Deze ronde van When Colours Collide was de uitdaging om een nail art te maken met de kleuren Roze, Rood en Zwart. Ik heb zin in kerst, dus ik maakte deed daar iets mee.
This round of When Colours Collide had the challenge of creating nail art in the colours Pink, Red and Black. I’m looking forward to Christmas and I was feeling festive, so this is what I made.

Om en om lakte ik een nagel in rood en roze. Over mijn middelvinger en ringvinger stempelde ik kerstballen in zwart.
Alternating I painted my nails red and pink. On my middle finger nail and ring finger nail I stamped Christmas ornaments with black stamping polish.

Ook wordt het een “corona” kerst, ik heb er toch weer zin in. De boom staat op, de kerstmuziek klinkt weer. We gaan er toch iets leuks van maken.
Despite that it’s going to be a “COVID” Christmas, I’m still looking forward to the festivities. The Christmas tree is already decorated in the living room and I’m playing all the Christmas CD’s. We have every intention to make it a nice celebration.

Pink Makes The Heart Grow Fonder was bij mij al bijna in één laagje dekkend. Ik laat hier twee lagen zien met top coat. Het is een mooie, wat vergrijsde, roze tint.

Catrice She Needs A HEROse
Dit is een wat donkere, wat bruinere, roze tint. Ik laat hier twee laagjes zien met top coat, maar het eerste laagje was al dekkend. Op de nagel droogt het iets donkerder op dan in het potje.
This is a slightly darker and more brownish pink. I’m showing two coats with top coat, but the first coat was already full coverage. It dries down slightly darker than in the bottle.

Nude not Prude is geen unieke kleur in nagellakland, maar wat heeft Catrice hier een fijne lak gemixt. Ik had het al dekkend in één laagje. Toch laat ik hier twee laagjes met top coat zien, omdat ik het zo ook zou dragen als volledige manicure. Ook deze kleur droogt iets donkerder op dan in het flesje.
Nude not Prude is not a unique colour in nail polish land. But what an great formulation has this one. I had full coverage in one coat. As usual I’m showing two coats with top coat. Because that’s how I would wear it as a full manicure. This one also dries down a little darker than in the bottle.

Als laatste is hier Sand In Sight! Dit is een warme beige nagellak die neigt naar een lichte perzikkleur. Ik laat hier twee laagjes zien met top coat.

Afgelopen zondag was er geen post, omdat ik deze twee nail arts wilde combineren in een post. Het gaat om de laatste van de When Colours Collide en om een verjaardag collab. Beide nail arts zijn met herfstblaadjes.
Last Sunday I didn’t post, because I wanted to combine these two nail arts in one post. We’re talking about the last round of When Colours Collide and a birthday collab (due today!). Both nail arts are with stamped fall leaves.
Monochrome fall leaves nail art
De laatste challenge van When Colours Collide was met de kleuren Zwart, Wit en Grijs. Ik koos voor herfstblaadjes en dit heb ik gemaakt.
The most recent challenge of When Colours Collide was the colours Black, White and Grey. I chose for a design with fall leaves, this is what I made.

Deze keer heb ik geen foto van de spullen die ik heb gebruikt. Maar ik heb wel een beschrijving voor je. Als basis gebruikte ik Revlon TopSpeed Black Magic (zwart) en essence the gel polish 33 wild white ways (wit). Daarover stempelde ik met KADS Nature 019 met witte, grijze en zwarte stempellak dezelfde afbeelding op alle nagels. Ik werkte het af met matte top coat van OPI.
This time I didn’t take pictures of everything used, but I can give you a description. As base I used Revlon TopSpeed Black Magic (black) and essence the gel polish 33 wild white ways (white). I stamped all nails with the same image from KADS Nature 019 with white, grey and black stamping polish. I finished it off with a matte top coat by OPI.

