De laatste ronde When Colours Collide was met de kleurencombinatie negative space (dus zichtbare nagel) en zwart. Eventueel mocht je met metallic studs het nog verder opleuken. Dit is wat ik ermee heb gemaakt.
Last round When Colours Collide was with the colours negative space (visible nail) and black. If needed you could add some metallic studs. This is what I created.

Op mijn nagels iets egaler van kleur te krijgen, bracht ik eerst een laagje Catrice More than Nude 06 Roses Are Rosy aan. Daarover stempelde ik met zwart een kanten patroon. Tot slot plaatste ik er nog metalen studs bij met behulp van een beetje top coat. Daarna werkte ik het af met een laag top coat over de hele nagel.
I started with a layer Catrice More than Nude 06 Roses Are Rosy to get my nails look more even in colour. Than I stamped a lacy pattern in black and added some golden studs. To finish it off I used a thick layer of top coat.

In het kader van opvoedkundige doelen hebben we een aantal “eetbare” planten in de tuin staan. Dat zijn een paar aardbeienplanten, een aalbessenstruik en een bramenstruik. Vaak zetten we ook nog snoeptomaten planten in potten neer, maar dat is er dit jaar met de lockdown niet van gekomen. Inmiddels is het aardbeien seizoen in onze tuin voorbij. Ik heb mij door de aardbeien laten inspireren voor een nail art.
As part of our parenting goals we have some edible garden plants. We have a couple of strawberries, a redcurrant bush and a bramble. Usually we add snack tomato plants in large pots, but we missed out on them this year because of the lockdown. Strawberry season is already over. But they are still the inspiration for my nail art today.

Dit is de nail art geworden. Ik heb onder de stempels DA Nails 097 Magical gebruikt en op de andere nagels Masura Mint Breeze. Ik heb deze stempel gehaald van Maniology stempelplaat BM-XL217. Ik heb er een ingekleurde reverse stempel mee gemaakt. De tweede stempel op mijn ringvinger is het best gelukt.
This is how the nail art turned out. Under the stamped nails I used DA Nails 097 Magical and on the other nails I used Masura Mint Breeze. I found the stamping image on Maniology stamping plate BM-XL217. I made a coloured reverse stamping decal. The second decal on my ring finger is the best version.

Hoe gaat het met jullie? Een deel van de wereld is inmiddels gedeeltelijk of volledig uit de lockdowns en kent nog maar een laag aantal nieuwe COVID-19 besmettingen. Op andere plekken op de wereld gaat het virus nog genadeloos rond. Hier in Nederland gaat gefaseerd de zomervakantie starten. De eerste ronde kwam vrijdag uit school om vakantie te houden! Het is nog niet terug naar normaal, maar inmiddels kunnen veel “normale” dingen met de voorschriften van het RIVM wel weer plaats vinden. Wij moeten nog even wachten tot de zomervakantie gaat starten, want we zijn dit jaar de late groep. Ik kijk er erg naar uit. Ook al betekent het dat we weer de hele tijd met zijn allen thuis zijn 😉
How is everyone doing? Some parts of planet Earth are partly or mostly done with the lockdowns imposed because of COVID-19. On other parts the virus is still rampant. Here in the Netherlands the summer breaks are coming. The first regions of the Netherlands that has started the summer break, had their kids home last Friday. Things are not yet completely normal in the Netherlands, but with government guidelines many normal things can take place again. Our region is late with the summer break. I’m really looking forward to it, even though it means that we will all be home again 😉

Ik lakte mijn nagels goud met Revlon TopSpeed 24K. Op alle nagels stempelde ik pastelroze stippen, behalve mijn ringvingernagel. Die kreeg als accent een andere stempel in mintgroen.
I painted my nails golden with Revlon TopSpeed 24L. All nails were stamped wilt pastel pink dots, except for my ring finger. That one was stamped with a different pattern in mint.

