Tropische nagels in de winter, editie 2020

Net als vorig jaar, heeft Lizmo van @nailsoflizmo een collab georganiseerd om in de winter een tropische nail art te maken. Dit jaar kreeg ik mijn inspiratie van een van mijn vriendinnen: de Paradijsvogelbloem.

Just like last year, Lizmo of @nailsoflizmo has organised a tropical nail art collab in winter. This year one of my friends gave me the inspiration: Bird of Paradise flowers.

Voor wie deze bloem niet kent, heb ik hier een foto geplaatst. Het is een tropische plant, die ook als kamerplant gehouden kan worden.

If you don’t know the flower, here’s a picture. It’s a tropical plant that is used as houseplant in our climate.

Dit heb ik er van gemaakt! Ik heb deze bloemen op een stempelplaat gevonden. Het was een gepriegel om de bloem en de steel met twee verschillende kleuren stempellak op te pakken. Maar twee keer had ik succes! Deze bloemen kleurde ik in met een donkergele stempellak. Daarna plaatste ik met een hele fijne kwast nog een blauw lijntje bij de bloem op mijn ringvinger om het detail af te maken.

Here’s what I made! I found these flowers on a stamping plate. It took multiple attempts to stamp them two-toned with a coral and green stamping polish. Afterwards I coloured the flowers with a deep yellow stamping polish. And as final detail I painted a small blue line at the flower on my ring finger nail.

Abstract nail art in White, Grey, Black and Red

Hallo iedereen! Mijn hele planning en schema ligt op alle terreinen in de war, want de griep kwam langs in ons gezin! Inmiddels zijn we weer aan de beterende hand en voel ik mij fit genoeg om even mijn blog bij te werken.

Hello everybody! My whole private and professional schedule is a mess, because of the flu. All four of us had high fevers for several days. We’re now recovering and I feel finally well enough to post on the blog again.

Deze keer bij When Colours Collide was het thema de kleuren Wit, Grijs, Zwart en ?. De vierde kleur mocht je zelf kiezen. Ik koos rood en maakte een abstracte semi-Valentijns nail art.

This time with When Colours Collide was the theme White, Gray, Black and ?. The fourth colour was one you could pick. I chose red and made an abstract slightly Valentines inspired nail art.

Ik gebruikte Revlon TopSpeed 335 Spirit (wit) als mijn basis en stempelde er driehoeken over in grijs en zwart. Daarover stempelde ik met rood deze geometrische figuren. Mijn ringvinger kreeg er een met hartjes. Helaas werkte mijn rode stempellak en de stempelplaat niet goed samen, waardoor ik geen duidelijke transfers had. Maar ik had geen tijd om het overnieuw te doen

I used Revlon TopSpeed 335 Spirit (white) as the base colour and I stamped triangles on top in grey and black. On top of that I stamped geometric figures in red. Sadly my red stamping polish and the stamping plate did not play well together, so I didn’t get the crisp transfers I hoped for. I had no time for a do-over, sometimes it’s just less perfect.

Valentine’s Day nail art 2020

Het is een tijd geleden dat ik een post op woensdag had! Maar voor Valentijnsdag heb ik er gewoon tijd voor gemaakt. Dit zijn mijn nagels, helemaal klaar voor Valentijnsdag aanstaande vrijdag.

It’s been a while since I published a post on Wednesday! For Valentine’s Day I made the extra effort. Here are my nails, ready for Friday.

Op mijn nagels (behalve mijn accent nagel) heb ik drie laagjes ILNP Gumdrop. Dit is een heel lief kleurtje met een holo glitter. Op mijn accentnagels heb ik twee laagjes van Essie peak show. Dit is een limited edition Essie van een paar jaar geleden en ik had het al een hele tijd niet meer gedragen. Maar wat is dit een fijne bijna witte nagellak. Erover heen heb ik met rood deze hartjes gestempeld van KADS MIN 027.

