Four swatches of nude indie polishes

Nu de kinderen weer naar school zijn, is het thuiswerken ook weer volledig opgestart. Ik bof dat mijn werkgever de afgelopen periode heel flexibel is geweest. Deels was het noodzaak, want het duurde even voordat het remote werken goed draaide. Deels is het ook gewoon omdat ze zo enorm meedenken met de privé situatie van medewerkers. De eerste tijd thuiswerken droeg ik alle gekke combinaties nail art en nagellak door elkaar. Maar na een tijdje merkte dat het toch professioneler voelde om mijn vaak gekozen (zie hier, hier en hier) pinkish nude kleurtjes op te hebben. Om toch wat variatie te hebben, heb ik een aantal indie versies gekocht in deze kleurstrekking.

The kids are back to school and working from home has also fully started. I’m very lucky that my employer was really flexible. That was partly out of necessity because the systems for remote working took some time to be fully operational. And partly because they really took the effort to look at the private situations of employees. At first while working from home I wore al kinds of crazy nail art and nail polish combinations. But after awhile I learned that I felt more professional wearing my pinkish nude nail polish colours (see here, here and here). To have more variation I bought some indie polishes in this colour family.

Masura Jasmine Honey

De eerste swatch van vandaag heb ik al eerder laten zien. Alleen is dit mijn nieuwe flesje. Inderdaad, ik merkte dat ik zo vaak mijn “speciale” nude nagellak droeg, dat ik een nieuwe nodig had.

First swatch today has already been featured on the blog before. But this is my new bottle. Yes you read it right. I noticed I was reaching for my “special” nude polish so often, that I needed a new bottle.

Masura Jasmine Honey, three coats and top coat — Masura Jasmine Honey

Masura Jasmine Honey is een koelere en meer beige nude. Het heeft een subtiele roze shimmer en hologlitter. Ik laat hier drie laagjes zien met top coat. Masura heeft een smalle kwast in de potjes. In het begin was ik hier niet zo’n fan van, maar inmiddels weet ik het goed te gebruiken.

Masura Jasmine Honey is a more cool-toned beige nude. It has a subtle pink shimmer en and small holographic glitters. I’m showing three coats with top coat. Masura has skinny brushes. At first I didn’t like them, but now I know how to use them.

Painted Polish Ruffles and Romance

Painted Polish is voor mij een nieuw merk. Erg fijn vond ik het om op te merken dat ze een brede kwast in het potje hebben. De kleur Ruffles and Romance is een pinkish nude met een gouden shimmer en wat grotere holografische glitters. Ik laat hier twee laagjes zien met top coat.

Bow nail polish Legacy

Bow nail polish is ook een nieuw merk voor mij. Hier vond ik een gemiddelde brede kwast in het potje. De kleur Legacy is een meer peachy nude met een roze shimmer, fijne holografische glitter en flakies. Ik draag hier twee laagjes met top coat.

Bow polish is another new to me brand. In this bottle I found a medium wide flat brush. The colour Legacy is a more peachy nude with a strong pink shimmer, very fine holographic glitter and colour shifting flakies. I’m showing you two coats with top coat.

I Love Nail Polish (ILNP) CEO

Als laatste wil ik je deze aanwinst laten zien. Ik heb van ILNP nog maar een andere nagellak. Daarom wilde ik graag nog een andere kleur van ze uitproberen. CEO is wat mij betreft een perfecte pinkish nude met kleine holografische glitters. ILNP heeft een medium kwastje in het potje. Ik laat hier drie laagjes zien met top coat.

My final new polish is this one. I own just one other ILNP polish. So I was curious to try another colour by them. CEO is in my opinion the perfect pinkish nude with small holographic glitters. ILNP has a medium wide flat brush. I’m showing three coats with top coat.

Staycation

Deze zomer hebben we een staycation gedaan, zoals ik ook zei in deze blog. Het was een andere ervaring dan wanneer je vertrekt naar een vakantiebestemming. Toch is het gelukt om de vakantie ervaring in ons eigen huis te creëren. We hebben anders gegeten, uitstapjes gedaan en een vakantie ritme aangehouden. En het was heerlijk! Het gaat dus een hele overgang zijn naar het normale leven, dat morgen met de start van school en werk weer begint.

