Polished Pantone S/S19 deel 1

Toen Maria @thenailpolishhoarder stopte met de organisatie van #itpantone2018 hebben Julia @juliabrenchley en ik deze later afgemaakt. Nu zijn we samen de challenge #PolishedPantoneSS19 gestart, omdat we het toch weer erg leuk vinden om het seizoenspalet te swatchen. Als je mijn blog al een tijdje volgt, weet je dat ik het superleuk vind om passende nagellak kleuren te vinden bij de seizoenstinten van Pantone. In principe zijn we de challenge voor onszelf gestart, maar er doen nu ook andere mensen mee en daar zijn we ontzettend blij mee! Ook zijn we heel blij met de mooie collages die we op instagram mogen gebruiken van Lady Basil/ Reyhan S.D. We started this challenge for ourselves, but are very happy more people are joining! We’re also very happy with the beautiful collages we’re allowed to use on insta by Lady Basil/ Reyhan S.D. Hier zie je onze planning. We hebben de volgorde een beetje door elkaar gedaan, zodat niet alle geeltinten of oranje tinten achter elkaar zouden zijn. Ook slaan we Pink Peacock over, omdat deze ook onderdeel was van het herfst/ winter palet. We hebben ook elke paar swatches een nail art optie toegevoegd. Als je dan toch kleuren heb gekozen bij ieder thema, waarom ze niet combineren tot een art?

Here’s our calendar with all the dates. We changed the order of the colours a bit, so we would not have to swatch all the yellow and orange shades after each other. Every couple of swatches we added an option to make a nail art with the previous colours. If you’ve chosen your polishes with the themes, why not combine them and make it art?

Pantone Jester Red

We zijn de challenge gemakkelijk geopend met een meer klassieke rood tint. Rode nagellak heeft bijna iedereen wel. Ik koos uit mijn collectie L’Oreal Rubis Folies. Ik laat hier twee laagjes zien.

We started the challenge with an easier more classic red shade. Red nail polish is very common and almost everyone has some. I chose a polish from my collection: L’Oreal Rubis Folies. I’m showing two coats.

Pantone Fiesta

Fiesta kwam daarna. Dit is oranjerode tint. Ik koos voor Catrice ICONails 57 Make Your Polish A Priority. Ik draag twee laagjes.

Fiesta was next. This is an orangey red shade. I chose for Catrice ICONails 57 Make Your Polish A Priority. I’m showing two easy coats.

Pantone Pepper Stem

Pantone Pepper Stem is een groene tint die ik niet kon matchen met mijn collectie. Als ik dan toch een groene nagellak moet kopen (zo vervelend 😉), wilde ik liever iets dat “anders” was. Ik koos voor Masura Forest Fairy, een jelly met flakies. Ik heb vier (!) dunne laagjes aangebracht, maar wat een prachtige effect heeft deze nagellak!

Pantone Pepper Stem is a green shade that I could not match with my collection. So I needed to buy a new green polish. I wanted something a little different, so I chose Masura Forest Fairy, a jelly with flakies. I applied four (!) thin coats, but this is really beautiful.

Tot slot maakte ik dus een nail art met de kleuren van deze periode. Ik wist niet zo goed hoe ik iets kon maken met zulke verschillende nagellakken. Ik besloot er een smoosh marble mee te maken en ik vind het heel mooi geworden!

Lastly I made a nail art with the colours of this period. I did not really know what to do with such different polishes, so I decided to make a smoosh marble. I really like the result!

Nail art tour London

Katja van @tesladaynails heeft een kleine challenge georganiseerd naar aanleiding van de stedentrip die ze naar Londen heeft gemaakt. Een paar jaar geleden (wat gaat de tijd toch snel!) hebben Man en ik ook een trip naar Londen gemaakt. De opdracht was om “Iconic London Sights” in nail art te gebruiken. Ik heb mij laten inspireren door twee foto’s die Man op onze trip heeft genomen.

Katja of @tesladaynails hosted a small challenge inspired by the city trip she made to London. A couple of years ago (time goes by so fast!) Husband and I also made a city trip to London. Katja’s prompt was to use “Iconic London Sights” and turn them into nail art. I was inspired to use two pictures taken by Husband during our trip.

Ik heb een lichtblauwgrijze ondergrond gekozen en met donkerder grijs en rood gestempeld. Omdat ik geen echte rode stempellak heb, heb ik de bus eerst in het wit gestempeld en toen rood erover. Dat effect vond ik veel mooier. Jammer dus dat ik dat niet met de telefooncel ook heb gedaan.

I used a light grey (with blue undertones) polish as base and stamped over it with grey and red. Since I don’t own a red stamping polish, I changed plans with the bus. First in white and then red. I liked the effect much better. I wished I had done the same with the phone booth.

