voor het grootste deel uit gegroeid. Dus we gaan weer een periode van dekkende lakken tegemoet.
I hadn’t worn KBShimmer Such a smartie in a while. So I decided to get it out again. I wore it in two thin coats over a double layer of base coat. Sadly my nails were discoloured again to a bright red. The discolouration from the December manicures was almost fully grown out. So we’re starting a period of full coverage polishes all over again.

Ik nam een gok om daarna Colores de Carol Gala te dragen, niet wetend of deze nagellak volledig de verkleuring zou dekken. Gelukkig waren drie laagjes voldoende om mijn nagels helemaal dekkend te krijgen. De shimmer en holografische flakes waren samen erg mooi!
I took a chance to pick Colores de Carol Gala after the discolouration, because I didn’t know it would cover my nails completely. I was lucky, in three coats my nails were fully covered by the nail polish. The shimmer and holographic flakes together were really pretty!

Deze maand wilde ik weer iets nieuws proberen met mijn project polish van dit jaar. Deze keer droeg ik drie laagjes van Masura Jasmine honey op duim, wijsvinger en pink. Op mijn middelvinger en ringvinger droeg ik drie laagjes Catrice Dream in Holo Blast 060 Prism universe. Over deze twee nagels bracht ik een bloemen afbeelding aan graderend in drie kleuren stempellak (beige, koraal roze, lichtroze) van KADS Flower 052.
This month I wanted to try something new with my project polish of this year. This time I wore three coats of Masura Jasmine Honey on thumb nail, pointer finger nail and pinky nail. On my middle finger nail and ring finger nail I wore three coats of Catrice Dream in Holo Blast 060 Prism universe. On these two nails I added a floral image in a colour gradient (beige, coral pink and light pink) from KADS Flower 052.

On my ring finger nail I wore essence holo bomb 04 Holo it’s me in two coats. On my pointer finger nail and middle finger nail I wore Wikkid polish Snow White (H) in three coats and on top I added an image from stamping plate BM-XL 217.

We hadden een aantal dagen warm weer. Hierdoor begonnen de eerste bomen en struiken weer bladeren te groeien. Daarom creëerde ik deze nail art. De roze nagellak is Catrice Pastel please 010 Think pink in drie laagjes. De andere nagels hebben Rogue lacquer Piles of petals in drie laagjes. De afbeeldingen met de blaadjes komen van KADS stempelplaat Nature 070.
After a couple of warm days we had the first trees and bushes growing their first leaves. I created this nail art to celebrate the first leaves of spring. Next followed a rewear. This combination of toppers has been worn before by me. The base is two coats of Catrice More Than Nude 07 Nudie Beautie. Then follows two coats of Essence 01 Believe in Mermagic. To finish it I added some sparkle with one coat of Catrice Dream in 060 Prism Universe.

My second St Patrick’s Day manicure was worn on the feast day. I wore a skittle manicure with DA Nails Magical (two coats), Catrice ICONails 167 Love it or leaf it (two coats) and Catrice Gel Affair 055 Olive opulence (two coats, but one coat would be enough). That’s why I used Olive opulence to stamp a clover image. The image is from KADS stamping plate Nature 036.

Ik heb niet echt een goede stempel afbeelding van de magnolia, dus koos ik een afbeelding met tulpenbloemen. Ik heb deze afbeelding groen en roze gestempeld. De afbeelding is van Dashica stempelplaat Infinity Nails 139.
This manicure was inspired by the flowering magnolia trees in our area. As base I chose Catrice Glacier glow from their new Aura Glam collection. I wore it in three coats. I don’t have a good stamping image of the magnolia bloom, so I chose an image with tulips. I stamped the image with light green and pink metallic stamping polish. This image is from Dashica stamping plate Infinity Nails 139.

Vanwege het winterweer, wilde ik weer een witte manicure dragen. Als basis gebruikte ik een laagje witte base coat. Daarna bracht ik twee laagjes All nighter. Deze Glow in the dark “top coat” is erg dekkend. Wat mij positief verraste is dat deze nagellak echt een groene glow heeft. Maar ik kreeg dat niet gefotografeerd.
Because of the winter weather, I wanted to wear another white manicure. As base I used a layer of white base coat. Then I added two coats of All nighter. I didn’t expect much of this Glow in the dark “top coat”. Because drug store glow in the dark polishes often don’t work. I was pleasantly surprised that this polish did glow green. But I was not able to capture it with my camera.