This summer we had a staycation, like I told in this blog post. A staycation is different from going to a holiday location and celebrate there. Still we managed to create a holiday experience in our own home. We ate different food, went on all kinds of outings and lived in a different rhythm. And it was lovely! It’s going to be a big change going back to “normal” live, starting tomorrow with school and work (from home).

Om onze thuisvakantie af te ronden, heb ik deze nail art gemaakt.

Home sweet home nail art for our staycation

Als basis gebruikte ik Catrice ICONails Creaming of You. Daarover stempelde ik wat tekstuur in goud. Tot slot deed ik wat double stamping in zilver en diverse kleuren met een afbeelding van huisjes.

As base I used Catrice ICONails Creaming of You. On top I stamped a bit of texture in gold. As final step I added the double stamped houses from a KADS stamping plate.

Music Mani takes a road trip

Deze keer was het thema voor de music mani: road trip!

This round of the music mani group had the theme road trip!

Als achtergrond bij mijn keuze wil ik eerst vertellen dat al meer dan 10 jaar geleden we voor het eerst een auto met een multimedia systeem kregen, waar een geheugenkaart voor eigen muziek in kon. Dit beviel ons erg goed en sindsdien was het bij de opvolgers een vereiste. We hebben een lijst in 10 jaar ontwikkeld met klassiekers aangevuld met van ieder jaar een aantal nummers uit de top 40 die ons aanspraken. Dus het is een hele gevarieerde lijst. En hij is inmiddels al urenlang. Altijd als we de Nederlandse grens overgaan, gaat de eigen lijst aan en dan kunnen we uren door voordat er herhaling optreedt.

As background story I want to first explain a bit about our car playlist. About 10 years ago we had a car with a multimedia system which had a memory slot where you could save your own music. Each car after that one had to have one. In over 10 years we created an enormous playlist of classic pop songs with added populair songs of each year that we liked. It’s a very varied list. Every time we pass the Dutch border for our holiday, the list gets played and we can drive for many hours before repetition starts.

Ik heb een keuze gemaakt voor een lied dat we vrij recent aan de playlist hebben toegevoegd, namelijk Roller Coaster van Danny Vera.

Ik had in mijn stash nog magnolia decals. Deze heb ik als basis gebruikt. Op mijn wijsvinger en pink maakte ik een gradient van Essence wild white ways en Essie zip me up. Op mijn wijsvinger plaatste ik er nog een stempel van een gitaar. En op mijn pink tekende ik een lijn die een abstracte interpretatie van een achtbaan is 😉

In my stash I knew I had some magnolia decals. I used those as my base for this nail art. On my pointer finger nail and little finger nail I made a gradient with Essence .. and Essie .. On my pointer finger I added a stamping image of a guitar. And on my little finger I painted a line as an abstract interpretation of a roller coaster 😉

Ondanks dat deze zomer een staycation werd, was het fijn om met deze nail art bezig te zijn. Er komt vast weer een zomer dat we de auto volpakken, de kinderen achterin uren laten kibbelen en we onderweg zijn naar een vakantiebestemming!

Even though this summer we had a staycation, it was nice to create this nail art. I’m sure there will be a summer holiday somewhere in the future where we will pack the car and have the kids bickering in the backseats for hours while we drive to our holiday destination!

Groen en zwart

Deze keer bij When Colours Collide waren de themakleuren Groen en Zwart. Ik heb er een nail art met tropische bladeren van gemaakt.

Als basis gebruikte ik Pistachio van Wikkid Polish, een lichtgroene holografische nagellak. Daaroverheen stempelde ik een ruitpatroon. Daarna stempelde ik er de tropische bladeren overheen. Op mijn ringvinger creëerde ik een accentnagel door de kleuren net anders te kiezen.

As base I used Pistachio by Wikkid Polish. Pistachio is a light green holo nail polish. On top I stamped a pattern. Then I stamped a tropical leave pattern. I created an accent nail on my ring finger by changing the colours slightly.

Dragonfly nail art

Eigenlijk had ik een andere nail art gepland om een post bij te schrijven, maar dat is omgegooid nadat ik een klein magisch momentje per ongeluk kon vastleggen. Er landde een libelle op mijn hand en ik had de camera vast. Ik was namelijk bloemen aan het fotograferen in de tuin.