Voor de verjaardag van Cat @nailastrophic was het thema regenboog bomen. Helaas heb ik op het moment korte nagels, dus maakte ik er regenboog blaadjes van.
For the birthday collab for Cat @nailastrophic was the theme rainbow trees. I’m still sporting shorties at the moment, so I chose to make rainbow leaves.

Hier gebruikte ik als basis Catrice More than Nude 07 Nudie Beautie. Erover stempelde ik steeds dezelfde afbeelding van KADS stempelplaat Nature 019. Dezelfde stempelplaat als voor de zwart-grijs-witte nail art, alleen gebruikte ik een andere afbeelding. Ik deed steeds twee kleuren per nagel om de regenboog te creëren. Ik gebruikte Hit the bottle Lemon Meringue Fizz (lichtgeel), Twinkled T Saucey (oranje-geel), Twinkled T Swerve (rood), Hit the bottle Cactus Juice (groen), Hit the bottle Sparklink Cyan-ide (blauw) en CJS stamping polish 016 (paars). I finished it off with a top coat.
Here I chose Catrice More than Nude 07 Nudie Beautie as my base. On each nail I stamped the same image from KADS stamping plate Nature 019. That’s the same stamping plate used above, only a different image. I used two colours on each nail. I used Hit the bottle Lemon Meringue Fizz (pastel yellow), Twinkled T Saucey (orangey yellow), Twinkled T Swerve (red), Hit the bottle Cactus Juice (green), Hit the bottle Sparklink Cyan-ide (blue) en CJS stamping polish 016 (purple). And I finished it with a top coat.
Het is herfst en ons hele jonge kleine Japanse notenboompje verkleurd dan prachtig. Ik heb er speciaal een stempelplaat voor gekocht en laat jullie zien hoe het geworden is.
Fall is steady going on and our young and small Ginkgo biloba tree (rather a bush) has beautiful colours. I ordered a stamping plate just so I could make it into a manicure.

Je ziet hoe de bladeren geel worden, terwijl de nerven eerst nog een tijdje groen blijven.
You can see on this picture how the leaves turn yellow, but the veins stay green a little longer.

Het is een stempelplaat waarbij je het plaatje creëert door meerdere lagen over elkaar te plaatsen (layered stamping). Ik vind dat geen gemakkelijke techniek, maar ben toch erg blij hoe het is uitgepakt.
The stamping plate I ordered has images for layered stamping. It’s not an easy technique and I’m happy how things turned out.
Als basis gebruikte is I’m cool with it van essence uit een limited edition serie. Zoals je op de foto ziet lijkt het een duochrome of misschien wel een multichrome. Maar op mijn nagels krijg ik het nauwelijks te zien. Wel vond ik het gematteerd er heel mooi uitzien.
As base I used I’m cool with it from essence, it’s from a limited edition range. As shown on the picture it seems like a duochrome or even a multichrome in the bottle. But on the nails it hardly shows. But I liked it a lot when mattified.

Deze keer bij When Colours Collide was de uitdaging om een nail art te maken met kleuren Blauw, Groen, Geel en Oranje. Ik vond dat geen gemakkelijke kleurencombinatie.
This round of When Colours Collide was with the colours Blue, Green, Yellow and Orange. For me this color combination turned out to be a difficult one.
Mandala nail art
Ik had nog een ongebruikte stempelplaat van BornPretty waarmee je mandala patronen in verschillende lagen kon maken. Ik besloot er wat mee te spelen zonder echt een plan. In eerste instantie had ik voor geel en oranje normale nagellak gekozen en voor groen en blauw stempellakken. Maar op het laatst besloot ik er in geel toch nog een extra rand aan toe te voegen, deze gele stempellak staat daardoor niet op de foto.
I had an unused BornPretty stamping plate with mandala patterns where you could layer the images. I decided to play around it, without a real design idea. At first I chose regular polishes for yellow and orange and stamping polishes for green and blue. When finishing the mani I decided at the last moment to add a yellow stamped layer on the orange nail. This yellow stamping polished missed my materials picture.