Daarna koos ik voor een blauwe winterse manicure. Ik koos voor Masura Jellyfish. Ik draag het in drie laagjes. Deze blauwe nagellak met UCC flakes and holographic flakes is heel mooi in de zon. Maar in the schaduw zijn het de UCC flakes en de roze shimmer die eruit springen.
Next I wore a blue wintery manicure. I picked Masura Jellyfish. I wore it in three coats. This blue nail polish with UCC flakes and holographic flakes is very pretty in the sun.In the shade it’s the flakes and the pink shimmer that steal the show.

In de dagen in aanloop naar Valentijnsdag droeg ik OPI My wish list is you in drie laagjes. Dit is een vrolijke en heldere rode jelly nagellak. Erover bracht ik een laagje Revlon Hearts of Gold FX aan. Dat gaf eigenlijk alleen maar gouden glittertjes. De hartjes moest ik uit het potje vissen en heb ik met een dotting tool geplaatst.
In the days leading up to Valentine’s Day I wore OPI My wish list is you in three coats. This is a bright and happy red jelly polish. On top I added one layer of Revlon Hearts of Gold FX. This resulted only in a layer of small golden glitters. I had to fish for the hearts and I placed them on the nail with a dotting tool.

Nu zijn we aangekomen bij mijn manicure voor Valentijnsdag. Ik startte met twee laagjes Catrice Gel Affair 019 Vive l’Amour op al mijn vingers behalve mijn ringvinger. Op mijn ringvinger bracht ik een laagje Catrice ICONails 81 Metal speaks louder than words aan. Vervolgens bracht ik op de rode nagels een dun laagje aan van de topper Dam nail polish Go Fish. Op de zilveren accent nagel bracht ik twee dikke lagen aan van de topper Dam Go Fish. Dat gaf fantastische sparkels in de zon! De afbeelding van de hartjes komt van stempelplaat BM XL201. Die heb ik in rood en zilver aangebracht op duim, middelvinger en ringvinger.

Ik wilde weer een keertje experimenteren of spelen met mijn nieuwe U vormige magneet. Deze keer wilde ik het proberen met Catrice Bold Magnetic 020 Don’t be so clingy. Ik heb het in twee laagjes aangebracht. Het velvet effect lukte prima, maar door het kleine contrast tussen de basiskleur en het magnetische pigment ga ik het niet nog een keer doen.
I wanted to experiment of play again with my U shaped magnet. This time I wanted to try it on Catrice Bold Magnetic 020 Don’t be so clingy. I wore it in two coats. The velvet effect was very successful, but since this polish has little contrast between the base colour and the colour of the magnetic pigment, I wouldn’t do it again.

Weer een neutrale nagellak. Hier draag ik Essie Gel Couture Last nightie in drie laagjes. De fijne gouden flecks zijn nog steeds zichtbaar op de nagel. Dat wist ik van te voren niet helemaal zeker. Dus het is toch neutraal met iets extra’s.
Another neutral manicure. Here I wear Essie Gel Couture Last nightie in three coats. The small golden flecks are visible on the nail. I wasn’t sure about that before applying. This is truly a neutral with something extra.

Als laatste manicure van de maand droeg ik Essie Master plan in twee laagjes. Deze manicure paste goed bij het bewolkte weer. Hopelijk breekt de lentezon snel door!
My final manicure of this month was Essie Master plan in three coats. This manicure was fitting with the overcast weather. I hope for sunny spring weather starting soon.
Het jaar startte met sneeuw en kou en ook al dooide na een week de sneeuw weg, het bleef een koude wintermaand tot het eind. Die winterkou maakte mijn korte nagels kwetsbaar en brokkelig en mijn handen en nagelriemen erg droog. Ik had deze maand veel handcrème en nagelriemolie nodig. Ik draag elke manicure met base coat en top coat.
This year started with snow and cold and even after the snow thawed away it stayed cold until the end of the month. The winter cold made my (short) nails vulnerable to breakage and my hands and cuticles very dry. I needed lots of hand cream and nail oil this month. I’m wearing each manicure with base coat and top coat.

Traditioneel start ik het jaar met een manicure met de Pantone kleur van het jaar. Dit jaar is het een witte tint met de naam Cloud Dancer. Deze keuze kreeg veel tegenreactie, zoveel dat zelfs ik het meekreeg. Terwijl ik nog maar weinig met social media doe. Dus mijn tweede manicure is met de andere kleuren die voor dit jaar genoemd worden.
Traditionally I start the year with the Pantone colour of the year. This year’s colour is a shade of white with the name Cloud Dancer. This choice faced a lot of backlash online. Even I heard about it, even though I’m very little on social media. So with my second manicure I looked at the other colours that are suggested.

