De laatste ronde van When Colours Collide was met de thema kleuren Donkerblauw, Wit en Oranje. Dit heb ik ermee gedaan.
Last round of When Colours Collide had the theme colours Dark blue, White and Orange. This is what I was inspired to make.
Floral nail art
Als basis gebruikte ik witte nagellak van Essence. Daarover stempelde ik via de reverse stamping methode ingekleurde bloemen in blauw en oranje.
As base I used white nail polish by Essence. On top I stamped through reverse stamping blue and orange flowers.

Deze keer ben ik een dag later dan gebruikelijk. Ik heb wat problemen met de desktop versie van WordPress waar ik normaal gesproken mijn blogs op schrijf. Uiteindelijk nu dus uitgeweken naar de app op de iPad. Maar dat is allemaal net even anders ingericht. Als ik straks gepubliceerd heb, ben ik erg trots op mijzelf 😅

Net als vorig jaar is Koningsdag in 2021 aangepast ivm de pandemie. Daarom heb ik een extra vrolijke nail art gemaakt.
Just like last year King’s Day is scaled down in 2021 due to the pandemic. So I made an extra happy nail art.
Koningsdag nail art
Ik ben voor holografisch oranje gegaan! En een grappige smiley van een oude stamping plate. Mijn accent nagel heeft een beetje rood, wit, een beetje blauw en oranje. Alle nationale kleuren. Het is heerlijk zonnig, dus ik kon de holo ook op de foto krijgen.
I chose a holographic orange nail polish! And a funny smiley face from an old stamping plate. In my accent nail I managed to get all the national colours: a bit of red, white, a bit of blue and orange. The weather is sunny, so I managed to show off the holo on the picture.

Aangezien het prachtig weer is en het meerendeel van de activiteiten op tv worden uitgezonden, gaan we dat maar missen. We gaan wandelen in de zon in hopelijk een rustig buitengebied. En anders gaan we nog even verder om te kijken of het daar rustiger is. We kijken wel uit naar het online optreden van The Streamers vanavond! Maak er een leuke dag van! Hopelijk is het volgend jaar wel als vanouds.
It’s beautiful spring weather and most of the King’s Day activities are tv shows. So we decided to give it a pass. We plan to go for an outdoor activity: a long walk in a recreational area that is usually quiet. And if it’s not quiet, we will go slightly further and hope that one is quiet. We’re looking forward to the online show of The Streamers tonight! I hope you have a fun day! And hopefully next year it will be more like “normal times”.

Pink spring nail art
Als basis gebruikte ik twee laagjes Catrice More than Nude 08 Shine Pink Like A … en een laagje Catrice x Kaviar gauche C04 Rose d’Or. Hierdoor kregen de nagels een roze gloed met ook klein beetje gouden shimmer. Alleen zie je er niets van op de foto. Daarna stempelde ik steeds dezelfde afbeelding in een gradient over de vingers. Eerst wit, dan lichtroze, dan middenroze en tot slot dieproze.
The base was created with two coats of Catrice More than Nude 08 Shine Pink Like A … and one coat of Catrice x Kaviar gauche C04 Rose d’Or. This gave the nails in the sunlight a pink glow with a bit of golden shimmer. It sadly didn’t show up in the pictures. Then I stamped the same image from light to dark. I started with white, then followed light and medium pink and I ended with dark pink.

Japanse sierkers / cherry blossom
Om ons op te vrolijken (Koningsdag is wederom een thuis-dag) een mooie foto van een Japanse sierkers. Helaas staat deze boom niet in mijn eigen tuin, maar toen ik er langs wandelde – toevallig met camera – heb ik er heel veel foto’s van gemaakt.
To raise our spirits, here’s a beautiful picture of cherry blossom. I would love a tree in my own garden, but there’s no room. So when I walked past one (and I had my camera on me) I took many pictures!
Ik heb vier kleurtjes gekocht van de essence pretty fast nail polish lijn. Ik vond het schattige kleine flesjes (5 ml) en was benieuwd of het echt zo snel zou zijn. De kleuren samen vormen ook een mooie skittle, dus zo laat ik ze vandaag ook zien.
I bought four colours from the essence pretty fast nail polish line. I liked the cute little bottles (5 ml / 0.16 fl.oz.) and wanted to try them if they really dry as fast. The colours together make en nice skittle, so that’s how I will be showing them today.

