Vorig jaar maakte ik voor het eerst een St. Patrick’s day nail art omdat ik geïnspireerd raakte door al het groen op mijn Pinterest feed. Dit jaar doe ik het gewoon weer, omdat het op mijn vaste blog dag valt!
Last year I made my first St. Patrick’s day nail art, because I was inspired by all the green mani’s in my Pinterest feed. This year I’m doing one, because it’s my regular blogging day!
Ik heb nog steeds geen echte St. Patrick’s stempel. In principe is het symbool voor St. Patrick’s day een driebladige klaver oftewel een shamrock. Ik heb alleen stempels met geluksklavers, en die hebben vier blaadjes. Ik hoop dat er wederom geen probleem van wordt gemaakt. Mijn groen is dit jaar een nieuwe nagellak van Wikkid polish, namelijk Forest.
I still don’t own a true St. Patrick’s stamping pattern. The right symbol for St. Patrick’s is a shamrock (with three leaves) and I only have lucky clovers (with four leaves). But I hope that is forgiven. I used one of my new Wikkid polishes as my green and it’s called Forest.

Essence heeft de nagellaklijn vernieuwd. Eerst heette de nagellak The gel nail polish en nu heet het Shine last and go! gel nail polish. Ook de vorm van de nagellak potjes is veranderd. Ik heb een lakje gekocht om de nieuwe formule uit te proberen. Ik heb gekozen voor Frosted kiss een frost, omdat die altijd moeilijker zijn vanwege de kwastsporen doe je soms kan zien.
Essence has updated their nail polish line. The old line was called The gel nail polish and the new line is Shine last and go! gel nail polish. They have also changed the shape of their nail polish bottles. I bought one polish to try out the revamped formula. I chose Frosted kiss, a frost because they’re always a good judge for their risk of brush strokes.
De nagellak dekte in twee laagjes. Hij ruikt iets anders dan de oude formule, maar dat kan ook door de pigmenten komen. Ik had al gezien in swatch videos dat je deze lak niet te veel moet manipuleren bij het aanbrengen. Gewoon zonder veel druk op de kwast in drie banen de lak op de nagel aanbrengen en laten drogen.
The polish covered in two coats. It smells slightly different from their old formula, but that could also be caused by the pigments. I had already seen in different swatch videos that you can not manipulate this polish that much or it will drag and cause bold spots. Just apply it quickly in three strokes with very little pressure on your brush.
Ik ben erg tevreden in hoeverre de kwastsporen verminderden bij het opdrogen en na een laag top coat was het nog minder. Ik heb een klein accent erop gestempeld. Ik heb de nagellak een paar dagen gedragen en ook de houdbaarheid was ok.
I’m very impressed by how far the brush strokes dries down. With top coat it was even less visible. I stamped a little accent on it and wore the polish for a couple of days. It held up ok.
Dit heb ik gebruikt: essence shine last and go 06 frosted kiss, Dashica beauty shop Infinity Nails 20 en Mundo de Unas stempellak 76 Merry. Merry was mijn eerste stempellak omdat deze kleur zo mooi gebruikt kan worden bij mijn meer neutrale lakken. Alleen… de geur is heel sterk, waardoor ik het dus zelden pak. Jammer.

Merry was my very first stamping polish, because the colour goes so well with many of my neutral polishes. But the smell… is really strong and I use it rarely.

Doordat ik het op het moment wat drukker heb, lukt het mij niet om regelmatig bloemetjes te maken. Dat is jammer, want ik mis het wel. Ik was nu gevraagd om een paar bloemenclipjes te maken, dus dat was een perfect excuus om weer in mijn stofjes te duiken. Oma had een jurk gemaakt en wilde graag bijpassende haarspeldjes. Aangezien de ontvanger van de jurk nog erg klein (en jong) is, zijn het mini bloemetjes geworden.
I’m rather busy at the moment and have little time to maken my floral hair bows. I miss making them, so I was very happy when grandma asked me to make a pair of matching hair bows for a dress. The recipient of the dress is quit small (and young) so I made tiny flower bows.

