Ik ben dol op kerstmuziek! Ik word er ieder jaar weer blij van als de kerstmuziek op de radio komt. Ik wist dus meteen welk liedje ik wilde gebruiken toen de meiden van de (bi)Monthly Music Collab het volgende thema kozen, namelijk Kerst muziek. Ik koos voor Jingle Bell Rock. Tegelijk had ik dus ook al een hele lijst reserveliedjes, mocht plan A mislukken.
I LOVE Christmas music! Each year when the radio stations start playing their Christmas music, I’m very happy! I knew right away which song I wanted to use when the girls from the (bi)Monthly Music Mani Collab chose the new theme: Christmas music. I chose Jingle Bell Rock. At the same time I kept a whole list as back ups, should my first choice fail.
Jingle Bell Rock is gewoon een heel vrolijk kerstlied. Ik ben zelf iemand die alle uitvoeringen goed vind. Dus hier geen discussie over wie de mooiste versie heeft opgenomen.
I like Jingle Bell Rock, because it’s a very happy Christmas song. I like all renditions of this song, so no discussion from me about who played it best.

Merry Christmas everyone! These are my Christmas nails for 2019!
Net als vorig jaar heb ik bedacht dat het past bij mijn kleding. Dit jaar heb ik zwart aan met rode accenten. Dus ook rode nagels!
Just like last year I took the inspiration for my nail art from my outfit. This year I’m wearing black with red accents. So I chose red for my nails!
Ik had eerst gepland om Catrice Gold Effect 01 Attracting Pomp te gebruiken. Maar deze rood bleek te veel roze ondertonen te hebben, dus zocht ik verder in mijn collectie en werd het deze Essie. Hij heet Ring in the bling en het is een koele rood tint met gouden shimmer. Heel feestelijk! Op mijn ringvinger draag ik Essie Gold gilding. Dit is een bronzige goud met een sterke roze shimmer. Erover heen heb ik een kerstboom gestempeld.
At first I planned to use Catrice Gold Effect 01 Attracting Pomp. But this red had too much pink, so I searched on in the stash. My pick became Essie Ring in the bling. It’s a cool toned red with a golden shimmer. Very festive! On my ring finger nail I’m wearing Essie Gold gilding. This is a rose gold with a strong pink shimmer. On top of it I stamped a Christmas tree.

Ik heb door onze koperen bruiloft deze keer van When Colours Collide niet op tijd op de blog gekregen. Dus nu met wat vertraging! Het thema was Holo en Zwart.
Because of the celebration of our Wedding Anniversary I lacked the time to write a post for this round of When Colours Collide. The theme colours were Holo and black. It’s been some weeks since I made this nail art, so let’s put it here!
Het is helaas het verkeerde seizoen (bewolkt en regenachtig) om het holografische effect van deze nagellakken vast te leggen. Ik moest met lamplicht werken, vanwege het bewolkte en regenachtige weer. Als basis gebruikte ik Essie Of Quartz en ik kleurde de stempels in met Essie You’re A Gem en Wikkid Polish Helene (H).
It’s sadly the wrong season to show holo in pictures (overcast skies and rainy weather). It was overcast and rainy all the time, so I had to work with artificial light. As base I used Essie Of Quarz an I reversed stamped with Essie You’re A Gem and Wicked Polish Helene (H).

Deze keer bij When Colours Collide was het thema Wit, Blauw en Zilver. Ik koos voor een winters design zonder sneeuwvlokken (daar ben ik nog niet aan toe).
This round with When Colours Collide was White, Blue and Silver. I chose to make a wintery design without snowflakes (I’m not ready for those yet).
Als basis gebruikte ik twee laagjes Revlon Spirit en een laagje Essie GC Lace to the Altar. Daarover stempelde ik deze twijgjes in een gradient van zilver naar metallic blauw.
My base colour is two coats of Revlon Spirit and one coat of Essie Gel Couture Lace to the Altar. On top I stamped a gradient going from silver to metallic blue of twigs.