Op mijn wijsvinger heb ik kleur 01 Quick’n Pink. Op mijn middelvinger 02 Blush rush. Op mijn ringvinger 03 Ready steady red. Op mijn pink 04 Cherry on the run. De namen zijn grappig en moeten benadrukken hoe snel ze wel niet drogen. Ter vergelijking had ik de reguliere witte nagellak (Wild White Ways) op mijn duim. Ik heb het niet getimed, maar de pretty fast nagellakken waren wel sneller droog. Maar echt super snel zou ik het ook weer niet noemen. Ik heb van alle kleuren twee laagjes aangebracht. Maar 03 Ready steady red had een extra laagje kunnen gebruiken. Terwijl 04 Cherry on the run eigenlijk al in 1 laag dekte. Ik droeg het drie dagen voordat ik mijn nagels weer opnieuw lakte en het zag er toen nog heel netjes uit. (base coat, twee lagen kleur, top coat)
On my pointer finger I have colour 01 Quick’n Pink. On my middle finger it’s 02 Blush rush. On my ring finger I have 03 Ready steady red. On my little finger it’s 04 Cherry on the run. The names are funny and supposedly emphasis that it’s really quick drying. For comparison I wore the regular white polish (wild white ways) on my thumb nail. I didn’t time it, but the pretty fast nail polishes were quicker in dry time. I just wouldn’t call it really fast. I wore from each colour two coats. But 03 Ready steady red would have benefitted from an extra coat. And 04 Cherry on the run had full coverage in one coat. I wore it for three days before I changed my nail polish and it held really good. (base coat, two colour coats, top coat)

Stamped roses nail art
Als basis gebruikte ik witte nagellak van Essence. Ik heb mijn vorige potje Wild White Ways nog niet op, maar was nieuwsgierig naar de versie in de Shine last & go uitvoering. Ik ben er heel blij mee. Twee makkelijk aan te brengen laagjes voor goede dekking. Erover heen stempelde ik rozen in roze en grijs. Ik had mij laten inspireren door een dekbed overtrekset, waarbij de rozen niet helemaal perfect zijn. Het lukte niet altijd, maar de meeste rozen zijn inderdaad niet perfect opgepakt. Ik had daarvoor ook een oude stempel gepakt die niet meer helemaal lekker werkt.
As base I used white nail polish by Essence. My bottle of the old formula is not yet finished, but I was too curious and tried the Shine last & go version of Wild White Ways. I’m really happy with the results. Two easy coats for full coverage. On top I stamped roses in pink and grey. I was inspired by a bed spread, where the roses were slightly imperfect. It didn’t go as planned on every nail, but most roses were indeed slightly imperfect. I used an old stamper for this, so I knew the roses wouldn’t be picked up perfectly.

Als basis koos ik OPI Gargantuan Green Grape met erover in groen gestempelde takjes. Op mijn accent nagel gebruikte ik OPI Closer Than You Might Belem met een in goud gestempelde paaseieren, die ik op mijn stempel heb ingekleurd.
As base I used OPI Gargantuan Green Grape with green twigs stamped on top. On the accent nail I used OPI Closer Than You Might Belem with stamped Easter eggs in gold. I coloured the eggs on my stamper before placing on the nail.