Sneeuwklokjes

Ik heb mij net als vorig jaar laten inspireren door de vroege lentebloeiers. Toen maakte ik blauwe druifjes op mijn nagels, nu heb ik sneeuwklokjes op mijn nagels gemaakt!

I got my inspiration today of early spring flowers. Last year I made muscari, now I made snowdrops on my nails!

Als basis heb ik drie laagjes van Essie Inside Scoop gelakt. Daarna heb ik twee keer een decal gemaakt van de sneeuwklokjes op Maniology plaat BM-XL215. Op mijn middelvinger plaatste ik de decal meer naar rechts en op mijn ringvinger meer naar links. Daardoor ziet het er op beide vingers anders uit.

As base I painted three coats of Essie Inside Scoop. Then I made two decals of the snowdrop image on Maniology plate BM-XL215. On my middle finger I placed the decal more to the right and on my ring finger more to the left. So both nails look slightly different.

Ik heb ook een foto gemaakt van mijn nagels bij mijn inspiratie. Ik vind het goed gelukt!

I also made picture of my nails in front of my inspiration. I a happy with how they turned out!

Paars en rode hoedjes

Deze keer waren de kleuren voor When Colours Collide Paars en Rood. Dit deed mij denken aan de Red Hat Society. Het is alweer een paar jaar geleden dat ik de vereniging bij een uitstapje tegenkwam en het zag er heel gezellig uit! Ik vond het inspirerend om te zien hoe ze op deze manier het verouderen vieren.

This time the theme colours for When Colours Collide were Purple and Red. It reminded me of the Red Hat Society. It’s been a couple of years since I saw the society on a trip (a coincidence) and I liked the atmosphere! I thought it was really inspiring how they celebrated ageing.

Ik gebruikte een holografische paarse nagellak als basis en ik maakte kleine decals van de hoedjes op een van de kinder stempelplaten van Dashica. Misschien zie je het al meteen: ik heb een andere camera gebruikt. Ik mocht spelen met Man zijn EOS5D met macro lens. Je gaat hier meer van zien!

I used a purple holographic nail polish as base and I made small decals of the hats on one of the Dashica kids stamping plates. Maybe you notice it right away: I used a different camera for this picture. I was allowed to play with Husbands EOS5D. You will see more pictures with this camera in the future!

Happy St. Patrick’s day!

Vorig jaar maakte ik voor het eerst een St. Patrick’s day nail art omdat ik geïnspireerd raakte door al het groen op mijn Pinterest feed. Dit jaar doe ik het gewoon weer, omdat het op mijn vaste blog dag valt!

Last year I made my first St. Patrick’s day nail art, because I was inspired by all the green mani’s in my Pinterest feed. This year I’m doing one, because it’s my regular blogging day!

Ik heb nog steeds geen echte St. Patrick’s stempel. In principe is het symbool voor St. Patrick’s day een driebladige klaver oftewel een shamrock. Ik heb alleen stempels met geluksklavers, en die hebben vier blaadjes. Ik hoop dat er wederom geen probleem van wordt gemaakt. Mijn groen is dit jaar een nieuwe nagellak van Wikkid polish, namelijk Forest.

I still don’t own a true St. Patrick’s stamping pattern. The right symbol for St. Patrick’s is a shamrock (with three leaves) and I only have lucky clovers (with four leaves). But I hope that is forgiven. I used one of my new Wikkid polishes as my green and it’s called Forest.

Ik nam deze foto even snel tussen alle wolken en regen door. Dus sorry voor de wat slordige achtergrond met de randen van de vensterback.

This was a quick pic when the sun came out in between all the clouds and rain. So my apologies for the not-so-tidy backdrop with the sides of the windowsill.

Essence 06 frosted kiss

Essence heeft de nagellaklijn vernieuwd. Eerst heette de nagellak The gel nail polish en nu heet het Shine last and go! gel nail polish. Ook de vorm van de nagellak potjes is veranderd. Ik heb een lakje gekocht om de nieuwe formule uit te proberen. Ik heb gekozen voor Frosted kiss een frost, omdat die altijd moeilijker zijn vanwege de kwastsporen doe je soms kan zien.

Essence has updated their nail polish line. The old line was called The gel nail polish and the new line is Shine last and go! gel nail polish. They have also changed the shape of their nail polish bottles. I bought one polish to try out the revamped formula. I chose Frosted kiss, a frost because they’re always a good judge for their risk of brush strokes.

De nagellak dekte in twee laagjes. Hij ruikt iets anders dan de oude formule, maar dat kan ook door de pigmenten komen. Ik had al gezien in swatch videos dat je deze lak niet te veel moet manipuleren bij het aanbrengen. Gewoon zonder veel druk op de kwast in drie banen de lak op de nagel aanbrengen en laten drogen.