Met alle sneeuw buiten koos ik Masura Scattering of opals voor Pantone Cloud Dancer. Dit is een witte nagellak met opal flakes en wat holografisch pigment. Hierdoor is er toch wat kleur in deze witte nagellak. Ik draag het in vier laagjes, want het is erg transparant.
With all the snow I picked Masura Scattering of opals as my choice for Pantone Cloud Dancer. This is a white polish with opal flakes and a little holographic pigment. This brings a little colour to this white nail polish. I wear it in four coats, because it’s very sheer.

Zoals gezegd kwam de keuze voor Cloud Dancer met best een sterke tegenreactie. Het internet koos voor Phthalo Green, een intensieve blauwgroene tint. Ikea koos als eigen jaarkleur Rebel Pink. Dit is een lieve roze tint die je zowel als neutral of als extra accent kleur in je inrichting kan gebruiken.
Like I said before, the choice of Pantone for Cloud Dancer came with a lot of online backlash. The internet choice for Phthalo Green, an intense shade of blueish green. Ikea chose Rebel Pink as their colour of the year. This is a sweet shade of pink that can be used as a neutral or as a splash of colour in your interior design.
Skittle manicure with Cloud Dancer, Rebel Pink and Phthalo Green
Mijn tweede manicure van het jaar werd dus een skittle manicure met Cloud Dancer, Rebel Pink en Phthalo Green. Ik koos deze nagellakken: Hema Flamboyant flamingo (Ikea Rebel Pink), Catrice ICONails 158 Deeply in green (Phthalo Green) and Catrice Brave metallics 02 Sweet as sugar (Cloud Dancer). Ik bracht alles in twee laagjes aan.
My second manicure of the year became this skittle manicure with Cloud Dancer, Rebel Pink and Phthalo Green. Ik picked these nail polishes: Hema Flamboyant flamingo (Ikea Rebel Pink), Catrice ICONails 158 Deeply in green (Phthalo Green) and Catrice Brave metallics 02 Sweet as sugar (Cloud Dancer). I wore them all in two coats.

Mijn derde manicure is een tweede optie voor Ikea Rebel Pink. Online vond ik meerdere foto’s, maar sommige waren lichter roze en sommige waren wat dieper roze. Dus dit is mijn lichtere optie. Dit is Essie Gel Couture Haute to trot in twee laagjes.
My third manicure is another option for Ike Rebel Pink. Online I found multiple pictures where some where lighter shades of pink and some a little deeper. This is my lighter shade of Rebel Pink. I’m wearing Essie Gel Couture Haute to trot in two coats.

Dam nail polish Every day I’m shoveling magnetised in velvet style
Met kerst kreeg ik een hoefijzer magneet cadeau, zodat ik mijn magneet nagellakken kan dragen in de “velvet effect”. Die wilde ik graag uitproberen, dus toen ik de jaarkleuren bekeken had, ging ik met mijn nieuwe magneet experimenteren. Ik draag Dam Every day I’m shoveling in drie laagjes. En als accentnagel draag ik twee laagjes Catrice ICONails 81 Metal speaks louder than words en afbeelding gestempeld in lichtblauw van stempelplaat BornPretty BP-01. Ik was erg trots op het resultaat met mijn nieuwe magneet. Ik ga dit vaker doen.
At Christmas I received a horseshoe magnet as a gift, so I could start wearing my magnetic nail polishes in the velvet style. I really wanted to play with my new magnet, so after looking at the new colours for this year I chose a magnetic polish. I’m wearing Dam Every day I’m shoveling in three coats. As accent nail I wore two coats of Catrice ICONails 81 Metal speaks louder than words. On top I added an image with light blue stamping polish from stamping plate BornPretty BP-01. I was very happy with the result with my new magnet. I want to try this more with other magnetic nail polishes.

Na al deze geïnspireerde manicures, was het nu tijd voor een rustige wintermanicure. Ik draag Essie Serene slate in twee laagjes.