Nadat ik vorig jaar mijn eerste Wikkid polishes had gewonnen en ik zelfs met kerst een Wikkid had gedragen, heb ik voor het eerst een eigen bestelling geplaatst. Ik heb zes lakjes gekozen en in deze post laat ik er vier zien. Ik laat twee thermal lakken zien (lakken die qua kleur temperatuur gevoelig zijn) en twee multichrome lakken met holografische glitters.
After winning my first Wikkid polishes last year and even wearing a Wikkid for Christmas, I finally ordered some polishes by myself. I placed an order of six polishes in total and today I will show you four. I will show you the two thermal polishes I ordered (polishes that change colour with the temperature) and two polishes that are multichromes with holo glitters.
Wikkid polish Coconut Ice
Als eerste wil ik Wikkid Coconut Ice laten zien. Dit is een thermal lak die van roze (koud) naar bijna wit (warm) gaat. Toen ik deze lak ging swatchen had ik dus hele koude handen. Niet handig als je een temperatuureffect wil laten zien!
First I want to show Wikkid Coconut Ice. It’s a temperature changing polish that goes from pink (cold state) to almost white (warm state). When swatching this polish I had very cold hands. Not such a good thing if you want to show the different states!
Met behulp van een kom warm water kreeg ik nog net deze foto met wat kleurverschil, want het ging heel snel weer terug naar de koude staat. Ik laat hier twee laagjes zien met top coat.

Wikkid polish Stepping out with Iris
Stepping out with Iris is een termal die van paars naar lila gaat. Mijn handen zijn inmiddels iets minder koud, dus ik heb een iets betere foto van het kleurverloop kunnen maken. Vooral op mijn ringvinger ziet het er goed uit. Deze was ook dekkend in twee laagjes en ik heb ook top coat aangebracht. Beide thermo’s drogen namelijk mat op.
Stepping out with Iris is a thermal polish going from purple (cold state) to lilac (warm state). My hands are slightly less cold by now, so my picture is showing the changes better. Especially on my ring finger is the change showing. This one was also two coats. I also used top coat because both thermals dry down matte.
Ik had al een Wikkid polish thermal, namelijk Holiday mode van de giveaway prijs. Ik was nieuwsgierig en heb ze alledrie ook samen gelakt.

Eindelijk heb ik wel warme handen, dus de effecten zijn goed te zien. Van links naar rechts: Wikkid polish Holiday Mode (holo thermal), Coconut Ice (thermal) en Stepping out with Iris (thermal). Ik zie iets zomers en zal er in de toekomst nog wel een nail art mee maken!

Wikkid polish Helene (H)
Een ander type indie lak wat mij heel erg aanspreekt, zijn de multi chromes met holografische glitters. Ik heb er twee gekocht en als eerste laat ik Helene zien. Helene is een multi chrome die de heen en weer gaat tussen de kleuren paars en rood naar brons en warmgeel. Ik denk dat deze nog wat mag wachten tot de herfst.
Another type of indie polish that I really like are the multi chromes with holographic glitter. I bought two and first I will show you Helene. Helene is a multi chrome that changes from purple and red to bronze and warm yellow. I think this is a beautiful colour for autumn.

En hier is Helene in de zon. Kijk eens hoe mooi! Met zoveel verschillende gezichten is het een nagellak die nooit verveeld.

Wikkid polish Pallene (H)
Pallene is wat meer transparant, dus nu had ik drie laagjes nodig om het helemaal dekkend te krijgen. Het multi chrome effect gaat vooral van paars naar groen, maar er zit ook wat blauw, rood en goud tussen.
Pallene has a more transparent base, so I needed three coats to get full coverage. The multi chrome effect goes mainly from purple to green, but you’ll also find some blue, red and gold.