On my nails (except for the accent nail) I’m wearing three coats of ILNP Gumdrop. This is a very sweet pink with holo sparkle. My accent nail has two coats of Essie peak show. Essie peak show is a limited edition of some years ago and I had not used it in quite some time. I don’t know why, because it’s a great almost white nail polish. I stamped these harts on top with red from stamping plate KADS MIN 027.

Hier is nog een foto, maar nu in zonlicht. Het lukte mij om wat van de holo glitters vast te leggen.

Valentine winter manicure

Het is bijna Valentijnsdag, dus het is weer de tijd van het jaar om met rood en roze te werken. Tegelijkertijd trekt storm Ciara over het land. Ik ben niet zo dol op stormachtig weer. Ik houd meer van rustig winterweer. Dus pakte ik een plaat met sneeuwvlokken en maakte deze nail art.

It’s almost Valentine’s Day, so it’s the season for red and pink nail art. Today the weather is really awful because of storm Ciara. And I really don’t like stormy weather. I prefer calm winter weather. So I picked a stamping plate with snowflakes.

Als het perfecte winter weer niet buiten is, kan je het altijd nog op je nagels schilderen 😉 Ik gebruikte twee laagjes Essie sweet soufflé als basis en stempelde eroverheen met twee verschillende kleuren roze.

If the perfect winter weather is not happening outside, you can always paint it on your nails 😉 I painted two coats of Essie sweet soufflé as the base and I stamped the snowflakes in two shades of pink.

Purple, orange and white

Deze keer bij When Colours Collide was het thema de kleuren Paars, Oranje en Wit. Mijn inspiratie voor deze kleur was bloemen en dit is het geworden.

This time with When Colours Collide the theme was the colours Purple, Orange and White. I thought florals and this is what I made.

Ik heb het paars als basis gebruikt. Op twee nagels heb ik een ingekleurde stempel geplaatst en op de andere nagels twee stippen met een dotting tool.

I used purple as the base colour. On two nails I placed a floral reverse stamped image. On all other nails I placed two orange dots with a dotting tool.

Neutral skittle mani with Etos nail polish

Ik had zin in een neutrale basis voor de week. Maar ik kon niet kiezen en nu is het een skittle mani geworden.

I was in the mood for a more neutral base for this week. But I couldn’t pick just one colour, so it’s a skittle mani instead.

Duim, wijsvinger en middelvinger kregen de kleur Etos nail polish 53 Whatever. Ringvinger kreeg Etos nail polish 47 Nude en pink Etos nail polish 48 Sahara.

Thumb, pointer and middle finger were painted with Etos nail polish 53 Whatever. Ring finger was painted with Etos nail polish 47 Nude and little finger Etos nail polish 48 Sahara.

Rood, geel en blauw

Deze keer bij When Colours Collide was het thema primaire kleuren met Rood, Geel en Blauw. Ik kreeg er een circus vibe bij en maakte deze nail art.

This time with When Colours Collide the theme was primary colours with Red, Yellow and Blue. It gave me circus vibes and I made this nail art.

Vorig jaar rond deze tijd had ik voor het eerst met nail vinyls op mijn stempel gewerkt. Een nieuwe techniek die ik als goed voornemen wilde leren. Ik vond het dus een goed idee om voor deze maand deze techniek weer een keer te gebruiken.

Last year in January I tried this technique with nail vinyls on a stamper for the first time. It was a new technique that I wanted to learn as a New Years resolution. So I revisited this technique again!

Pantone colour of the year 2020: Classic Blue

Voor het jaar 2020 heeft het Pantone instituut weer haar voelsprieten uitgezet en koos toen Classic Blue. Deze blauwe kleur straalt rust en vertrouwen uit, iets dat de wereld nu goed kan gebruiken bij de start van het nieuwe decennium.

Trend analysis and additional thoughtful consideration let the Pantone Institute to pick Classic Blue for Color of the Year 2020. This shade of blue has reassuring qualities, something the world can use as we cross the threshold into a new era.