Lieve mensen, ik moest vorig weekeinde even verstek laten gaan, maar dat had een mooie reden! We hebben onze koperen bruiloft gevierd. Dat betekent dat we al 12,5 jaar getrouwd zijn!
Dear readers, I have been absent for a short period. But that was for a very nice reason: we celebrated our copper wedding anniversary! It means that we are married for 12,5 years! This milestone is very much a celebration in The Netherlands. And in our family that means a (small) party…!
Natuurlijk had ik mijn nagels speciaal gelakt voor de gelegenheid. Ik hield het eenvoudig: neutrale basis en een stempel van hartjes in koper. Als neutrale basis gebruikte ik Masura 1255 Jasmine Honey. De hartjes zijn van Dashica stempelplaat SdP-33 en ik gebruikte Catrice ICONails 58 Good Nails Only als stempellak.
Of course did I wear polished nails that fitted the occasion. I chose a neutral base and stamped a heart image in copper. My neutral base is Masura 1255 Jasmine Honey. The heart image is from Dashica stamping plate SdP-33 and I used Catrice ICONails 58 Good Nails Only as stamping polish.
Nadat ik bij het swatchen van deze collectie had gemerkt dat sommige lakken zo goed gepigmenteerd waren, was ik nieuwsgierig of ik er ook mee zou kunnen stempelen.
After swatching this collection and noticing the pigmentation in some of the polishes, I was curious if I could also stamp with these polishes.
En zoals je ziet, ja dat kan! Als basis gebruikte ik Catrice Pure Simplicity LE C02 Naked Petals. Op mijn wijsvinger en middelvinger stempelde ik met Catrice Pure Simplicity LE C01 Rosy Verve en op mijn ringvinger en pink Catrice Pure Simplicity LE C04 Moody Plum. Rosy Verve en Moody Plum pakten goed op en hebben voldoende pigment om een duidelijke stempel te maken. Ik heb niet echt over een design gedacht, maar gewoon heerlijk wat plaatjes uitgeprobeerd van een nieuwe stempelplaat van KADS.
And yes they stamp! As my base colour I chose Catrice Pure Simplicity LE C02 Naked Petals. On my pointer finger and middle finger nails I stamped with Catrice Pure Simplicity LE C01 Rosy Verve and on my other nails I stamped with Catrice Pure Simplicity LE C04 Moody Plum. Both Rosy Verve and Moody Plum picked up great and have more than enough pigment to make a clear stamp. I didn’t really plan out a design, I just played a bit with a new-to-me stamping plate by KADS.

Vorige week zag ik bij mijn Kruidvat deze display. Ik had al wat langs zien komen op insta en ik vind deze nagellak potjes er zo leuk uitzien met hun bamboe doppen, dat ik meteen alle kleurtjes heb gekocht.
Last week in my local Kruidvat (Dutch drugstore chain) I saw this display. I had already seen some pics on insta and loved the look of the nail polish bottles with their bamboo lids. I bought all the nail colours of this limited edition collection right away.
Deze limited edition lijn is helemaal Vegan geformuleerd. Hij bestaat uit lippenstift, blush en nagellak. Zoals je ziet was ik er zo vroeg bij dat de display op 1 blush na nog helemaal compleet was. Laten we dan nu gaan kijken hoe de nagellakken swatchen.
This limited edition is fully vegan formulated. The collection consists of lip sticks, blushers and nail polishes. As you can see I spotted it so early that only one blusher was missing. Let’s see how the nail polishes swatch!
Catrice Pure Simplicity LE C01 Rosy Verve
Allereerst wil vermelden dat ik op het moment geen transparante soak off gel base draag. Ik heb gewoon geen tijd voor het afweken. Hierdoor zie je wat textuur van mijn natuurlijke nagels op de foto’s.
First I want to mention that I stopped wearing a transparent soak off gel base. I really don’t have time for the soak off process at the moment. That’s why you can see some texture from my natural nails in these swatches.
De eerste swatch was meteen een hele goede. Ik had met Rosy Verve in een laagje al volledige dekking. Het droogt iets donkerder op qua kleur. Hier draag ik dus een laagje kleur en een laagje top coat. Voor alle swatches heb ik Catrice’s eigen Super Dry Gloss Top Coat gebruikt.
I was really impressed when I swatched Rosy Verve. It’s the first colour of this collection that I swatched. I had full coverage in just one coat. It dries down a tad darker. So that’s what I’m showing you, one coat of polish and one layer of top coat. For all the swatches I’m using Catrice’s own Super Dry Gloss Top Coat.
Catrice Pure Simplicity LE C02 Naked Petals
Als tweede swatchte ik Naked Petals. Voor deze kleur had ik twee laagjes nodig, wat eigenlijk de standaard is voor nagellak. Deze nagellak heeft een lichte shimmer die je niet meer ziet op de nagel, maar wel kan zien in het potje. Ik draag hier dus twee laagjes en top coat.
My second swatch was with Naked Petals. I needed two coats for this colour, which is completely normal for nail polish. This polish has an almost invisible shimmer on the nails, but it shows better in the bottle. I’m wearing two coats and top coat.
Catrice Pure Simplicity LE C03 Coral Crush
Met Coral Crush gebeurde iets vreemds nadat ik de top coat over twee laagjes aanbracht. Het verkleurde. Hoe langer ik wachtte hoe dieper de verkleuring werd. Mijn top coat is nog behoorlijk nieuw en ook nog helemaal helder. Mijn theorie is dat er een reactie tussen de top coat en de pigmenten van de nagellak de oorzaak van de verkleuring is. Toen ik de nagellak eraf haalde met aceton was deze ook helemaal blauw/paars en niet meer helder koraal. Ik heb dit nog niet eerder meegemaakt, maar als mensen er meer van weten: laat het weten in de reacties! Ik ben nieuwsgierig!
Nu nog kort verder over de nagellak. Ik had twee laagjes nodig voor volledige dekking. Deze nagellak heeft ook deze subtiele shimmer die je beter in het potje ziet dan op de nagel. Ik draag hier twee laagjes en top coat.
When I swatched Coral Crush something weird happened after I applied the top coat. It started to change in colour. And the longer I waited the deeper the colour change became. My Catrice top coat is still rather new and completely clear. My theory is that some reaction took place with the top coat and the pigments of the polish. Because when I took it of with nail polish remover (aceton) it turned completely blueish purple and was no longer a bright coral. I have never experienced this before, so if people now more about this: let me know in the comments! I’m curious as to what has happened!
Now back to the polish. I needed two coats for full coverage. The polish has a subtle shimmer that shows better in the bottle than on the nail. I’m wearing two coats and top coat.
Catrice Pure Simplicity LE C04 Moody Plum
Met Moody Plum zijn we gelukkig weer terug bij de goede start. Wederom volledige dekking in een laagje. Ik laat je dus ook 1 laagje zien met top coat. Deze nagellak droogt ook iets donkerder op.
When swatching Moody Plum we were back with the impressive start. It’s another one coater! So I’m showing you one coat with top coat. This colour dries down a little darker than in the bottle.