My original plan was to describe a different nail art here on the blog. But after a small but magical encounter in the garden I changed my plans. A dragonfly landed on my hand while I was holding my camera. I was taking pictures of the garden flowers and now something like this happened.

Op drie nagels (duim, middelvinger en ringvinger) deed ik als basis Catrice More Than Nude 06 Roses Are Rosy en op mijn wijsvinger en pink OPI Can’t Hear Myself Pink! De OPI koos ik op basis van de naam. De Catrice omdat ik het contrast tussen mijn hand en de libelle wilde laten zien.

On three nails (thumb, middle and ring finger) I painted Catrice More Than Nude 06 Roses Are Rosy as base. On my pointer and little finger I chose OPI Can’t Hear Myself Pink! because of the name. I chose the Catrice because I wanted to keep the contrast between the dragonfly and my bare hand.

Tropical fish mani

Deze ronde van When Colours Collide had het thema “Bright”, heldere kleuren dus. Je mocht zwart en wit als accentkleuren gebruiken. Opnieuw ging ik voor vakantie inspiratie en maakte een tropisch koraalrif – soort van 😅. Ooit, voordat er kinderen kwamen, zijn Man en ik op duikvakantie geweest in het Caraïbisch gebied. Mooie herinneringen die best een keer op de nagels mogen worden geschilderd!

This round of When Colours Collide was with the theme “Bright colours”. A little bit of black or white was allowed for accents. Again I chose holidays as my inspiration and made a tropical reef – or something resembling 😅. Once before we became parents, Husband and I want on a diving holiday in the Caribbean. Good memories that deserve to be painted on my nails!

Als basis deed ik Maniology stempellak in Rose Garden op mijn duim en pink en Wikkid polish Dodge’em op mijn wijs-, middel-, en ringvingernagels. Op de blauwe nagels stempelde ik vissen silhouetten en wat waterplanten en koraal.

As base I used Maniology stamping polish Rose Garden on my thumb and little finger. And I used Wikkid polish Dodge’em on my pointer, middle and ring finger nails. On the blue nails I stamped silhouettes of fish and some water plants and coral.

Vakantie in “deze” tijd

Nu is dan eindelijk de zomerperiode aangebroken en mogen we vakantie vieren in “deze” tijd. Ongeveer twee jaar geleden schreef ik al in een blog wat meer over onze vakanties. Inmiddels waren onze vakantie- en reisplannen weer net wat grootser, want met oudere kinderen is weer meer mogelijk. Maar waar we anders naar een geboekte vakantiebestemming waren gegaan (per auto of per vliegtuig), blijven we dit jaar thuis. We noemen het Tuinesië, want dat vinden de kinderen zo grappig. En een beetje humor kan dit jaar wel gebruiken.

Finally the summer break has started last week and we’re trying to find some holiday spirit in “this” time. About two years ago I wrote a blog post about our holiday travels. By now the children are a bit older, so we had just started to think a little more adventurous for our vacations. Usually we go to a pre-booked holiday destination by car (and every once in a while by plane). But this year we’re staying home. We call our staycation Tuinesië (meaning something like Garden-land), because the kids think it sounds so funny. And 2020 can use a little fun.

Ik heb dus maar besloten om van mijn nagels een mooie vakantiebestemming te maken. Blauwe lucht, stralend zonnetje, parelwit strand, palmbomen, een holo parasol 😉 allemaal onderdelen van fijne vakantie herinneringen. Ik vond op een van mijn stempelplaten een geschikte afbeelding en heb deze in kleine stukjes opgeknipt en op mijn nagels gedaan. Mijn duim en pink heb ik effen gelaten met Essie perennial chic, een kleur die lijkt op mijn gebruinde huid.

I decided to paint a nice holiday destination on my nails. Blue sky, bright sun, pearly white beaches, palm trees, a holo parasol 😉 all part of fond holiday memories. I have an image on one of my many stamping plate that I used in small parts for this nail art. I painted my thumb an pink nails with Essie perennial chic without any stamping, because this colour reminds me of my tanned skin.

