Twee artikelen in The Guardian zette mij aan het denken. Het is dit artikel waarin het gaat over verlies ten tijde van Kerst en dit artikel over Kerst en rouw. De beide schrijvers geven op een waardige manier aan dat dit jaar, meer nog dan in andere jaren, verlies en rouw een onderdeel zijn van de feestdagen voor veel mensen. Deze Kerstdagen zijn niet voor iedereen een fijne tijd geweest. Two articles from The Guardian had me thinking. It’s this article about loss in times of Christmas and this article about grief and Christmas. Both articles are very well written to say that this year, more than any other year, the holidays were filled with loss and grief for many people. Not everyone was celebrating a merry Christmas. Dus maakte ik deze nail art. Paarse nagels met een kaarsje. Paars wordt in Nederland met rouw geassocieerd. Mijn eerste kerst nail art in “deze tijd” is een traditioneel ontwerp. Nu al mijn traditionele kerstactiviteiten in de nieuwe Nederlandse lockdown niet mogelijk zijn (terecht!), had ik behoefte aan iets wat er wel “gewoon” uitzag passend bij het seizoen. My first Christmas nail art in “these times” is a traditional one. All my normal activities for this time of the year are cancelled due to the new lockdown of the Netherlands (and it’s necessary!). But that did not takeaway my need to have something that looked like normal on my nails. Als basis gebruikte ik van de Catrice Gold Effect Nail Polish lijn nummer 02 Fascinating Grace. Ik heb deze nagellak geswatched toen ik haar net nieuw had, maar helaas is ze verkleurd. Ook deze vale goudtint vind ik mooi en is nog steeds heel reflecterend. Op mijn ringvinger stempelde ik in groen een kerstafbeelding van een strik met hulsttakken, waarna ik later met een dotting tool de rode besjes toevoegde. Vandaag heb ik voor jullie een nagellak swatch van kleurtje 100 van Catrice. Het heet Party Animal en is een prachtige rozige metallic. Today I’m showing you a nail polish swatch of colour 100 by Catrice. It’s called Party Animal and a really beautiful pink metallic. Ik dacht eerst dat het vergelijkbaar zou zijn met Catrice Gold Effect 02 Fascinating Grace of Catrice Travel ICONails C04 Summer In Berlin. Maar gelukkig is het toch voldoende anders. Fascinating Grace heeft metallic flakes en daarmee een ander effect. Summer In Berlin is net iets donkerder. Het is een goed dekkende formule. Ik draag toch twee laagjes met top coat (uit gewoonte). At first I was worried that it would be too similar to either Catrice Gold Effect 02 Fascinating Grace or Catrice Travel ICONails C04 Summer In Berlin. But it’s sufficiently different. Fascinating Grace has metallic flakes and gives a different effect on the nails. Summer In Berlin is slightly darker. The formula on Party Animal is really good and covers in one coat. Deze ronde van When Colours Collide was de uitdaging om een nail art te maken met de kleuren Roze, Rood en Zwart. Ik heb zin in kerst, dus ik maakte deed daar iets mee. This round of When Colours Collide had the challenge of creating nail art in the colours Pink, Red and Black. I’m looking forward to Christmas and I was feeling festive, so this is what I made. Om en om lakte ik een nagel in rood en roze. Over mijn middelvinger en ringvinger stempelde ik kerstballen in zwart. Alternating I painted my nails red and pink. On my middle finger nail and ring finger nail I stamped Christmas ornaments with black stamping polish. Ik heb voor jullie vier swatches van rozige en meer neutrale kleuren van Catrice. I have four swatches for you of more pink and neutral colours by Catrice. Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquer 88 Pink Makes The Heart Grow Fonder Pink Makes The Heart Grow Fonder was bij mij al bijna in één laagje dekkend. Ik laat hier twee lagen zien met top coat. Het is een mooie, wat vergrijsde, roze tint. This polish covered in almost one coat. I’m showing two coats with top coat. It’s a beautiful dusty pink. Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquer 89 She Needs A HEROse Dit is een wat donkere, wat bruinere, roze tint. Ik laat hier twee laagjes zien met top coat, maar het eerste laagje was al dekkend. Op de nagel droogt het iets donkerder op dan in het potje. This is a slightly darker and more brownish pink. I’m showing two coats with top coat, but the first coat was already full coverage. Afgelopen zondag was er geen post, omdat ik deze twee nail arts wilde combineren in een post. Het gaat om de laatste van de When Colours Collide en om een verjaardag collab. Beide nail arts zijn met herfstblaadjes. Last Sunday I didn’t post, because I wanted to combine these two nail arts in one post. We’re talking about the last round of When Colours Collide and a birthday collab (due today!). Both nail arts are with stamped fall leaves. De (twee)maandelijkse Music Mani Collab had als thema Monster Songs. Uiteraard omdat het gisteren Halloween was, maar ook omdat het weer leuk was! The (bi)monthly Music Mani Collab had as them Monster Songs. Mostly because of Halloween (that was yesterday). But also because it sounded like a fun theme! Ik bleek niet zo heel veel monsterliedjes te kennen. Dus ik koos voor een klassieker die ondanks de naam, eigenlijk een hele andere betekenis heeft. Deze keer bij When Colours Collide was het thema de kleuren Zwart, Oranje en Goud. Mijn eerste gedachte bij deze kleuren was tijger, mijn tweede was Halloween. Dit is wat ik er maar van maakte 😄 This time with When Colours Collide the theme colours were Black, Orange and Gold. My first idea with these colours was tiger, the next was Halloween. So this is what I made 😁 Als basis gebruikte Catrice ICONails 83 Orange Is The New Black. Daarover stempelde ik tijgerstrepen, behalve op mijn accentnagel. Die kreeg een gouden jack-o’-lantern. As base I used Catrice ICONails 83 Orange Is The New Black. On top I stamped tiger stripes. Accept om my accent nails, that one got a golden pumpkin Jack-o’-Lantern. Vandaag is dierendag! Ik denk dat het de eerste keer is dat mijn zondagspost op dierendag valt. Dus je raadt het al, mijn nail art heeft een dierenthema. Today is Animal Day! I think it’s the first time that my Sunday post is on Animal Day. So you guessed it, today’s nail art has a pet theme. Mijn vroegste herinnering aan een huisdier is van het hondje van mijn oma. Het was een terrier mix en had een lichtbruine vacht. Deze cartoon hond op een stempelplaat leek er het meest op. My earliest pet memory is of my grandmother’s little dog. It was a mixed breed terrier and it had light brown fur. This cartoon dog on a stamping plate resembled it in a way. Deze ronde van When Colours Collide was met de kleuren Bruin en Paars. Een beetje herfstig al, terwijl het nog volop (na)zomerweer is. Dus hield ik het op een abstract ontwerp. This round of When Colours Collide had the theme colours Brown and Purple. A bit autumnal, while it’s really sunny weather here in the Netherlands. So I decided on an abstract design. Ik lakte twee laagjes Catrice Brown Collection 01 Fashion Addicted als basis en stempelde er een abstract, wat art deco achtig, patroon overheen in paars. Het was niet makkelijk om het op camera vast te leggen! I painted two coats of Catrice Brown Collection 01 Fashion Addicted as base. On top I stamped in purple an abstract pattern that reminds me of Art Deco. It was difficult to capture on camera!