Maar in de zon is de glitter zo sterk, dat mijn camera moeite had om het scherp te krijgen. Dus helaas een bijna scherpe foto.
In direct sunlight the holo sparkle is so strong, that my camera just couldn’t focus. So I have a slightly blurry picture for you.
Ik vind het met multi chromes altijd heel leuk om te zien welke kleur je watje krijgt bij het eraf halen. Helene is bruin en Pallene is donkergrijs, bijna zwart.
With multi chromes I’m always curious how they look on my cotton pad after removal. Helene is brown and Pallene is dark grey, almost black.
Het is weer tijd voor een nieuwe When Colours Collide. Deze keer zijn de kleuren Chartreuse en Bruin. Voor wie de kleur Chartreuse nog niet kent: deze kleur zit tussen groen en geel in en is vernoemd naar een Franse likeur.
It’s time for a new When Colours Collide! This time the colour scheme is Chartreuse and Brown. For the people unknown to the colour Chartreuse: it’s between green and yellow and named after a French liquor.
Ik raakte niet echt geïnspireerd door deze kleur combinatie en heb daarom zomaar een – nog ongebruikte – stempelplaat uitgekozen en daar iets leuks mee gemaakt. Ik had alleen last bij mijn ringvinger dat een deel van de afbeelding omklapte en ook op mijn nagel bleef plakken.
I was not really inspired by this colour combination and just picked – a still unused – stamping plate and went on with it. On my ring finger the image collapsed back on the nail, so it got a bit messy there.

Voor het eerst sinds jaren weer carnaval gevierd, maar nu met de kinderen erbij! Mijn broer en zijn gezin wonen in een stad waar carnaval goed gevierd wordt. We hebben naar de kinderoptocht gekeken. Uiteraard waren we allemaal verkleed. De kids hadden de kostuums voor papa en mama uitgekozen en zo waren wij Mario en Prinses Peach.
For the first time in a couple of years we celebrated carnaval, kids included! My brother and his family live in a town where carnaval is really celebrated. We watched the junior parade. Of course we were all dressed up. The kids chose our costumes so Mom and Dad were Princess Peach and Mario.

Het afronden van de Pantone challenge was erg leuk. Twee dagen terug was de laatste kleur op insta gepost. Vandaag heb ik de collage van de totale challenge gepost. Elke dag posten op insta kostte veel tijd, heel veel tijd. Het was een eenmalige leuke ervaring, maar het is niet realistisch in de rest van mijn leven in te passen.

Finishing the Pantone challenge was great. Two days ago the last swatch was posted on insta. Today I posted the collage with all the swatches of the challenge. It took a lot of time to post for 10 days straight on insta. It was a good experience, but it’s not something I can fit in my normal daily routine and life.
Maniology Mystery Box
Ik wilde al een tijdje een bestelling plaatsen bij Maniology. Toen ik unboxings langs zag komen van de Mystery Boxes in mijn stories wist ik dat dit mijn kadootje voor mijn instaversary ging worden. Ik kreeg de bestelling na ong. 10 dagen. Het was compact verpakt. De actie was 20 items voor 20 dollar en ik had inderdaad 20 items. Laten we het maar eens bekijken!
I wanted to order with Maniology for some time. When I saw unboxings in my insta stories, I knew that this Mystery Box was going to by my first blogiversary present. I received the order after approximately 10 days. It was a tiny package in an envelope. De deal was you would get 20 items for 20 dollar and I did receive 20 items. Let’s look at them!