Ik lakte mijn nagels geel met Essie Hay There, behalve mijn ringvingernagel. Die kreeg als accent een paarse basis met Catrice ICONails 69 If Not Purple…Then What?. Ik stempelde hetzelfde bloemenpatroon in de contrasterende kleur op alle nagels.
I painted my nails yellow with Essie Hay There, accept for my accent nail. That one was painted purple with Catrice ICONails 69 If Not Purple…Then What?. I stamped the same flower image on all nails in the contrasting colour.

Dit jaar is de uitnodiging om eens muziek van een ander land, in een andere taal of uit een ander cultuur te beluisteren. Want door de COVID-19 pandemie is optreden of samenkomen in veel landen niet mogelijk.
Happy Father’s Day and also happy World Music Day! It’s the day in the calendar that celebrates music en invites anyone to make music or listen to performances of music. This year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the invite is to listen to music online from another country, in another language or from another culture.
De maandelijkste Music Mani Collab wilde graag aandacht geven aan deze dag en we hebben er een internationaal thema van gemaakt. We gaven onszelf de uitdaging om een lied van een ander land of in een andere taal of zomaar van ergens op de wereld dat ons aansprak te gebruiken als inspiratie voor nail art.
The Monthly Music Mani Collab wanted to commemorate this holiday. We decided to give ourselves an international theme. We wanted to take inspiration to create nail art from songs that came from a different country, sung in a different language or just randomly spoke to us wherever they came from in the world.
Ik wist meteen al dat ik een andere taal dan Engels wilde gebruiken en dacht eerst aan Clouseau (België). Nederlands gezongen, maar dan uit België 😊 Al zoekend op YouTube kreeg ik Kate Ryan (België) in de lijst. Een van de liedjes die langs kwam was Ella elle l’a, fijn liedje dat herinneringen terug bracht! Maar toch zocht ik nog verder en keek naar liederen van Stromae (België) en Alizée (Frankrijk). Ook Juanes (Colombia) kwam nog langs. Maar uiteindelijk koos ik voor de originele uitvoering van Ella elle l’a van France Gall. Naast dat het een mooi lied is, is het ook een ode aan Ella Fitzgerald, de legendarische jazz zangeres en een aanklacht tegen racisme. Zo kan een lied uit 1987 nog steeds actueel blijken.
Searching for a song I knew right from the start that I wanted to use another language than English. In the Netherlands we listen music from many countries, such as Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Great Britain, USA and so on. I started my search on YouTube with songs from Clouseau (Belgium). And I was recommended (in the up next part) Kate Ryan (Belgium). I know her best from the song Ella elle l’a, a song with some nice memories. But I still wasn’t sure and continued the search. I listened to songs from Stromae (Belgium) and Alizée (France). Also Juanes (Colombia) showed up. In the end I chose the original version of Ella elle l’a by France Gall (France). It’s a really beautiful song and an ode to Ella Fitzgerald, the legendary jazz singer. It’s also a protest against racism. So this song from 1987 is still current.
De videoclip van Ella elle l’a is in zwart wit met zo op zijn tijd gekleurde tekst. Ik koos ervoor om mijn nagels om en om te lakken met OPI 4 in the morning (bijna zwarte nagellak met een satijn-matte finish) en DA nagellak in de kleur 10 shades of grey. Ik stempelde er muzieknoten en een mond op (zangeres) en zette er met een rode acrylstift ELLA op. Ik werkte het af met een matte topcoat.
The music video of Ella elle l’a is in black and white with at times coloured tekst. I chose to paint my nail alternating with OPI 4 in the morning (almost pearly black with a satin matte finish) and DA Nails in the colour 10 shades of grey. I stamped music notes and lips (singer) and with a red acrylic paint marker I made the letters ELLA. I topped it of with a matte top coat.