Ik hoop dat iedereen fijne paasdagen heeft (gehad). Het was de tweede Pasen in lockdown. Vorig jaar begon ik rond pasen met het maken van foto’s van de lentebloemen in de tuin. En dat doe ik nog steeds op instagram! Het was opnieuw een feestdag met videobellen. En vreemd genoeg worden we er steeds handiger in. Waarschijnlijk om dat we het meer gewend zijn geworden. Nog even volhouden en dan hebben we hopelijk snel weer normale feestdagen!
I hope that everyone had a nice time this Easter. It was the second Easter in lockdown. Last year I started with taking pictures from the spring flowers in our garden and placing them on my instagram. I’m still doing that! It was another holiday with video calls. And as weird as it sounds, we’re getting better at it. Or maybe more used to it. We need to hang on a little longer and than we can celebrate the holidays like we used to and want to!
Deze ronde van When Colours Collide had de thema kleuren Geel, Paars en Zwart. Eerst dacht ik aan lente en Pasen, maar uiteindelijk koos ik toch een meer abstracte vorm.
This round of When Colours Collide had the theme colours Yellow, Purple and Black. At first I thought about doing something with spring or Easter, but in the end I chose for more of an abstract nail art.

Ik koos geel als de basiskleur en alle nagels kregen twee laagjes Catrice ICONails 68 Turn the lights on. Daarover bracht ik eerst wat paarse vegen aan (dry brush) en daarna stempelde ik er in zwart takjes over.
I chose to use yellow as my base colour and all nails received two coats of Catrice ICONails 68 Turn the lights on. Then I added the purple dry brush and then I stamped an image of twigs in black.

Iedereen die online nagelfilmpjes op YouTube kijkt, kent Cristine van Simply Nailogical. Ik volg haar al jaren en luister ook graag naar haar podcast. Inmiddels heeft Cristine haar eigen nagellak merk Holo Taco en een van de nieuwe kleuren is Green Screen. Op YouTube had ze een video gezet van haar Green Screen groene nagels met de uitdaging er iets mee te doen. En zowaar dat heb ik ook gedaan (net als heel veel anderen!). Ik maakte onderstaande video en zette het als Reel op Instagram. Mijn eerste online video. Want ook al kan ik wel een beetje overweg met video software, ik weet hoeveel werk het is en daarom houd ik toch liever bij fotografie. Gisteren kwam haar reactievideo uit met een compilatie van heel veel inzendingen. En mijn filmpje zat erbij! Ik had echt even een fan girl moment!
Everybody that watches online nail art content on YouTube know Cristine of Simply Nailogical. I follow her for many years and I also love her podcast with Ben. Cristine also has her own nail polish brand Holo Taco and one of their new colours is Green Screen. On YouTube she placed a video of her nails painted in Green Screen with the challenge to do something with it. And I did (as did many others!). I made this video and put it as a Reel on Instagram. It’s my first online video. Even though I know a bit about video editing, I also know how much work it is. That’s why I prefer photography. Yesterday Cristine published her reaction video with a compilation of the many fan made submissions. And I made it into the video! It was a big fan girl moment!
Green Screen nails
Op mijn gepubliceerde reel staat helaas haar naam verkeerd. Ik weet echt dat het Cristine zonder H is, maar tja, autocorrect he.
On my published reel her name was spelled wrong. I really know it’s Cristine with no H, but well, autocorrect…
De astrologische lente is vandaag begonnen! De dagen zijn weer langer licht, het weer wordt weer zonniger en de natuur krijgt voorzichtig weer kleur. Vooral de krokussen doen het dit jaar erg goed. Ik heb mij door ze laten inspireren en deze nail art gemaakt.
Spring has officially begun on the calendar! The days are lengthening, the weather is more sunny and nature is setting its first step towards more colour. Especially the crocuses are doing very well this year. I let myself be inspired by the many I encountered and I made this nail art.
Crocuses nail art
We hebben in de omgeving voornamelijk paarse krokussen, maar ook gele. Daarom koos ik OPI Sun, Sea and Sand in My Pants als basis kleur. Ik stempelde met een afbeelding van stempelplaat BM-XL216 en terwijl het nog op mijn stempel zat heb ik de afbeelding ingekleurd met twee verschillende paarstinten van essence.
In our area we have mostly crocuses in different shades of purple, but also yellow ones. So I chose OPI Sun, Sea, and Sand in My Pants as the base. I stamped an image from stamping plate BM-XL216 and while on my stamper I coloured it in with two purple shades from essence.