De geboortesteen van de maand januari is granaat. Daarvoor creëerde ik deze combinatie. Ik startte met twee laagjes Catrice Gel Affair 043 Cranberry jam. Daarna bracht ik nog twee laagjes Almandine Garnet aan. Deze nagellak is van de Zodiac set, een samenwerking van Dany Vianna, Vanessa Molina en Whatcha.
The birth stone for January is garnet. I used this combination for a beautiful garnet effect. I started with two coats Catrice Gel Affair 043 Cranberry jam. Then I added two coats of Almandine Garnet. This nail polish is from the Zodiac set, a collaboration between by Dany Vianna, by Vanessa Molina and Whatcha.

Nadat ik een combinatie van twee nagellakken had gedragen, was ik geïnspireerd om dat nog een keer te doen. Deze keer koos ik voor Essie After school boy blazer (twee laagjes) en KBShimmer Ice and Easy (een laagje).
After wearing a combination of two polishes, it inspired me to make another combination. This time I chose Essie After school boy blazer (two coats) and KBShimmer Ice and Easy (one coat).

Mijn challenge lak voor dit jaar is Masura Jasmine honey. Ik wil deze nagellak elke maand een keer dragen als ik zin heb in een neutrale lak of een palette cleanser. Dit is mijn eerste keer dit jaar dat ik deze nagellak draag. Ik heb drie laagjes nodig om het volledig dekkend te krijgen.
My challenge polish for 2026 is Masura Jasmine honey. I want to wear this nail polish each month this year whenever I feel like wearing a neutral or a palette cleanser. This is my first time this year using this polish. I needed three coats to reach full coverage.

Daarna droeg ik een ijzige lichtpaarse nagellak van Clionadh Cosmetics. Deze nagellak heet Royalty en komt van de Stained Glass collection. De multichrome shimmer in deze nagellak heeft de kleuren perzik-goud-groen-turquoise. Ik droeg het in drie laagjes.
Next I wore a icey light purple nail polish from Clionadh Cosmetics. This nail polish is called Royalty and is from the Stained Glass collection. The multichrome shimmer is peach-gold-green-turquoise. I wore it in three coats.