Afgelopen week was het de verjaardag van een van de dames van de organisatie van When Colours Collide, namelijk Leonie. En ik deed mee met de verjaardag collab.
Last week for the birthday of one of the organizers of When Colours Collide I contributed to the birthday collab of Leonie’s Nailart.
Het idee was om allemaal een nail art te maken in met een felgekleurd patroon. Ik koos ervoor om Essie urban jungle als neutrale basis te gebruiken en erover te stempelen met diverse stempellakken van Maniology. Op mijn accentnagel probeerde ik een gradient te stempelen, maar daar moet ik nog wat meer op oefenen 😅

Afgelopen week gingen de kinderen voor het eerst sinds een paar maanden weer alle dagen naar school. Het wakker worden ’s ochtends ging moeizaam, maar verder voelden de dagen weer een beetje normaal. Het is nog een maand school voordat de zomervakantie begint. Maar dan mogen ze thuis rondhangen zonder huiswerk.
Last week was the first week for the kids to attend school full time. Waking up in the mornings is still tough, but the days felt mostly normal again! It’s about a month of school before the summer break. Then lazy mornings are allowed again. And they’ll be at home without school work!

Ik koos ervoor om blauw als de basis te gebruiken. Daarover stempelde ik zwarte bloemen die ik met een dotting tool oranje harten gaf, of een ik stempelde een ingekleurde bloemenstempel.
I chose blue as the base colour. I stamped black flowers on top that I gave orange centres with a dotting tool. For the other nails I created a stamping decal.

Morgen gaan de kinderen weer voor de hele week naar school. Dat gaat wennen worden, omdat we niet meer zo vroeg zijn in de ochtenden. Iedereen heeft er wel zin in en uiteindelijk is dat wat telt.
Tomorrow the elementary schools start their regular schedule in the Netherlands. That means that our children will start school full time for the first time since the COVID-19 measures started. We’ve kind of become accustomed to lazy mornings, so it’s going to take some time to get used to. But most importantly we’re all looking forward to this return to normality!
Fijn Pinksterweekeinde! Weer een lang weekeinde in deze tijd van COVID maatregelen. Maar tegelijkertijd een weekeinde waarin we een overgang gaan maken naar minder strenge maatregelen en meer mogelijkheden. Want maandag (Tweede Pinksterdag) is het 1 juni en mag de horeca weer open en daarna gaan de middelbare scholen weer starten.
Happy Pentecost! Another holiday weekend in this time of COVID measures. But at the same time it’s a weekend that marks the start of less strict rules. Restaurants can open on Monday June 1st (“second” day of Pentecost in the Netherlands) and secondary schools will start the day after.
Ik wilde al heel graag Essie Sunny Daze gebruiken in een nail art. En voor Pinksteren heb ik er deze zonnige bloemen nail art mee gemaakt. Ik heb op drie vingers (duim, wijsvinger en pink) twee laagjes van Sunny Daze aangebracht. Op middelvinger en ringvinger heb ik eerst twee laagjes Essence 53 Honey Honey aangebracht. Daarover een laagje glitter van OPI I Don’t Speak Meek en een ingekleurde bloemenstempel met opnieuw Essie Sunny Daze.
I have wanted to use Essie Sunny Daze for some time for a nail art. And for Pentecost I made this sunny floral nail art. I painted three fingers (thumb, pointer and little finger nail) with two coats Sunny Daze. On my middle finger and ring finger I painted two coats of Essence 53 Honey Honey. On top I added some glitter with OPI I Don’t Speak Meek and a stamping decal with flowers coloured with Essie Sunny Daze.

Het is prachtig zonnig weer dit weekeinde en op veel plaatsen is het mogelijk gemaakt om op veilige afstand te recreëren. Wij zijn ook al twee dagen vooral buiten in de tuin te vinden. Morgen is het nog zo’n zonnige dag, voordat het thuis werken weer door gaat. Genieten dus!
It’s beautiful sunny weather this weekend and on many places resolutions have been created to make it possible to go to popular places and keep a safe distance. We’ve been mostly in our garden the past two days. Tomorrow is expected to be another sunny day, before the working from home continues. So I’ll enjoy it!