The polish covered in two coats. It smells slightly different from their old formula, but that could also be caused by the pigments. I had already seen in different swatch videos that you can not manipulate this polish that much or it will drag and cause bold spots. Just apply it quickly in three strokes with very little pressure on your brush.

Essence shine last and go 06 frosted kiss

Ik ben erg tevreden in hoeverre de kwastsporen verminderden bij het opdrogen en na een laag top coat was het nog minder. Ik heb een klein accent erop gestempeld. Ik heb de nagellak een paar dagen gedragen en ook de houdbaarheid was ok.

I’m very impressed by how far the brush strokes dries down. With top coat it was even less visible. I stamped a little accent on it and wore the polish for a couple of days. It held up ok.

Dit heb ik gebruikt: essence shine last and go 06 frosted kiss, Dashica beauty shop Infinity Nails 20 en Mundo de Unas stempellak 76 Merry. Merry was mijn eerste stempellak omdat deze kleur zo mooi gebruikt kan worden bij mijn meer neutrale lakken. Alleen… de geur is heel sterk, waardoor ik het dus zelden pak. Jammer.

Materials used: essence shine last and go 06 frosted kiss, Dashica beauty shop Infinity Nails 20 and Mundo de Unas stamping polish 76 Merry. Merry was my very first stamping polish, because the colour goes so well with many of my neutral polishes. But the smell… is really strong and I use it rarely.

Twee mini bloemen clipjes

Doordat ik het op het moment wat drukker heb, lukt het mij niet om regelmatig bloemetjes te maken. Dat is jammer, want ik mis het wel. Ik was nu gevraagd om een paar bloemenclipjes te maken, dus dat was een perfect excuus om weer in mijn stofjes te duiken. Oma had een jurk gemaakt en wilde graag bijpassende haarspeldjes. Aangezien de ontvanger van de jurk nog erg klein (en jong) is, zijn het mini bloemetjes geworden.

I’m rather busy at the moment and have little time to maken my floral hair bows. I miss making them, so I was very happy when grandma asked me to make a pair of matching hair bows for a dress. The recipient of the dress is quit small (and young) so I made tiny flower bows.

Ik kreeg een strook stof om de kleur van de bloemen op af te stemmen. Hier zie je alle verzamelde materialen: dunne satijn, organza, alligator speldjes, kleine bloemen flatbacks en mijn Clover Kanzashi flower maker in pointed petal extra small size.

I recieved a small scrap of fabric to match the hair bows to. Here you see all my materials after I gathered them: thin satin, organza, alligator clips, small flower flatbacks and my Clover Kanzashi flower maker in pointed petal extra small size.

Vier swatches Wikkid polish

Nadat ik vorig jaar mijn eerste Wikkid polishes had gewonnen en ik zelfs met kerst een Wikkid had gedragen, heb ik voor het eerst een eigen bestelling geplaatst. Ik heb zes lakjes gekozen en in deze post laat ik er vier zien. Ik laat twee thermal lakken zien (lakken die qua kleur temperatuur gevoelig zijn) en twee multichrome lakken met holografische glitters.

After winning my first Wikkid polishes last year and even wearing a Wikkid for Christmas, I finally ordered some polishes by myself. I placed an order of six polishes in total and today I will show you four. I will show you the two thermal polishes I ordered (polishes that change colour with the temperature) and two polishes that are multichromes with holo glitters.

Wikkid polish Coconut Ice

Als eerste wil ik Wikkid Coconut Ice laten zien. Dit is een thermal lak die van roze (koud) naar bijna wit (warm) gaat. Toen ik deze lak ging swatchen had ik dus hele koude handen. Niet handig als je een temperatuureffect wil laten zien!

First I want to show Wikkid Coconut Ice. It’s a temperature changing polish that goes from pink (cold state) to almost white (warm state). When swatching this polish I had very cold hands. Not such a good thing if you want to show the different states!

Met behulp van een kom warm water kreeg ik nog net deze foto met wat kleurverschil, want het ging heel snel weer terug naar de koude staat. Ik laat hier twee laagjes zien met top coat.

With a bowl of hot water I was able to take this picture. The colour is already changing back to the cold state. I’m showing two coats with top coat.

Wikkid polish Stepping out with Iris

Stepping out with Iris is een termal die van paars naar lila gaat. Mijn handen zijn inmiddels iets minder koud, dus ik heb een iets betere foto van het kleurverloop kunnen maken. Vooral op mijn ringvinger ziet het er goed uit. Deze was ook dekkend in twee laagjes en ik heb ook top coat aangebracht. Beide thermo’s drogen namelijk mat op.

