Soms vraag ik thuis wat ik op mijn nagels zal doen. Vandaag kreeg ik daarop het antwoord van mijn zoon: blauw met bloemetjes! Nu is blauw een van zijn lievelingskleuren en niet heel verrassend als antwoord, maar de bloemetjes waren een onverwachte toevoeging. Dus met de opdracht blauw met bloemetjes ging ik iets maken. Een van de lakken in het Valentijns kado aan mijzelf was Masura She Meets The Sunrises. Ik vind het dragen van thermal nagellakken het leukst in warm (maar niet te heet) weer. Want dan zie ik de meeste kleurwisselingen. Bij heet weer zie ik alleen de warme staat en bij koud weer alleen de koude staat. Maar bij warm weer wisselt het bij mij nog het meest. One of the polishes in the Valentine’s gift to myself was Masura She Meets The Sunrises. I prefer wearing thermal nail polishes with warm (not hot) weather. With warm weather I have the most changes in the colours. Hot weather only gives me the hot state and cold weather the cold state of the polish. Ik draag twee laagjes met topcoat. De nagellak kan in de warme staat (en lichtste kleur) hier en daar nog een derde laagje gebruiken. Maar ik vond het niet storend. De kleuren gaan van een Bordeaux rood naar een neutrale roze. De nagellak heeft een shimmer die mij wat brons naar roze overkomt. …

Ondanks de pandemie, vliegen de Valentijnsreclames mij toch om de oren. Toch fijn hoe de seizoenen niet vergeten worden! Man en ik vieren Valentijn eigenlijk niet (we vieren wel altijd onze trouwdag). Maar dit jaar heb ik mijzelf een vroeg Valentijn cadeau gegeven: nagellak. Despite the pandemic I’m getting Valentine’s Day commercials everywhere. It’s nice that the commercials are still reminding us of the seasons! Husband and I do not really celebrate Valentine’s Day (we do celebrate our wedding anniversary). But this year, I gave myself an early Valentine’s gift: nail polish. Normaal zou ik de afgelopen maanden flink wat drogisterij nagellak gekocht hebben, maar nu ga ik nauwelijks daar naar binnen (we beperken ons tot de supermarkten). De (twee)maandelijkse Music Mani Collab had als thema Monster Songs. Uiteraard omdat het gisteren Halloween was, maar ook omdat het weer leuk was! The (bi)monthly Music Mani Collab had as them Monster Songs. Mostly because of Halloween (that was yesterday). But also because it sounded like a fun theme! Ik bleek niet zo heel veel monsterliedjes te kennen. Dus ik koos voor een klassieker die ondanks de naam, eigenlijk een hele andere betekenis heeft. Ik heb het over Zombie van The Cranberries It turned out I hardly knew any monster songs. So I chose this classic, that despite the name, has a very different meaning. Nu de kinderen weer naar school zijn, is het thuiswerken ook weer volledig opgestart. Ik bof dat mijn werkgever de afgelopen periode heel flexibel is geweest. Deels was het noodzaak, want het duurde even voordat het remote werken goed draaide. Deels is het ook gewoon omdat ze zo enorm meedenken met de privé situatie van medewerkers. De eerste tijd thuiswerken droeg ik alle gekke combinaties nail art en nagellak door elkaar. Maar na een tijdje merkte dat het toch professioneler voelde om mijn vaak gekozen (zie hier, hier en hier) pinkish nude kleurtjes op te hebben. Om toch wat variatie te hebben, heb ik een aantal indie versies gekocht in deze kleurstrekking. The kids are back to school and working from home has also fully started. In het kader van opvoedkundige doelen hebben we een aantal “eetbare” planten in de tuin staan. Dat zijn een paar aardbeienplanten, een aalbessenstruik en een bramenstruik. Vaak zetten we ook nog snoeptomaten planten in potten neer, maar dat is er dit jaar met de lockdown niet van gekomen. Inmiddels is het aardbeien seizoen in onze tuin voorbij. Ik heb mij door de aardbeien laten inspireren voor een nail art. As part of our parenting goals we have some edible garden plants. We have a couple of strawberries, a redcurrant bush and a bramble. Usually we add snack tomato plants in large pots, but we missed out on them this year because of the lockdown. Strawberry season is already over. Koningsdag is Woningsdag

Vandaag hebben we een vreemde Koningsdag gevierd. Namelijk een thuis-Koningsdag, omgedoopt tot Woningsdag. Want in deze tijd gelden natuurlijk nog allemaal maatregelen, waardoor een groot feest niet mogelijk was. We hebben oranje tompoucen gegeten, gezelschapsspelletjes gespeeld, heel veel genoten van de zon in de tuin en een rondje video bellen gedaan. Today we celebrated a different kind of King’s Day. It was a home celebration and the name had been changed to Woningsdag (At Home Day). Because in these times with al kind of COVID-19 measures in place, it’s not possible to celebrate in big masses of people. We ate orange tompoucen (a kind of Napoleons), played some board games, enjoyed the sun in the garden and did a round of video calls. Ik heb mijn nagels even wat gespaard, zodat ik meer lengte had voor de stempel. Sinds vanavond zijn ze weer kort! In een wereld die hard ten strijde is getrokken tegen COVID-19 en waar bijna alle st Patrick’s festiviteiten zijn geannuleerd, wilde ik het niet stil voorbij laten gaan. Ook dit jaar heb ik een groene nail art gemaakt. Het klopt dat het vandaag 1 maart is, maar ik laat nu pas op de blog mijn nail art zien die ik heb gemaakt voor de (bi-)Monthly Music Mani collab: Duets. Eigenlijk waren we met dit thema nog in Valentijnssferen. We hebben allemaal een duet gekozen en ons daardoor laten inspireren voor nail art. Wedding anniversary

Lieve mensen, ik moest vorig weekeinde even verstek laten gaan, maar dat had een mooie reden! We hebben onze koperen bruiloft gevierd. Dat betekent dat we al 12,5 jaar getrouwd zijn! Dear readers, I have been absent for a short period. But that was for a very nice reason: we celebrated our copper wedding anniversary! It means that we are married for 12,5 years! This milestone is very much a celebration in The Netherlands. And in our family that means a (small) party…! Natuurlijk had ik mijn nagels speciaal gelakt voor de gelegenheid. Ik hield het eenvoudig: neutrale basis en een stempel van hartjes in koper. Als neutrale basis gebruikte ik Masura 1255 Jasmine Honey. De hartjes zijn van Dashica stempelplaat SdP-33 en ik gebruikte Catrice ICONails 58 Good Nails Only als stempellak. Of course did I wear polished nails that fitted the occasion.