Ik lakte drie nagels neonroze en twee nagels lichtgrijs. Op vier nagels stempelde ik driehoeken. Op de accentnagel maakte ik een stamping decal van een neonroze bloem.
I painted three nails neon pink and two nails light grey. On four nails I stamped a triangular pattern. On the accent nail I made a stamping decal of a neon pink flower.

Inmiddels gaan we in Nederland weer langzaam uit lock down. Nu hebben we gelukkig geen volledige lock down nodig gehad en zijn de meeste winkels bijvoorbeeld gewoon open gebleven. De basisscholen zijn deels weer open en over twee weken gaan ze weer helemaal open. In juni gaat veel horeca ook weer open! Het grootste gemis is dat de sportscholen nog niet open mogen. Buiten sporten mag inmiddels wel en gelukkig is er veel creativiteit bij sportscholen om buiten sport mogelijk te maken.
The Netherlands is slowly coming out of lock down, however in truth we never had a true full lock down. Most stores for example have stayed open throughout the past months. Elementary schools have started part-time and will start full-time in two weeks. Om June the restaurants will open! The biggest thing missing is indoor gyms. Exercise outdoors is allowed and with creativity a lot of gyms make outdoor workouts possible.

Nu ik niet zomaar een drogist inloop om wat te snuffelen tussen de cosmetica, duurde het even voordat ik deze nieuwe nagellakken kreeg. De More Than Nude nagellakken van Catrice zijn uitgebreid met nieuwe kleurtjes. Ik heb er drie gekocht. Hier vind je mijn swatches van mijn vorige selectie uit deze lijn.
Right now is not the time to walk into a drugstore for some fun shopping and browsing through the cosmetics isle. So it took a while before I had these new polishes. Catrice has added some new polishes to their More Than Nude nail polish line. I bought three of them. Here you can find my swatches of my previous selection from this nail polish line.
Catrice More Than Nude nail polish 06 Roses Are Rosy
Hier zie je twee laagjes van de kleur Roses Are Rosy. Ik ben erg blij met hoe gemakkelijk deze kleur lakte. De enige oneffenheid die je ziet, zit op mijn middelvinger en is een kleine beschadiging op mijn nagel. Misschien met drie laagjes was dat minder zichtbaar, maar ik vind het resultaat met twee laagjes al heel mooi.
Here I’m showing two coats of Roses Are Rosy. I’m very happy with how easy it was to paint with this polish. The only unevenness you can notice, is on my middle finger nail. But that is caused by a small damage. Maybe in three layers it would have shown less, but I really liked the result of two layers.
Catrice More Than Nude nail polish 07 Nudie Beautie
Opnieuw laat ik twee laagjes zien, nu van Nudie Beautie. Ook deze lakte geweldig.
Again I’m showing two coats. This one also applied like a dream.
Catrice More Than Nude nail polish 08 Shine Pink Like A …
Hier hebben we twee laagjes van Shine Pink Like A … (rare naam als je het mij vraagt). Deze lak liet het meest de schade aan mijn nagels zien. Daarom raad ik van deze lak aan om toch eerder voor drie laagjes te gaan.
Here I’m showing two coats of Shine Pink Like A … (strange name). This polish showed the extend of the damage on my nails best. So I would advise you to use this polish in three coats.
Over het geheel ben ik heel blij met deze drie nagellakken. De eerste twee lakken maakte het meeste indruk op mij. Vooral omdat je dit resultaat eerder van een Essie lakje verwacht dan van Catrice. Dus als je gewend bent dit soort subtiele kleurtjes te kopen van duurdere merken, ik zou zeggen probeer deze van Catrice eens uit!
Overall I’m really happy with these three colours. The first two nail polishes impressed me the most. They painted on like polishes made by Essie. So if you’re used to buying this type of polish from more expensive brands, I would say try these by Catrice!
