Ondanks de pandemie, vliegen de Valentijnsreclames mij toch om de oren. Toch fijn hoe de seizoenen niet vergeten worden! Man en ik vieren Valentijn eigenlijk niet (we vieren wel altijd onze trouwdag). Maar dit jaar heb ik mijzelf een vroeg Valentijn cadeau gegeven: nagellak. Husband and I do not really celebrate Valentine’s Day (we do celebrate our wedding anniversary). But this year, I gave myself an early Valentine’s gift: nail polish. Deze ronde van When Colours Collide heeft de themakleuren Blauw en Wit. This round of When Colours Collide had the theme colours Blue and White. Ik heb ervoor gekozen de abstracte kant op te gaan. De blauwe stempellak en nagellak zijn hetzelfde als twee weken geleden. I chose to make an abstract nail art with the blue stamping polish and nail polish of two weeks earlier. Dit heb ik gebruikt: essence 33 wild white ways, Etos Nail polish Marrakech, KADS stamping polish 030 en Dashica Infinity Nails stempelplaat 157. Vandaag lekte uit dat de verwachting is dat de basisscholen per 8 februari weer open gaan. Deze ronde is bij ons eigenlijk best gezellig verlopen. Twee creatieve nail art dames organiseerden op instagram een collab met als thema “Are you a fan of volcanoes and lava?” Nu heb ik een kleine jongen hier in huis die dinosaurussen, vulkanen en speciale gesteenten helemaal geweldig vindt. Dus ik wist dat ik hieraan mee wilde doen! Two very creative nail art ladies organised a collab on instagram with the theme: “Are you a fan of volcanoes and lava?” Well, I’m the lucky mom to a boy that loves dinosaurs, volcanoes and mineral stones. So I knew I had to participate! Ik heb smalle nagels en vanwege de pandemie houd ik ze korter, dus ik heb maar kleine canvassen om mee te werken. Ik heb speciaal voor deze collab een paar nieuwe platen bij KADS besteld en ze waren er al snel! Want ik zag op deze plaat een afbeelding die ik als vulkaan zou kunnen gebruiken. Vandaag is ook het nieuwe jaar van When Colours Collide gestart. De eerste ronde had de opdracht Kleurrijk. Als deelnemer mocht je zelf de kleuren kiezen. Maar eerst laat ik de collage zien van het afgelopen jaar. Today starts When Colours Collide with a new year of challenges. The first round is Colourful. As participant you could choose your own set of colours. First I’ll show you the collage of all my mani’s of last year. Voor deze opdracht ben ik voor blauw en oranje gegaan. Ik heb gekozen voor deze kleuren om de betekenis en omdat ik ze mooi vind. Blauw staat vaak voor betrouwbaarheid en oranje voor blijdschap. Een mooie wens voor 2021. Volgens mij had ik het al eerder verteld op de blog. Voor werk draag ik veelal neutrale en rozige nagellakken. Maar door het thuiswerken, kon ik de vrijheid nemen om van alles door elkaar te dragen. Maar dat voelde toch minder professioneel en uiteindelijk ging ik toch weer meer neutrale kleuren dragen, maar dan met iets extra’s. Zoals de swatches hier. Uit de categorie wat neutraler, maar met wat extra’s komen de volgende indie nagellakken van ILNP. I think I wrote about this before on the blog. For work I usually wear pinky neutral nail polishes. But since the pandemic and working from home as standard, I took at first the liberty to wear all colours and whatever I liked. Somehow that made me feel less professional, so in the end I went back to more neutral nail polish shades with something extra. Like I swatched here. Gelukkig Nieuwjaar! Laten we hopen op een beter 2021! Happy New Year! Let’s hope for a better 2021! Onder de kerstboom kreeg ik nieuwe nagellakken van Wikkid polish. Van links naar rechts staan hier Philosopher’s Stone (magnetic), Ophelia (multichrome), Tangerine (lineair holo), Amnesia Rose (lineair holo), Gold Dust (gold holo glitter topper), Snow White (H). Natuurlijk wilde ik zo snel mogelijk er eentje gebruiken. With Christmas I received new nail polishes of Wikkid polish (gift from husband). Twee artikelen in The Guardian zette mij aan het denken. Het is dit artikel waarin het gaat over verlies ten tijde van Kerst en dit artikel over Kerst en rouw. De beide schrijvers geven op een waardige manier aan dat dit jaar, meer nog dan in andere jaren, verlies en rouw een onderdeel zijn van de feestdagen voor veel mensen. Deze Kerstdagen zijn niet voor iedereen een fijne tijd geweest. Two articles from The Guardian had me thinking. It’s this article about loss in times of Christmas and this article about grief and Christmas. Both articles are very well written to say that this year, more than any other year, the holidays were filled with loss and grief for many people. Not everyone was celebrating a merry Christmas. Dus maakte ik deze nail art. Paarse nagels met een kaarsje. Paars wordt in Nederland met rouw geassocieerd. Mijn eerste kerst nail art in “deze tijd” is een traditioneel ontwerp. Nu al mijn traditionele kerstactiviteiten in de nieuwe Nederlandse lockdown niet mogelijk zijn (terecht!), had ik behoefte aan iets wat er wel “gewoon” uitzag passend bij het seizoen. My first Christmas nail art in “these times” is a traditional one. All my normal activities for this time of the year are cancelled due to the new lockdown of the Netherlands (and it’s necessary!). But that did not takeaway my need to have something that looked like normal on my nails. Als basis gebruikte ik van de Catrice Gold Effect Nail Polish lijn nummer 02 Fascinating Grace. Ik heb deze nagellak geswatched toen ik haar net nieuw had, maar helaas is ze verkleurd. Ook deze vale goudtint vind ik mooi en is nog steeds heel reflecterend. Op mijn ringvinger stempelde ik in groen een kerstafbeelding van een strik met hulsttakken, waarna ik later met een dotting tool de rode besjes toevoegde. Vandaag heb ik voor jullie een nagellak swatch van kleurtje 100 van Catrice. Het heet Party Animal en is een prachtige rozige metallic. Today I’m showing you a nail polish swatch of colour 100 by Catrice. It’s called Party Animal and a really beautiful pink metallic. Ik dacht eerst dat het vergelijkbaar zou zijn met Catrice Gold Effect 02 Fascinating Grace of Catrice Travel ICONails C04 Summer In Berlin. Maar gelukkig is het toch voldoende anders. Fascinating Grace heeft metallic flakes en daarmee een ander effect. Summer In Berlin is net iets donkerder. Het is een goed dekkende formule. Ik draag toch twee laagjes met top coat (uit gewoonte). At first I was worried that it would be too similar to either Catrice Gold Effect 02 Fascinating Grace or Catrice Travel ICONails C04 Summer In Berlin. But it’s sufficiently different. Fascinating Grace has metallic flakes and gives a different effect on the nails. Summer In Berlin is slightly darker. The formula on Party Animal is really good and covers in one coat. Deze ronde van When Colours Collide was de uitdaging om een nail art te maken met de kleuren Roze, Rood en Zwart. Ik heb zin in kerst, dus ik maakte deed daar iets mee. This round of When Colours Collide had the challenge of creating nail art in the colours Pink, Red and Black. I’m looking forward to Christmas and I was feeling festive, so this is what I made. Om en om lakte ik een nagel in rood en roze. Over mijn middelvinger en ringvinger stempelde ik kerstballen in zwart. Alternating I painted my nails red and pink. On my middle finger nail and ring finger nail I stamped Christmas ornaments with black stamping polish.