De (twee)maandelijkse Music Mani Collab had als thema Monster Songs. Uiteraard omdat het gisteren Halloween was, maar ook omdat het weer leuk was!
The (bi)monthly Music Mani Collab had as them Monster Songs. Mostly because of Halloween (that was yesterday). But also because it sounded like a fun theme!
Ik bleek niet zo heel veel monsterliedjes te kennen. Dus ik koos voor een klassieker die ondanks de naam, eigenlijk een hele andere betekenis heeft. Ik heb het over Zombie van The Cranberries
It turned out I hardly knew any monster songs. So I chose this classic, that despite the name, has a very different meaning. I’m talking about Zombie by The Cranberries.

Deze keer bij When Colours Collide was het thema de kleuren Zwart, Oranje en Goud. Mijn eerste gedachte bij deze kleuren was tijger, mijn tweede was Halloween. Dit is wat ik er maar van maakte 😄

Als basis gebruikte Catrice ICONails 83 Orange Is The New Black. Daarover stempelde ik tijgerstrepen, behalve op mijn accentnagel. Die kreeg een gouden jack-o’-lantern.

Mijn jaarlijkse roze nail art voor Halloween is er weer. Net als voorgaande jaren heb ik pinktober gecombineerd met spooky season.

Als basis koos ik roze nagellak van essence. Op mijn accentnagel heb ik een maan gestempeld met een vliegende heks. Dit alles geïnspireerd door een interessante YouTube video van Abby Cox. Stiekem ben ik al jaren fan van een aantal Costubers, maar Abby is een recente toevoeging aan mijn lijstje. Ik ga kijken of ik de video hieronder kan linken.
As base I used a pink nail polish by essence. On my accent nail I stamped a moon with a flying witch. It’s inspired by an interesting YouTube video by Abby Cox. I’m a secret fan of a couple of Costubers for many years and Abby is a recent addition to my list. I’ll try to link the video below.
Ik vond het zo interessant dat ze de link legde tussen economisch zelfstandige vrouwen en de risico’s voor beschuldiging van hekserij. Emancipatie is een strijd die onze voormoeders dus ook al tegenkwamen!
It’s so interesting how she links economic independence to the risks of being accused of witchcraft. Even generations before us women were having their battles for equal rights.
Maar weer terug naar de mani van vandaag. Ik hoop dat het roze van de strijd tegen borstkanker en de heks als symbool van vrouwelijke zelfstandigheid iemand die nu midden in de strijd zit wat kracht mag geven (ja, deze is voor jou!).
But let’s go back to today’s mani. I hope that the pink that stands for the battle against breast cancer and the witch that symbols female empowerment gives someone who is going through her battle right now the strength to carry on (yes, this one is for you!).

Mijn vroegste herinnering aan een huisdier is van het hondje van mijn oma. Het was een terrier mix en had een lichtbruine vacht. Deze cartoon hond op een stempelplaat leek er het meest op.
My earliest pet memory is of my grandmother’s little dog. It was a mixed breed terrier and it had light brown fur. This cartoon dog on a stamping plate resembled it in a way.

Het is al een tijdje geleden dat ik over de pandemie heb geschreven. Dat komt omdat al het nieuws over de oplopende cijfers mij zorgelijk stemde. Maar afgelopen week is het er gekomen: in Nederland is nu een “dringend advies” om mondmaskers te dragen in openbare ruimtes. Naast wegwerpmaskers hebben we ook een aantal leuke wasbare maskers aangeschaft. Als het dan toch moet, mag het er toch ook best gezellig uitzien.
It’s been a while since I mentioned the pandemic on the blog. That’s because the growing numbers and restarted press conferences of the prime minister were sounding really serious and I was worried. Last week a big decision was made for the Netherlands. The use of face masks is “strongly recommended” for public indoor spaces. We already had some single use masks, but we also bought some cute cloth masks. If mask wearing is strongly recommended, it may just as well look nice.