Pantone gebruikt dit beeld van twee mensen die elkaar ontmoeten in het blauw van een avondlucht om de kleur te promoten. Ik vind het een heel mooi beeld.

Pantone Color of the Year Classic Blue; Etos nail polish 44 Marrakech

Natuurlijk zou het mijn blog niet zijn, als ik er geen passende nagellak bij gezocht zou hebben. Ik heb mijn eerste match gevonden in Etos Nail polish 44 Marrakech. Ik laat hier twee laagjes zien met top coat. Het eerste laagje was ongelijkmatig, maar een tweede laag resulteerde in deze prachtige dekkende blauwe kleur.

Of course on my blog we are looking for a matching polish. I found my first match in Etos Nail polish 44 Marrakech. I’m showing two coats with top coat. First coat was a bit streaky, but the second coat gave full coverage for this beautiful blue shade.

Ik verwacht in de loop van het jaar vast nog wel een andere nagellak in deze kleur te kopen. Dan zal ik een update maken van deze blog post.

I expect that I will buy another polish in this blue shade during the year. When that happens, I’ll give an update on this blog post.

Paars, Beige en Bruin

De eerste kleurencombinatie van 2020 voor When Colours Collide is Paars, Beige en Bruin. Maar voordat ik deze laat zien, wil ik mijn collage laten zien met al mijn nail arts voor When Colours Collide van 2019!

The first colour combo this year for When Colours Collide is Purple, Beige and Brown. Before I’ll show my nail art, I want to show you the collage for my year with When Colours Collide 2019!

Ik heb maar een keer verstek moeten laten gaan. Het was een kleurrijk jaar! Op naar een nieuw jaar met vast weer veel leuke kleuren combinaties.

I only missed one prompt. It was a colourful year. Now let’s start this year. I’m sure it wil have a lot of fun colour combinations!

When colours collide, nail art with Purple, Beige and Brown

Ik vond dit een hele mooie kleurencombinatie om het jaar mee te starten. Zo rustig en kalmerend. Ik heb gekozen voor bloemen. Het is een layered stamping patroon en zoals je ziet, kan ik er nog wel wat oefening in gebruiken. Mooi ontwikkeldoel voor het nieuwe jaar 😉

I really like this colour combination. It’s very soothing and a perfect combination to start January. I chose flowers. It’s a layered stamping pattern and as you can see I need to practice this technique a little more. Something to learn and develop for this year 😉

Happy New Year!

De beste wensen voor het nieuwe jaar en heel veel gezondheid toegewenst! Natuurlijk heb ik vandaag mijn nagels gedaan. Dit jaar is het subtieler dan vorig jaar geworden 😁.

I want to wish you all a very happy New Years Eve and a healthy 2020! And of course I’ve painted my nails for the event. It turned out a lot more subtle than last years nail art 😁

Als basis koos ik voor Essie Young, Wild and Me. Dit is een roze nagellak met een scheutje nude. Ik heb het ook gebruikt bij de spring/summer Pantone challenge 2019 als Pantone Pressed Rose. Op dit moment doe ik mee aan de Pantone challenge fall / winter van dit seizoen op mijn instagram. Als deze afgelopen is, zal ik er ook op de blog een overzicht van maken!

As base I chose Essie Young, Wild and Me. It’s a pink nail polish with a dose of nude. I used it also for Pantone Pressed Rose in het spring/summer Pantone challenge of 2019. At the moment I’ve joined the fall/winter Pantone challenge on Instagram. When it’s finished, I’ll make an overview for the blog!

Over Essie Young, Wild and Me bracht ik een hele subtiele glitter gradient aan met een sponsje. Op mijn ringvinger stempelde ik nog wat sterretjes. Om het mooi glad en glanzend af te werken deed ik er twee lagen top coat over.

Over my base with Essie Young, Wild and Me I added a subtle glitter gradient with a sponge. On my ring finger nail I stamped some little stars. To finish it off I added two coats of top coat.