Ik heb 5 nail vinyls ontvangen, 3 sets nail wraps, 8 stempelplaten en 4 stempelnagellakken. Niet afgebeeld zijn het snoepje en de stickers die ook in de envelop zaten. De vinyls en wraps zijn uniek, maar de platen vergelijk ik wel even snel met mijn collectie.
I received 5 nail vinyls, 3 sets of nail wraps, 8 stamping plates and 4 stamping polishes. Not pictured are the candy and the stickers that were also in the envelope. The vinyls and wraps are unique for me, but the stamping plates get a quick review in comparison to my collection.
Hier is een iets betere foto van de kleine ronde stempelplaten. Ik heb ze kort vergeleken met mijn collectie. Ik heb wel vergelijkbare patronen in mijn Dashica SDP platen serie, maar niet deze. En ik heb een plaat van BornPretty met patronen voor French tips, maar ook die zijn anders.
This is a slightly better picture of the small round stamping plates. I compared them quickly to my collection. In both cases I have similar but not the same. I own a lot of Dashica SDP plates and they have similar patterns, but these are different. And I have a plate by BornPretty with patterns for French tips, but again they’re different.
Opnieuw vergeleek ik deze stempelplaten met mijn collectie. Rechts bovenin is een plaat met dieren. Ik heb iets vergelijkbaars van BornPretty, maar dan met andere dieren. Links bovenin is een plaat met herfst dieren afbeeldingen. Ik heb een vergelijkbare plaat van MoYou London, maar ook deze is anders. Het grootste verschil hier is dat de dieren kleiner zijn, waardoor het waarschijnlijk wel op mijn nagels zal passen. De MoYou plaat heeft te grote dieren en daarom heb ik hem nog nooit gebruikt. De onderste platen zijn uit de Mystic Woods serie en perfect voor led lighting of reverse stamping. Het zijn bloemenpatronen. Ik heb vergelijkbare – mandala – patronen bij Dashica Infinity platen, maar deze zijn gelukkig anders.
Again I compared these plates with my collection. Top row right is a plate with animals. I have something similar by BornPretty, but with different animals. Top row left is a plate with forest animals. I have something similar by MoYou London, but never used it. The MoYou London plate has larger images and the animals won’t fit my narrow and curvy nails. The bottom row are plates form the Mystic Woods series and they’re perfect for led lighting or reverse stamping. They all have floral patterns. I have similar – mandala – patterns in m Dashica Infinity plates, but these are different.
Ik heb twee grote stempelplaten ontvangen en ze zijn allebei uit de collab collectie. De bovenste is BM-XL214 en staat vol met eenhoorns. Ik heb ook eenhoorns op een plaat van BornPretty, maar die zijn heel anders. Ik heb de BornPretty plaat nog nooit gebruikt (ik had nog niet zo’n grote eenhoornbehoefte) en ik weet ook niet zo goed of ik deze plaat zal gebruiken.
De onderste plaat is BM-XL215 en deze plaat is uniek in mijn collectie. Dit is een hele gedetailleerde plaat waarin alle seizoenen en grote feestdagen op langskomen. Dit is een plaat waar ik wel heel veel gebruik van zal maken!
I received two large stamping plates and they’re both from the blogger collab series. De top one is BM-XL214 and has a lot of unicorns. I also have unicorn images on a BornPretty plate, but they are different. I have never used the BornPretty plate, since I did not have a huge need for unicorns on my nails. I’m also not sure if I will use this plate.
The bottom plate is BM-XL215 and that one is unique in my collection. It’s a very detailed plate with images for every season and major Holliday. I’m sure I will use this plate often!
Ik ontving vier stempellakken in de kleuren (met de klok mee): Storm cloud (grijs), Rose garden (fel zalmroze), Eldorado (paars) and Empire club (neon groen). Ik heb ze uitgeprobeerd op swatch sticks met mijn oudste Maniology plaat BM-703. Het is helaas geen hele goede foto (de zon ging net weg achter de wolken), maar ik ben er heel blij mee. Hier ga ik zeker vaak gebruik van maken!
I received four stamping polishes in the colours (clockwise): Storm cloud (gray), Rose garden (bright salmon pink), Eldorado (bright purple) and Empire club (neon green). I tried them on swatch sticks with my oldest Maniology stamping plate BM-703. It’s not the best picture (it just started to get cloudy), but I’m very happy. I think I will use them often!
Mijn conclusie is dat de box zijn geld dubbel dik waard was, zelfs met de internationale verzendkosten erbij. Hebben jullie wel eens een mystery bundel gekocht? Was je blij met de inhoud?
In conclusion my opinion is that the box is worth every dollar, even with international shipping added. Did you ever buy a mystery bundle? Were you happy with the content?
Catrice heeft het assortiment vernieuwd en ik heb een aantal leuke dingen meegenomen. Ik weet niet of ik alles speciale aandacht ga geven in de blog, maar twee lakken van de nieuwe lijn “More than nude” nagellakken wilde ik je wel laten zien. In totaal bestaat deze lijn uit 5 tinten. Het zijn allemaal transparante lakken met een shimmer die je nagels er net even wat mooier en gezonder uit laten zien. De kleuren Pearly Ballerina en Rosey-o & Sparklet spraken mij het meeste aan en mochten mee.
Catrice had had their seasonal update and I bought some fun things. I probably won’t give everything attention on the blog, but I wanted to show you two polishes from their new line “More than nude” nail polish. This line consists of five polishes. They’re all sheer polishes with a little shimmer designed to make your nails look just a bit prettier and healthier. I bought the colours Pearly Ballerina and Rosey-o & Sparklet.
Catrice More than Nude nail polish 02 Pearly Ballerina
Pearly Ballerina is een off-white nagellak met een blauwe shimmer. Hierdoor toont het nog wat witter op de nagels. Deze lak was niet zo makkelijk aan te brengen en bleef wat streperig. Uiteindelijk zie je dat nauwelijks op de foto. Ik draag twee laagjes op de foto en de natuurlijke nagelrand kan je nog steeds zien (dat hoor ook bij deze nagellakken).
Pearly Ballerina is an off-white nail polish with blue shimmer. Because of the shimmer it shows even whiter on the nails than in the bottle. I had a little difficulty painting this polish, it was a bit streaky. In the end on the photo it hardly showed. I’m wearing two coats and there is still visible nail lines (but with sheer polishes that is meant to happen)
Catrice More than Nude nail polish 05 Rosey-o & Sparklet
Rosey-o & Sparklet is een rozige nude tint met fuchsia shimmer. Ik vond van deze lak de naam zo grappig, daarom ging hij mee. Deze nagellak lakte super makkelijk! Het was droom om aan te brengen en ik droeg het daarna ook nog eens een week. Ik had een klein beetje slijtage aan de randen, maar dat hield hij prima vol. Op de foto draag ik twee laagjes en met een derde laagje zal hij nog iets meer dekkend kunnen zijn.
Rosey-o & Sparklet is a pinkish nude with a hot pink shimmer. I bought this polish for the name, I think it’s funny. This nail polish was super easy to apply. I wore it for a full week with only some tip wear. So this is a polish dream! I’m wearing two coats on the picture. It would even have more coverage with a third.