Crocusses
Om de boel wat op te vrolijken hier nog wat foto’s van echte krokussen. En wat vrolijkheid kunnen we wel gebruiken nu de cijfers met corona besmettingen weer oplopen. Ik hoop dat de reeds gestarte versoepelingen niet weer teruggedraaid worden…
And to cheer it up here’s some pictures of real crocuses. And some cheering up is welcome here, since the corona numbers are rising again in the Netherlands. I hope that all the relaxations that have happened will not be followed by new restrictions…
De themakleuren voor When Colours Collide waren Groen, Goud en Zwart en met St Patrick’s Day aan de horizon deze week, besloot ik met dat thema een nail art te maken.
The theme colours for When Colours Collide were Green, Gold and Black. With St Patrick’s Day around the corner I decided to use that as my theme for the nail art.

Op mijn Pinterest had ik al een tijdje een inspiratiefoto staan die ik het beste kan omschrijven als groen marmer met gouden aderen. Dat kwam als eerste in mij op bij de kleuren van deze ronde. St Patrick’s kwam eigenlijk als tweede, dus kreeg dat de accentnagel. Helaas pakte ik de verkeerde top coat en is mijn klaver wat uitgeveegd.
I had saved an inspiration picture of green marble with gold veins on my Pinterest board for future nail art design. That was my first idea to do with these colours. St Patrick’s came second and was added as an accent nail. Sadly I grabbed the wrong top coat, so my clover ended up a bit smudged.

Wikkid polish Tangerine

Dit is een prachtige oranje lineaire holo, die in direct licht volledig transformeert. Ik draag hier twee laagjes met top coat.
This is a beautiful orange lineair holo nail polish. In direct lighting it’s so different. I’m wearing two coats with top coat.

Wikkid polish Amnesia rose in indirect light and direct light.
Weer een prachtige lineaire holo. Dit keer in een koele roze tint. Ik draag hier twee laagjes met top coat.
Again a beautiful lineair holo polish. This time it’s a cool pink. I’m wearing two coats with top coat.
Nu gaan we verder met twee multichrome nagellakken. Eentje van mijn kerst kado en eentje die ik eerder heb gekregen.

Deze nagellak is van een eerdere bestelling, maar had nog geen aandacht gekregen op de blog. Het is een multichrome nagellak die wisselt tussen de kleuren groen, aqua en blauw. De wisseling is heel sterk en ik vind het prachtig.
This nail polish is from an earlier order, but I had not given it any attention on the blog. It’s a multichrome nail polish that switches between green, aqua and blue. It has a really strong shift and I love it.

Dit is twee laagjes, maar een derde had misschien gemogen. Het is een hele shifty multichrome van paars naar blauw, met wat brons aan de randen. Je ziet de paars en blauw goed op de nagels, maar ook dat het wat lichter is aan de randen bij mijn wijsvinger.
This is two coats of Wikkid Ophelia and I think a third coat might have helped. It’s a very shifty multichrome going from purple to blue with a little bronze at the far ends. The blue and purple are very good visible on my nails, but at the sides of my pointer finger you see it’s getting lighter.
Ik heb al de zilveren holo topper Star Dust en de gouden versie stond al een tijd op mijn wensenlijst. Deze is net zo mooi als ik mij had voorgesteld. Dit is een laagje over Ophelia.
I already have the silver holo topper Star Dust and the golden version was on my wish list for some time. It’s just as beautiful as I had imagined.This is one coat over Ophelia.

Dit zijn twee laagjes met het magnetische effect van Philosopher’s Stone. Dit is een oudroze tint met een gouden streep waar de magneet gehouden wordt.
Here’s two coats with the magnetic effect of Philosopher’s Stone. This is a faded pink with a golden effect where the magnet has been held.
Helaas zag ik na het schrijven van deze blogpost dat niet al deze kleuren nog te koop zijn op de website van Wikkid polish. En door de Brexit is levering aan de EU tijdelijk opgeschort.
Sadly after writing this post I discovered that not all the polishes mentioned are available at the moment on the webshop of Wikkid polish. And due to Brexit EU shipping is temporarily unavailable.