De laatste manicure van de maand was weer geïnspireerd op de maandsteen granaat. Deze keer koos ik voor Catrice ICONails 101 Berry Mary en ik droeg het in twee laagjes.
The final manicure of the month was again inspired by the birth stone Garnet. This time I chose Catrice ICONails 101 Berry Mary and I wore it in two coats.
Ik had vorig jaar de volgende doelen voor 2025 bedacht:
Low buy voor nagellakken. Bij voorkeur geen indie nagellakken bestellen en alleen (beperkt) aankopen uit de drogisterij;
15% van de collectie dragen;
Ongedragen of niet gefotografeerde nagellakken hebben een lichte voorrang, maar ik start dit jaar ook met opnieuw dragen van nagellakken die al in Lacquergram gefotografeerd staan. Ik mis sommige favorieten;
Doorgaan met het maken van seizoens selecties;
Ik heb afgelopen november mijn potje China Glaze fairy dust (een holografische glitter topper) weer bruikbaar gemaakt. Ik wil proberen deze topper elke maand een keer te gebruiken, voordat hij weer te veel indikt;
en ik wil een heel groot project opstarten: namelijk de collectie op swatch sticks zetten en deze organiseren op kleur. Hopelijk helpt dit bij het vinden van kleuren bij de seizoens selecties.
Als ik per doel terugkrijg, is dit mijn evaluatie:
Ik heb mij aan mijn nagelbudget gehouden. Maar ik heb meer nagellakken bij de drogisterij gekocht. Dus in totaal heb ik wel meer potjes nagellak erbij aan het einde van het jaar. Ik heb maar enkele indie nagellakken gekocht.
21% van de collectie is gedurende het jaar gedragen;
Het is mij gelukt om een mix van nieuwe of niet gefotografeerde nagellakken te dragen, maar ook oude en nieuwe favorieten heb ik gedurende het jaar herdragen.
Ik heb elke seizoen (vier keer per jaar) een selectie nagellakken verzameld en per maand maakte ik een kleine selectie daar weer uit.
Het is mij gelukt om alle 12 maanden van het jaar één keer per maand China Glaze Fairy dust te gebruiken. Ik ben heel trots op het succesvol halen van deze challenge.
Het is mij gelukt de hele collectie op swatch sticks te zetten. Het heeft heel veel inzicht gegeven over de omvang en kleuren van de collectie.
Uiteindelijk zijn dit de statistieken voor 2025:
Ik heb 21% van de collectie gedragen;
Ik heb 128 manicures gedragen; dat zijn gemiddeld 10,6 manicures per maand en 2,5 manicures per week;
In totaal is nu 68,3% van de collectie gedocumenteerd in Lacquergram;
De collectie groeide met 86 nagellakken. Iets meer dan verwacht, maar wel binnen budget. De meeste groei is door de aankoop van drogisterijmerk nagellakken.
Swatch sticks of my collection
Last year I formulated the following goals for 2025:
Low buy on nail polish. I would like to buy no indie polishes in 2025 and only buy polishes in the drugstore (limited quantities);
Wear 15% of the collection;
Unworn or not photographed polishes still have a slight priority, but I want to start rewearing polishes that have a picture in Lacquergram. I missed some favourites;
Continue making seasonal selections;
Last November I revived my bottle of China Glaze fairy dust (holographic topper). I want to try to wear it each month in a manicure, before it gets gloopy again;
And I want to start a very big project: I want to swatch out the collection on swatch sticks and organize these swatch sticks in colour families. I hope this will help me with finding colours for the seasonal selections.
Here’s my evaluation for each goal:
I kept to my nail polish budget. I bought more polishes at the drugstore, so in total I added more bottles of polish to the collection. I bought few indie polishes.
I wore 21% of the collection;
I was successful in wearing a mix of new or not photographed polishes and favourites (new and old)
For each season (4 times during the year) I collected a selection of polishes and for each month I made a smaller selection to wear.
I was successful to wear China Glaze Fairy dust once per month for all twelve months. I am very proud of my success with this challenge.
I have put the whole collection on swatch sticks. It provides me with a lot of insight to the amount of polish and the colours in my collection.
Here are my statistics for 2025:
I wore 21% of the collection;
I wore 128 manicures; that is on average 10,6 manicures a month and 2,5 manicures a week;
In total 68,3% of the collection is documented in Lacquergram;
I added 86 nail polishes. Slightly more than expected but I stayed within budget. I mostly added drugstore brand polishes to the collection.
Plans for 2026
Vorig jaar was een succesvol jaar voor mijn doelen. Toch kies ik er voor om weer vergelijkbare (bescheiden) doelen te formuleren:
Ik ga verder met het dragen van een mix van ongedocumenteerde nagellakken en het herdragen van favorieten;
Ik wil mij blijven houden aan mijn nagellak budget en bij voorkeur nagellakken kopen van drogisterij merken. Het werkt erg goed om een nagellak eerst te zien, voordat ik het koop.
Nu de collectie op swatch sticks is gezet, wil ik dat blijven bijhouden.
Ik wil doorgaan met het twee keer per week lakken van de nagels. Vorig jaar ben ik door een stressvolle tijd gegaan en heb ik nog iets vaker mijn nagellak gewisseld. Dat werkte erg goed als ontspanning.
Ik wil doorgaan met het maken van seizoens selecties.
Vorig jaar gaf ik mijzelf de challenge om elke maand een manicure te doen met de topper China Glaze Fairy dust. Dit jaar wil ik mijzelf de challenge te geven om maandelijks een manicure te dragen met Masura Jasmine honey. Ik heb mijn eerste potjes opgemaakt, doordat ik het een periode als enige neutrale nagellak heb gedragen. Mijn nieuwe potje heb ik maar één of twee keer gedragen. Ik kan deze nagellak niet meer kopen, maar ik ben geen nagellak museum. Dus ik wil het graag gebruiken. Als ik het binnen 12 maanden op maak, heb ik ILNP Daisy Jane als volgende aangewezen. Ik ben erg benieuwd hoever ik kom.
Last year I was successful with my goals. This year I choose to keep my goals about the same:
I want to continue to wear a mix of undocumented polishes and rewears of favourites;
I want to keep to my nail polish budget and prefer to buy drugstore nail polishes. It is very good for my purchases to see a polish first, before I buy it.
I have now swatched my collection on swatch sticks, so I want to keep up with that.
I want to continue to polish my nails twice a week. Last year we had a stressful period and I painted my nails more than twice a week. That was very good for relaxation.
I want to continue with making seasonal selections.
Last year I gave myself the challenge to wear China Glaze Fairy dust each month as a topper over a manicure. This year I want to give myself the challenge wear Masure Jasmine honey once a month. I finished my first bottle, when I wore it very regularly as my favourite neutral nail polish. My new bottle is only worn once or twice. Jasmine honey is no longer available to me to buy a new one, but I don’t have a nail polish museum. So I want to use it. If I finish it within 12 months, I want to continue this challenge with ILNP Daisy Jane. I’m very curious how successful I will be.