Stepping out with Iris is a thermal polish going from purple (cold state) to lilac (warm state). My hands are slightly less cold by now, so my picture is showing the changes better. Especially on my ring finger is the change showing. This one was also two coats. I also used top coat because both thermals dry down matte.

Ik had al een Wikkid polish thermal, namelijk Holiday mode van de giveaway prijs. Ik was nieuwsgierig en heb ze alledrie ook samen gelakt.

I already owned one Wikkid polish thermal from the giveaway and that is Holiday mode. I was curious and also swatched them side by side.

Eindelijk heb ik wel warme handen, dus de effecten zijn goed te zien. Van links naar rechts: Wikkid polish Holiday Mode (holo thermal), Coconut Ice (thermal) en Stepping out with Iris (thermal). Ik zie iets zomers en zal er in de toekomst nog wel een nail art mee maken!

It took a while but by now I have warm hands and can show the shift very well. Left to right: Wikkid polish Holiday Mode (holo thermal), Coconut Ice (thermal) and Stepping out with Iris (thermal). I think these look like a summery combination and I’m sure I will make some nail art with them!

Wikkid polish Helene (H)

Een ander type indie lak wat mij heel erg aanspreekt, zijn de multi chromes met holografische glitters. Ik heb er twee gekocht en als eerste laat ik Helene zien. Helene is een multi chrome die de heen en weer gaat tussen de kleuren paars en rood naar brons en warmgeel. Ik denk dat deze nog wat mag wachten tot de herfst.

Another type of indie polish that I really like are the multi chromes with holographic glitter. I bought two and first I will show you Helene. Helene is a multi chrome that changes from purple and red to bronze and warm yellow. I think this is a beautiful colour for autumn.

Wikkid polish Helene (holo) direct sunlight

En hier is Helene in de zon. Kijk eens hoe mooi! Met zoveel verschillende gezichten is het een nagellak die nooit verveeld.

And this is Helene in direct sunlight. Look how beautiful! With so many different faces it’s a polish that will never tire.

Wikkid polish Pallene (H)

Pallene is wat meer transparant, dus nu had ik drie laagjes nodig om het helemaal dekkend te krijgen. Het multi chrome effect gaat vooral van paars naar groen, maar er zit ook wat blauw, rood en goud tussen.

Pallene has a more transparent base, so I needed three coats to get full coverage. The multi chrome effect goes mainly from purple to green, but you’ll also find some blue, red and gold.

Maar in de zon is de glitter zo sterk, dat mijn camera moeite had om het scherp te krijgen. Dus helaas een bijna scherpe foto.

In direct sunlight the holo sparkle is so strong, that my camera just couldn’t focus. So I have a slightly blurry picture for you.

Ik vind het met multi chromes altijd heel leuk om te zien welke kleur je watje krijgt bij het eraf halen. Helene is bruin en Pallene is donkergrijs, bijna zwart.

With multi chromes I’m always curious how they look on my cotton pad after removal. Helene is brown and Pallene is dark grey, almost black.

Chartreuse en Bruin

Het is weer tijd voor een nieuwe When Colours Collide. Deze keer zijn de kleuren Chartreuse en Bruin. Voor wie de kleur Chartreuse nog niet kent: deze kleur zit tussen groen en geel in en is vernoemd naar een Franse likeur.

It’s time for a new When Colours Collide! This time the colour scheme is Chartreuse and Brown. For the people unknown to the colour Chartreuse: it’s between green and yellow and named after a French liquor.

Ik raakte niet echt geïnspireerd door deze kleur combinatie en heb daarom zomaar een – nog ongebruikte – stempelplaat uitgekozen en daar iets leuks mee gemaakt. Ik had alleen last bij mijn ringvinger dat een deel van de afbeelding omklapte en ook op mijn nagel bleef plakken.

I was not really inspired by this colour combination and just picked – a still unused – stamping plate and went on with it. On my ring finger the image collapsed back on the nail, so it got a bit messy there.

Carnaval 2019

Voor het eerst sinds jaren weer carnaval gevierd, maar nu met de kinderen erbij! Mijn broer en zijn gezin wonen in een stad waar carnaval goed gevierd wordt. We hebben naar de kinderoptocht gekeken. Uiteraard waren we allemaal verkleed. De kids hadden de kostuums voor papa en mama uitgekozen en zo waren wij Mario en Prinses Peach.

For the first time in a couple of years we celebrated carnaval, kids included! My brother and his family live in a town where carnaval is really celebrated. We watched the junior parade. Of course we were all dressed up. The kids chose our costumes so Mom and Dad were Princess Peach and Mario.
