Deze ronde van When Colours Collide had de thema kleuren Geel, Paars en Zwart. Eerst dacht ik aan lente en Pasen, maar uiteindelijk koos ik toch een meer abstracte vorm. Daarover bracht ik eerst wat paarse vegen aan (dry brush) en daarna stempelde ik er in zwart takjes over. Twee artikelen in The Guardian zette mij aan het denken. Het is dit artikel waarin het gaat over verlies ten tijde van Kerst en dit artikel over Kerst en rouw. De beide schrijvers geven op een waardige manier aan dat dit jaar, meer nog dan in andere jaren, verlies en rouw een onderdeel zijn van de feestdagen voor veel mensen.