Ik heb van alles gebruikt voor deze nail art, dus noem ik het op per soort. Negative space and black nail art

De laatste ronde When Colours Collide was met de kleurencombinatie negative space (dus zichtbare nagel) en zwart. Eventueel mocht je met metallic studs het nog verder opleuken. Dit is wat ik ermee heb gemaakt.

Last round When Colours Collide was with the colours negative space (visible nail) and black. If needed you could add some metallic studs. This is what I created.

Op mijn nagels iets egaler van kleur te krijgen, bracht ik eerst een laagje Catrice More than Nude 06 Roses Are Rosy aan. Daarover stempelde ik met zwart een kanten patroon. Tot slot plaatste ik er nog metalen studs bij met behulp van een beetje top coat. Daarna werkte ik het af met een laag top coat over de hele nagel.

I started with a layer Catrice More than Nude 06 Roses Are Rosy to get my nails look more even in colour. Than I stamped a lacy pattern in black and added some golden studs. To finish it off I used a thick layer of top coat.

Aardbeien nail art

In het kader van opvoedkundige doelen hebben we een aantal “eetbare” planten in de tuin staan. Dat zijn een paar aardbeienplanten, een aalbessenstruik en een bramenstruik. Vaak zetten we ook nog snoeptomaten planten in potten neer, maar dat is er dit jaar met de lockdown niet van gekomen. Inmiddels is het aardbeien seizoen in onze tuin voorbij. Ik heb mij door de aardbeien laten inspireren voor een nail art.

As part of our parenting goals we have some edible garden plants. We have a couple of strawberries, a redcurrant bush and a bramble. Usually we add snack tomato plants in large pots, but we missed out on them this year because of the lockdown. Strawberry season is already over. But they are still the inspiration for my nail art today.

Dit is de nail art geworden. Ik heb onder de stempels DA Nails 097 Magical gebruikt en op de andere nagels Masura Mint Breeze. Ik heb deze stempel gehaald van Maniology stempelplaat BM-XL217. Ik heb er een ingekleurde reverse stempel mee gemaakt. De tweede stempel op mijn ringvinger is het best gelukt.

This is how the nail art turned out. Under the stamped nails I used DA Nails 097 Magical and on the other nails I used Masura Mint Breeze. I found the stamping image on Maniology stamping plate BM-XL217. I made a coloured reverse stamping decal. The second decal on my ring finger is the best version.

Mint groen, pastel roze en goud

Hoe gaat het met jullie? Een deel van de wereld is inmiddels gedeeltelijk of volledig uit de lockdowns en kent nog maar een laag aantal nieuwe COVID-19 besmettingen. Op andere plekken op de wereld gaat het virus nog genadeloos rond. Hier in Nederland gaat gefaseerd de zomervakantie starten. De eerste ronde kwam vrijdag uit school om vakantie te houden! Het is nog niet terug naar normaal, maar inmiddels kunnen veel “normale” dingen met de voorschriften van het RIVM wel weer plaats vinden. Wij moeten nog even wachten tot de zomervakantie gaat starten, want we zijn dit jaar de late groep. Ik kijk er erg naar uit. Ook al betekent het dat we weer de hele tijd met zijn allen thuis zijn 😉

How is everyone doing? Some parts of planet Earth are partly or mostly done with the lockdowns imposed because of COVID-19. On other parts the virus is still rampant. Here in the Netherlands the summer breaks are coming. The first regions of the Netherlands that has started the summer break, had their kids home last Friday. Things are not yet completely normal in the Netherlands, but with government guidelines many normal things can take place again. Our region is late with the summer break. I’m really looking forward to it, even though it means that we will all be home again 😉

In ieder geval, laat ik weer eens verder gaan over nagels. Deze ronde van When Colours Collide was Mintgroen, Pastelroze en Goud. En dit is wat ik ermee maakte.

Anyway, let’s talk about nails now. This round of When Colours Collide was Mint, Pastel Pink and Gold. This is what I made.

Ik lakte mijn nagels goud met Revlon TopSpeed 24K. Op alle nagels stempelde ik pastelroze stippen, behalve mijn ringvingernagel. Die kreeg als accent een andere stempel in mintgroen.

I painted my nails golden with Revlon TopSpeed 24L. All nails were stamped wilt pastel pink dots, except for my ring finger. That one was stamped with a different pattern in mint.