Er zijn alweer twee weken voorbij, tijd voor een nieuwe When Colours Collide! Dit keer was het Geel, Rood en Oranje. De moeilijkheid was dat deze kleuren niet als pastel gebruikt mochten worden. Ik koos drie nagellakken van Catrice en besloot om opnieuw met nail vinyls op mijn stempel te werken.
Another two weeks have passed, time to show you the new When Colours collide! This time the colours were Yellow, Red and Orange. The extra challenge was to use bright shades, no pastel shades were allowed. I chose three polishes by Catrice and used nail vinyls with a clear stamper.
De gele lak van Catrice bleek wat transparant en pas na een derde dikke laag dekte het voldoende. Dus als het eruit ziet als een dikke laag over deze nagels klopt het. Eerst drie lagen gele nagellak, daarna de gestempelde nail vinyls en tot slot nog een dikke laag top coat.
If it looks like there is a big blob of polish on my middle fingers, you saw that right. It took three coats of polish to get that yellow polish to full coverage. And the final coat was quit generous… After the nail art I also used a generous coat of top coat… so it was a thick layer in the end!

Lizmo van @nailsoflizmo heeft haar eerste jaar op instagram gevierd met een collab. Ze was de winter alweer helemaal zat en vroeg of iedereen een tropische nail art wilde maken. Ik had meteen een paar ideeën: de ‘turn it sunny’ topcoat van essence, roze (lievelingskleur van Lizmo) en een stempelplaat van BornPretty die ik nog niet had gebruikt.
Lizmo of @nailsoflizmo has celebrated her first instaversary with a collab. She was already done with the winter season and asked of people wanted to join her by creating a tropical nail art. Immediately a couple of ideas came to mind: the ‘turn it sunny’ top coat by essence, pink (favourite colour of Lizmo) and a stamping plate of BornPretty I had not yet used.
Voor de topcoat maakte ik een gradient van geel naar roomwit. Op de andere nagels gebruikte ik Catrice spectra light Iridescent Illusion. Op de nagels met gradient stempelde ik ook nog een roze flamingo.
To create something for the essence top coat, I made a gradient from yellow to off-white. On the other nails I painted Catrice spectra light Iridescent Illusion. Over the top coated gradient I stamped a pink flamingo.

Ik vond het jammer dat het effect van de top coat niet zo goed op de foto zichtbaar was. Soms laat een foto dus niet alles zien.
Sadly the effect of the top coat did not translate on the pictures. Sometimes a picture doesn’t show all that is on your nails.
