Ik droeg deze maand van alles wat en ik probeerde weer eens een meer uitgebreide nail art te maken. Helaas zal ik daar wat meer voor moeten oefenen.

This month I wore a little bit of everything and I tried my hand at a more elaborate nail art, but that needs more practicing.

Catrice ICONails 99 Sand in Sight! with Essie as gold as it gets

Ik begon de maand met een neutrale manicure die ik wat extra’s had gegeven door middel van de topper. Ik was oktober geëindigd met een Halloween nail art en had behoefte aan een reset. Ik vond het een hele geslaagde combinatie. Ik draag hier twee laagjes van Catrice ICONails 99 Sand in Sight! met een laagje Essie as gold as it gets. Uiteraard gecombineerd met een base coat en een top coat.

I started the month with a neutral manicure that I gave a little extra with a topper. I had ended October with a Halloween nail art and I wanted a reset. I liked this combination a lot. Here I’m wearing two coats of Catrice ICONails 99 Sand in Sight! topped with one coat Essie as gold as it gets. Of course I also wore base and top coat.

OPI Now Museum, Now You Don’t with nail art

Meestal geef ik mijzelf niet de tijd om een uitgebreide nail art te doen. Een klein accent, een snelle stempel, dat is allemaal zo gedaan. Nu had ik een keer wel genoeg tijd en ging ik lekker aan de slag. Ik nam een afbeelding van Bundlemonster BM-XL215 (nu Maniology) en kleurde deze in met drie verschillende kleuren nagellak (geel: Hema golden yellow; groen: essence I am what I am; bruin: etos Brunette). Helaas bleek dat ik dat al zo’n tijd niet meer gedaan had, dat ik niet zo goed binnen de lijntjes kon blijven… Als je maar een dingetje inkleurt is dat veel makkelijker. Daarbij pakte ik de verkeerde top coat en smeerde ik alles uit op mijn middelvinger. Toch heb ik dit een aantal dagen gedragen, want op een afstandje zag je alle foutjes minder goed. Daarbij vond ik de basiskleur erg mooi. Die bestond uit twee laagjes OPI Now Museum, Now You Don’t. Dus als je nail art wil blijven maken, is de les dat je ook regelmatig moet blijven oefenen!

Usually I don’t have the time (or give myself the time) to create a more elaborate nail art. A small accent, a quick stamp, those are all relatively quick to do. This time around I gave myself the space and time to just have fun. I took an image from Budlemonster BM-XL215 (now Maniology) and coloured it with three different nail polishes (yellow: Hema golden yellow; green: essence I am what I am; brown: etos Brunette). First lesson I learned is that colouring larger images asks for more practice. I had a very hard time staying within the lines. Second lesson I learned is to use the right top coat, because I smeared my middle finger nail. Still I wore it for a couple of days, because from a distance all the mistakes were not that visible. And I really loved the base colour I used, two layers of OPI Now Museum, Now You Don’t. So if you want to create nail art, you need to keep practicing all the different techniques!

KBShimmer Chroma Chameleon

Daarna koos ik voor een nagellak waar je geen nail art bij nodig hebt: een multichrome. KBShimmer Chroma Chameleon is een hele mooie en snel wisselende multichrome. De dominante kleuren die ik zag waren paars, brons, goud en groen. Ik draag drie laagjes met base en top coat.

Next I chose a nail polish that does not need nail art: a multichrome. KBShimmer Chroma Chameleon is a very pretty en reactive multichrome. The dominant colours that I saw were purple, bronze, gold and green. I’m wearing three coats with base and top coat.

Catrice ICONails 125 Toffee Dreams with toppers

Hierna koos ik voor een combinatie die leek op de verkleurde bladeren aan de bomen. Als basis droeg ik twee laagjes van Catrice ICONails 125 Toffee Dreams. Daarover droeg ik een laagje van KBShimmer Raking it in en een laagje van Wikkid polish Gold Dust. Daarover deed ik nog top coat. Ik vond het een heel geslaagde combinatie.

Then I chose a combination to match the changing leaves on the trees. As the base I wore two coats of Catrice ICONails 125 Toffee Dreams. I topped it with one coat of KBShimmer Raking it in and one coat of Wikkid polish Gold Dust. Then I added a top coat. I liked this combination a lot.

essence Disney Mickey and Friends effect nail polish 02 Aw, phooey!

Deze nagellak van essence is van hun limited edition met Disney. Deze heeft een shimmer die van paars naar groen switcht. Ik draag hier twee laagjes van essence Disney Mickey and Friends effect nail polish 02 Aw, phooey! Afhankelijk van de hoek had ik een paarse glow of een groene glow op mijn nagels. De basiskleur vind ik moeilijk te beschrijven, een warme paarstint? Een pruimkleur? Ik weet het nog steeds niet.

This polish by essence is from their limited edition Disney collaboration. This polish has a special shimmer that switches between purple and green. I’m wearing two coats of essence Disney Mickey and Friends effect nail polish 02 Aw, phooey! Depending on the angle the light hit the nails I had a purple glow or a green glow on my nails. The base colour is hard to describe. Is it a warm purple, a plum? I still don’t know.

Catrice ICONails 113 Take Me To Tokyo

Daarna wilde ik een iets lichtere kleur. Ik koos voor Catrice ICONails 113 Take Me To Tokyo. In eerste instantie droeg ik het zo (twee laagjes met base en top coat). Een dag later deed ik er twee laagjes Sally Hansen Crystal Top Coat over.

Then I wanted something in a lighter shade. I chose Catrice ICONails 113 Take Me To Tokyo. The first day I wore it just like that (two coats with base and top coat). The next day I added two coats of Sally Hansen Crystal Top Coat.

OPI Less is Norse

De tactiek van een kleur een dag dragen en daarna versieren herhaalde ik met OPI Less is Norse. Ik droeg het eerst in twee laagjes met base en top coat. De dag erna bracht ik twee laagjes aan van ILNP Looking Glass en stempelde ik er in zilver een afbeelding op van stempelplaat Bundlemonster BM-XL222 (nu Maniology).

The tactic of wearing a colour for a day and then add a topper was repeated with OPI Less is Norse. I wore it first in two coats with base and top coat. The next day I added two coats of ILNP Looking Glass and I stamped in silver an image from stamping plate Bundlemonster BM-XL222 (now Maniology).

Wikkid polish Candy Floss (faded)

Mijn laatste manicure van de maand was met Wikkid polish Candy Floss. Deze nagellak was origineel een warme middenroze kleur. Maar nu na zoveel jaar is het verkleurd en een pastelkleurige roze tint met koele ondertoon. Ik heb deze nagellak een paar keer gedragen toen hij nog de originele kleur had, maar destijds niet gefotografeerd. Gelukkig is de nieuwe kleur ook mooi en zal ik het nog af en toe dragen. Het flesje heeft nog een ouderwets dun kwastje, dus ik had drie laagjes nodig voor volledige dekking.

My final manicure this month was Wikkid polish Candy Floss. Originally this polish was a midtone shade of warm pink. But after so many years it has faded and it is now a cool toned pastel pink. I wore this polish a couple of times when it still had the original shade, but I never took a picture with it. I also have a fill line on this bottle, but it’s not visible on the picture. Luckily for me I like the faded colour too, so I will still wear it from time to time. This bottle also still has the old thin brush, so I needed three coats for full coverage.