De nail art van vandaag is anders dan ik mij had voorgenomen. Dit komt doordat ik nog steeds boos ben op de automobilist die mij geen voorrang gaf en mij sneed. Hierdoor bracht hij niet alleen mij in gevaar, maar ook mijn kinderen die bij mij in de auto zaten! Ik wist ons alledrie veilig thuis te brengen, maar zat nog na te trillen van de schrik toen ik mijn nagels ging doen.
Today’s nail art is different from the one I had planned to make. That’s because I’m still angry at the driver that failed to give me way. He was not only endangering me, but also my kids that were with me in the car! I managed to drive us all home safely, where I’m still recovering from the shock when I started doing my nails.

Let’s start with showing you what I had planned: a swatch of Catrice ICONails 84 My Heart Beats Green Right Now. A dark green nail polish that is very autumnal and really hard to capture on camera.
Daarna ging het dus anders dan voorgenomen. Het is misschien subtiel, maar het hielp mij. Ik stempelde er met goud eikeltjes op. Eikel! Let de volgende keer beter op in het verkeer!
And then things went differently. Some say it’s subtle, but it’s been helpful for me. The Dutch word ‘eikel’ usually means acorn, but it is also sometimes used as ‘jerk’. Jerk! Be more careful next time on the road!

Oktober is de maand van Halloween, maar ook de maand van stoppen met roken (Stoptober) en aandacht voor borstkanker (Pinktober). Ik heb net als vorig jaar Pinktober met Halloween gecombineerd. En daarmee doe ik ook mee aan de oproep van Nails of Lizmo om zoveel mogelijk roze op je insta feed te laten zien.
October is the month of Halloween, but also the month to stop with smoking (Stoptober) and breast cancer awareness (Pinktober). Just like last year I combined Pinktober with Halloween in this nail art. Also Nails of Lizmo dared us nail ladies to do a Pinktober challenge by showing as many pink mani’s in our insta feed as we could.
Ik lakte mijn duim, wijsvinger en pink lichtroze met Essence shine last & go 04 millenial pink. Mijn middelvinger en ringvinger lakte ik een diepere roze kleur met OPI Infinite Shine Aurora Berry-alis. Met Halloween stempelpaat S002 van BornPretty heb ik de maan, de tekst en de vleermuis erop gestempeld.
I painted my thumb nail and my pointer nail and little finger light pink with Essence shine last & go 04 millenial pink. I painted my middle finger nail and ring finger nail a deeper dusty pink with OPI Infinite Shine Aurora Berry-alis. With the square Halloween themed stamping plate S002 from BornPretty I stamped the moon, the words and the bat.
